My little boy loved this book. It has catchy lines that he has repeated often thoughout the day. He asks for it by name. IT is wonderfuly imaginative and entertaining for him.
1. No awards 2. Kindergarten 3. This book combines graphic novels with informational texts and tells an informational story about super bugs. The book contains a storyline of bugs who are superheroes and fight crimes during the day. Also included in this book are many facts about different kinds of insects. 4. I like how this book tells a great story, while also being informative. I like how the reader is able to learn about what kinds of bugs the different characters in the book are. 5. This is a great book to just have in a classroom library. Students who have an interest in bugs and insects will gravitate towards this book and will be excited to learn about insects as they read this fun story.

Cute, engaging art. Some of the meter is awkward. I wish there was more of a story. THe things the superbugs are doing don't always make sense or make them super, like why did the bug bust down the wal? It would have been nice to get real info about bugs , even subtly. For example, all the interesting insect facts on the insides of the covers could have been worked into the text to show us how these bugs are SUPERBUGS.
Bugs deserve heroic status in these dangerous times. They are pollinators for crying out loud. When the world is going to a pesticide-hell in a hand basket, super bugs truly are heroes. Everyone should read this picture book to their little ones!
Great fun! I will be using this for a toddler storytime. The bright, simple pictures, and minimal words will work well in a storytime setting. The superhero setup is very easy for toddlers to follow with delight.
Well, the artwork by Bill Mayer is colorful and so cute. This was what drew me to the book. However, the story is boring and unimaginative. I lost my kindergarteners about halfway through. I had such high hopes for it. They loved the pictures, just not the dialog...
My infant son loves this book! He smiles every time I read it to him, and giggles because of the catchy lines. It has super cute illustrations too, that he loves to look at.
Most of us are rather dismissive of the bugs that surround us. After all, they are usually quite small. This picture book imagines that three bugs are superheroes who help their fellow bugs in all sorts of ways such as rescuing them from being eaten, catching falling bugs, saving the day in many different ways as the other bugs look on in amazement and gratitude. The rhyming text is fun to read aloud, and the incredibly detailed illustrations, painted in miniature with gouache, scanned, and then enlarged, are quite impressive and give personalities to those mighty, mighty bugs. Young readers might be tempted to give a cheer or two for the bugs as they move across the book's pages until collapsing into much-deserved slumber after their daylong labors. One of the aspects that I enjoyed most about the book is the end papers with their individual depiction of beetles, cicadas, cockroaches, and daddy longlegs, among others, alongside an interesting fact about each one. This might be an amusing and effective way to introduce a science unit on bugs.
"Antennae up, eyes down. Buzzing all around the town. Super Bugs, Super Bugs, mighty, mighty Super Bugs" - so begins this tribute to a trio of new superheroes out to rescue bugs in need. Bill Mayer's rich gouache paintings (originally the size of thumbnails) pair nicely with Michelle Meadow's rhyming text and play with perspective - from a whopper bopper of a tomato to the impending doom of a human foot. With fun insect facts on the endpapers, this should appeal to young bug enthusiasts and will work well as a read-aloud during storytime. One minor quibble - I would have loved if the three Super Bugs were differentiated somehow, instead of looking like three identical bugs.
An insect's life is full of peril. But have no fear, the Super Bugs are here! They save butterflies, mosquitoes, and butterflies! This is a simple story that younger kids will enjoy. The cute illustrations bring the story to life. Pages 25 and 26, with the lineup of all the bugs are especially delightful.
Super Bugs has stunning illustrations and a fun rhyme that make for a winning combination. This was a fun read and the pictures were vibrant and added to the story about superhero insects. Sure to be a top pick for bedtime for the young reader.
This is an adorable book well illustrated for kids and MOMS who are afraid of all bugs like me. In this book the super bugs save some of the most adorable bugs around including the cutest Daddy Long Legged Spider ever. GOD I hate spiders except maybe the little daddy long legged guy in this book
Bugs are everywhere....but what about...bumbumbum....Super Bugs.....adorable illustrations will take kids and adults alike on a fun journey. This would easily fall into the Science category of STEM especially if some non-fiction was added.
