Liked the idea of a historical novel about the founding of Los Angeles, but it turned out to be a smut book. A little over a quarter of the way in I realized I hadn't learned anything about LA, and another generation of characters was becoming sexually dysfunctional, kind of surprising for a book written in the 60's, could have been a good story, the author was good at writing characters.
