I like this book. I think that it is an interesting poem song, though I thought maybe it would show more as national poetry or as religious song. It would be interesting to read another one of the versions available, of which there are many. Especially the original in the native tongue. I like some of the character portrayals, and I think some of the synopsis or scene interactions are storylike.
I've read a bunch of adaptations of Beowulf and none of them ever described Grendel. In an effort to determine whether he was scaly or furry, and whether his mom was a tentacle monster or Angelina Jolie, I read the one that was still in Olde English.
Guess what didn't help!
However, if you wanna hear a vivid, singsong description of a mead hall, or Beowulf's biceps, look no further.
