About the author

Bharathidasan (Tamil: பாரதிதாசன்) was a twentieth century Tamil Poet and a rationalist whose literary works handled Socio-Political issues. His greatest influence was Periyar and his self-respect movement. In addition to poetry, his views found expression in his works of essays, plays, films, scripts. He was also influenced by his mentor Bharathiar, another great Tamil poet. He was awarded the Sahitya Academy award for Literature in the year 1969.

He was also called as "Paventhar Bharathidasan", "Puratchi Kavingyar" (Revolutionary Poet).

தந்தை பெரியாரின் தீவிரத் தொண்டராகவும் விளங்கினார். மேலும் அவர் திராவிடர் இயக்கத்தில் மிகுந்த ஈடுபாடு கொண்டார். அதன் காரணமாக, கடவுள் மறுப்பு, சாதி மறுப்பு, மத எதிர்ப்பு போன்றவற்றினை தனது பாடல்கள் மூலம் பதிவு செய்தார்.

பிரபல எழுத்தாளரும், திரைப்படக் கதாசிரியரும், பெரும் கவிஞருமான பாரதிதாசன், அரசியலிலும் தன்னை ஈடுபடுத்திக்கொண்டார். புதுச்சேரி சட்டமன்ற உறுப்பினராக, 1954 ஆம் ஆண்டு தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டார்.

1946, சூலை 29இல் அறிஞர் அண்ணாவால், கவிஞர் "புரட்சிக்கவி" என்று பாராட்டப்பட்டு, ரூ.25,000 வழங்கப்பட்டு, கௌரவிக்கப்பட்டார்.

You three will understand how Bharathidasan expressed the desire for the feeling of liberation at that time. His poems had a great impact on people's minds. Even when I read these poems today, they have an impact on my mind.
