Earth has been invaded and it seems the only thing the aliens want are spouses! When pretty boy soldier Noah Ashfield and stuck-up rich boy Vane Allen are 'recruited' and dragged aboard the starship, neither of them is thrilled, though maybe Vane will drop his incredibly annoying obsession with Noah if he is married? Even if Noah's spouse is male and alien and far too handsy. It's a battle of wills and colliding of worlds involving bondage, spanking, snarky pink-haired humans and grown brats who are stubborn beyond belief. WARNING: Contains sexy aliens with personal boundary issues, hair fetishes, and perhaps too much confidence. Please read author's note to know what you're getting into!!
I'm a relatively new fan of male/male erotica. It’s a bit embarrassing, really. How, in this age of computers, did I go so long without finding gay romance? It shouldn’t be possible. Here I am, a person who’s always enjoyed a bit of hero molestation by the male villain, so you’d think I would be the first to jump on the sexy bandwagon of gay romantic love.
Sadly, that’s not my style at all. If you take away the tweedish erudition, my style is more reminiscent of the absent minded professor who suddenly realizes that he’s been walking around campus with his pants off. I'm a master of obliviousness.
If you're wondering what you'll find in my stories, I prefer long, romantic fantasies with sex, a little angst, warm fuzzies, humor, and happy endings. Warm Fuzzy Porn? Fluffy Kink? Whatever you want to call it, my inner marshmallow thrives on this cotton-candy stuff like it’s a super-vitamin for the soul.
Currently, most of my efforts are in draft form, free to peruse on-line until they are submitted for publishing.
So if a little fun and sex, and a mandatory happy ending, is what you're in the mood for, come on over and enjoy the fluff-porn.
The first 6% of the book is waisted on lusting and musing and self-doubting while in an intense, time sensitive situation. Why??? Why do writers do it? All I could think was "grab the boy, get the f* out, deal with the aftermath later", but no. Guess what I did? I skipped those pages.
You know what 6% of 415 pages is? That's 25 pages of wasted time. Not only the characters' but mine as well. What I really need to know is whether the two idiots got themselves and the boy out. I need to know they are safe. I don't need to know that the young boy's skin is like pink silk or how soft restraints would look better on him instead of the rough ropes he is currently sporting on his wrists and ankles.
I'll stick it out for a little bit longer, see how it goes. But I am not exactly optimistic at this point 😑😑😑
Love Twisted Hilarity but....EDITING! EDITING ! EDITING!!! You 're and your. Full stops in sentences. Names mixed and changes in POVs without any clear indication. Since it became published the editor should have probably decided to make the individual stories into different books so all the different couples don't confuse the reader even if I get to read about the same timeline. No stars as I feel this is an unfinished job.
Absolutely engrossing! Once a I started it was so hard to put down, even though this was my second time around as I read this online initially.
This story is full of dubcon. If you have any issues with that, AT ALL, this book is not for you. However, I love the way it is done. Through all of the perspectives you can see things like how Noah really does want Jovi and is holding off because he thinks that's wrong, or how Brinald really does intend to teach a lesson that just ends up being sexual. At the same time you want to shake some of them for their decisions. Like Jovi doing everything because 'he knows what is best'. Every person has a reason for what they do, even when it drives you mad, and the book is just so compulsively readable.
This does end on a major cliffhanger. Now, having read it before, I know it's worth it to go on, and it was a really well done cliffhanger. But if that is a nope for you, fair warning!
1/5: less romance, more softcore rape-smut. Truly dire.
Nothing happens. I got to around 65% of book 1 and it felt like the lifetime of the earth.
Basically, this is a run-of-the-mill 'no' really means 'yes' rape-smut disguised as 'romance'.
I think the author was after a certain yaoi element, but this...isn't even ecchi. Ecchi has its limits, this is pure hentai with emotional harassment, sexual harassment and deviancies like 'forced marriage' being posited as somehow morally or ethically okay.
Don't bother. This isn't worth your time.
Little character development, cursury world-building, no compelling back stories. This is just a book about two guys (one being alien) having sex together, with an element of force, s&m. Dull, unimaginative, morally suspect.
And on a personal aside, as a gay guy I really get irritated by the whole 'top vs bottom' thing; so exaggerated.
Overall I enjoyed this book. I love the relationship building and struggles of Jovi, the alien hero, and Noah, the beautiful pink haired PureGen human. Jovi was over protective and rather overbearing in his quest to keep his human safe. However Jovi did treat Noah well and with open love and affection. Well except for when they met in the non-consensual interaction that resulted from that. Not cool. You will see this more in books 2 and 3. Yes, I did continue reading the series and read all three books.
4 Stars for for the Jovi/Noah romance. So I gave one of the books a 4 Star rating, Book 2.
This story is basically one long story told across 3 books about three couples. Not one couple per book, but all 3 couples story in all 3 books.Unfortunately I wasn’t very interested in the other couples’ stories. Especially the Seer and Vane, just didn’t really care for them but they were slightly more tolerable in book 3. So I had to slog through their parts of the book with heavy skimming and too much much inner dialogue.
I like this series, not gonna lie. I read most of the story years ago, when it was still being published on YaoiFix but never got to the end, so I was pretty excited when I noticed this had been published on Kindle and I finally decided to re-read and finish the story.
What has changed most during these years is me as a reader. I didn't remember how "problematic" the story-line is on the topic of consent and I had real issues with the relationships, at least in this first installment. In the end, I decided to take it for what it is (=porn with plot) and not let it stop me from reading. And the issue is slightly addressed through the book (though not enough) so it got better.
I'm holding out hope that in the later installments Jovi will wake up and hear what Noah is actually saying and we can get to smut with enthusiastic consent and to sex that stops when someone says no.
I got to 61% before stopping. Honestly, I’m amazed I made it that far. I enjoy slow burn and occasionally even enjoy dub con if it’s written well but putting the two together made it awful. This was the slowest moving book ever. I got 61% of the way in and nothing really happened. Honestly, none of the characters were likeable. Jovi was emotionally and sexually manipulative which was okay because the Seers said so? He was ten times worse than Vane (the antagonist of the story?). The switching of the characters stories wasn’t well done either. If you want to tell the stories of multiple characters just make it into separate books. Especially when your novel is already so long. There were typos too which annoys me in a published novel. The whole story was just awful. I couldn’t find a single thing to like about it. Don’t waste your time and money.
Disregarding the typos and editing issues (as this was self published), my rating is this low for the first book only because of the slog the first part is. The DubCon gets repetitive, Jovi's ignoring consent becomes teeth gritting, and the overall yelling is annoying. Thankfully it gets so much better.
Ends in a harsh cliffhanger.
Single use problematic word: ji pp ed
TWs: no negotiation of safe words, dub-con (so much dub-con seriously Jovi), bratting, alpha-hole behaviour, bondage, MM explicit intimacy, public lewdness, spanking, praise and degradation, toys, implication of being kidnapped, political pressure, alien biology, alien culture, mentions of previous abuses (off page), violence, bodily harm, hospital visit due to serious injury, secret engagement, mentions of genetic manipulation (past), and an overall obsession with pink.
I was very torn about this book. I find the overall plot interesting and the sex is steamy but I didn’t like the characters very much. The two main human protagonists, Noah and Vane, are always angry. Like all the time. At least with Noah you can sometimes kinda understand why. Vane is just awful, though. On the flip side Jovi is just sex obsessed all the time. The amount of time he gets to actually know Noah vs the amount of time he obsesses over how sexy he looks is disquieting. And add all of that onto the serious dub-con going on in the book… Yikes.
I almost stopped reading this multiple times. That being said, I didn’t. In fact, I’m curious about the sequel.
Husbands for Peace was absolutely amazing. I am on to read the second in the series. I like that the story is long enough to follow three possible couples. I don’t feel cheated on content for any group of people. It was humorous, touching, and at times made me angry. All good feelings when reading a fiction story.
I read this year's ago when I was a member of the site it used to be posted on, I absolutely loved Vane and his story. And re-reading it now years later, I still adore him just as much! Honestly, even before I skipped around and only read Vane's parts...still the same lol
I'm not a fan of all the different POV in this book. I also don't enjoy more than one love story happening, it was repetitive and I wasn't interested in it. The story seemed to drag on forever and I didn't even get to the second half of the book. This one just wasn't for me.
I chose this book because I thought the cover hilarious. To my surprise it was funny, made me laugh and kept me turning to the next page. It was an attention holder so I decided to get the other books.
What is this book? Fun, exciting, sweet, sexy, and funny! I enjoyed it from the first page to the last. Good world building, fun sexy times, interesting plot, everything coming together in such a way that makes twisted hilarity on of my new favorite authors!
It's an enjoyable read, but if the editing for this book was anything other than someone pressing "accept all changes" without reviewing then I would be shocked. Endless your/you're style errors and the like. It's honestly unacceptable in this day and age to release a paid book with these errors. It got so bad I considered at one point keeping a log of all the problems and sending them to the author to hopefully fix in an upcoming edition.
I originally read this as a serial, and I could wait until the next chapter. I liked the main and secondary characters. I liked the plot and subplots. The setting was interesting also. And I really liked the length of the story. I was really looking forward to rereading this story straight through, but I was disappointed to find the same errors that were in the serial are still there. I gave it 4 stars and not 3 because I really liked the story.
This book was not at like I expected. It was better! There is so much character building that I just fell in love with all them. The story seems vary thought out and I can't wait to finish it in the next book. I'm so looking forward to reading it I'm going to pre order it for the February release.
This is a fantastic yaoi series, including multiple couples and plot lines. You need to read all three books to get the HEAs, but it’s definitely worth it!
