Una buena guía para iniciarse en el mundo de Pokémon GO, pese a que algunos datos han quedado obsoletos luego de las últimas dos o tres actualizaciones. Lo que más me gustó de este libro es que está todo muy bien explicado y hasta un niño de mediana edad puede entenderlo sin problemas, además de que hay algunos (poquitos) consejos muy interesantes para subir de nivel en el juego y que realmente sirven.

¡Me sorprendió saber que Pokémon fue primero un juego y luego una serie, siempre pensé que era al revés! ¿Ustedes lo sabían? (Digan que no, no quiero quedar como una tonta jajaja)

Por otro lado, estoy contenta porque, al terminar de leer este libro, cumplí uno de los retos de la New Year's Readathon: Finish a book you've put down (terminar un libro que hayas abandonado o dejado de lado).

Empecé este libro cuando salió y la verdad es que esperaba encontrarme algo... no sé.. pero algo bastante diferente.

Teniendo en cuenta que la app de Pokemon Go salió a principios de verano, creo que el libro salió muy tarde, porque cuando llegó a mis manos, yo ya hacía mucho que jugaba al juego (y aún sigo jugando) y todos los trucos que cuenta, ya los conoces, ya los has usado muchas veces. Además, hay que añadir que algunos de esos trucos (como el de Eevee) cuando salió el libro ya no era factible usarlo debido a las nuevas actualizaciones. Por lo que aunque es muy rápido y fácil de leer, lo dejé de lado, porque no me estaba aportando nuevas informaciones para el juego.

Sí, es cierto que algunos datos me han ido bien y algunas páginas pueden ser muy útiles como el listado de los distintos tipos de Pokemon clasificados según si son agua, fuego, aire, hada...

En caso que alguien no haya jugado a Pokemon y pretenda jugar, sí, es un libro que puede serle bastante útil en ciertos aspectos, pero para quien ya juega, todo lo que nos cuenta nos lo tenemos más que aprendido, si no ha sido por nuestra propia cuenta, ha sido por amigos o por youtubers por ejemplo que hablan de ello.

This is a fairly comprehensive guide, though it's useful only if you're at level 5 of the game (or below). Otherwise, you've either figured out the gameplay, or you've looked to internet articles for guidance. The book somewhat relies on internet articles that you might've already read if you're addicted enough to Pokemon Go. The anecdotes from random players add little to the text, and sometimes contradict information Copperman presents. Ex. in one instance, a player describes taking a pokemon that a child and his grandmother were trying to catch. Later in the book, Copperman explains that players don't compete for scarce resources--you will see the same pokemon as others in the vicinity, and there is no limited quantity. There is a cute little (albeit simplistic) quiz to help you decide whether you want to join Mystic, Valor, or Instinct. The guide ends with a brief history lesson on the game itself and it various incarnations, starting in the 1990s.

Wie von einem Buch über ein immer weiter aktualisiertes Handyspiel zu erwarten, ist es wenig brauchbar. Die Hälfte der Informationen sind veraltet und falsch. Vom Rest ist dagegen hauptsächlich Basiswissen(was die App selbst bietet) zu lesen. Übrig bleiben folgende Punkte: Was war der Vorgänger von Pokemon Go? Wie hat sich Pokémon etabliert? Das war es dann auch aber. Wer sich aktuell informieren will, bekommt in jedem Pokemon-Wiki mehr Inhalt. Gut ist das Buch nur für Leute, die einen Schwenk davon lesen wollen, wie sich die App entwickelt hat seit 2016. Von dem Standpunkt aus, in dem es gerade Mal 142 Pokemon zu fangen gab und Zubat offenbar das am schwersten zu fangende Pokémon war.

Don't buy it anymore. Nearly all of the information is outdated and not applicable anymore.

Maybe it was worth the money to someone in 2016, but basically it could be a nice blog, to help out. Unfortunately it does not provide more than basic information and probably author (as she is to many other general overview unauthorised guides) just collects some general info and fills the niche regards the book for relevant topic. Nothing bad in that, just if you look for a guide about PoGo, rather go and read some specialised webs like leekduck.com or pokemon.gamepress.gg or many other available by now. I enjoyed the last bit about the history of franchise.

Tämä Pokemon go- kirja oli hieman laadukkaammin toteutetun oloinen kuin aikaisemmin lukemani, vaikkakin aika heppoinen. Samat ongelmat ovat läsnä eli peliin on tullut jo lisää vaikka mitä ominaisuuksia sekä tietysti ei mitään uutta kokeneemmalle pelaajalle. Pidin kuitenkin enemmän tästä. Kuvat, tekstin sijoittelu jne. oli parempaa. Pidin kirjassa esiintyvistä testeistä ja pelaajien kokemuksista kertovista nostoista. Niitä oli ihan mukava lukea. Kaiken tämän informaation ja valtavan paljon enemmän saa toki netin kautta, joten sillä tavalla en kokenut että olisi hyötyä jos aloittaisi pelaamisen nyt.

Tons of basic information for the new player just starting out who isn't very familiar with Pokémon in general or with the app. It was a good refresher on the basics for me, but no new information or strategies.

I did learn a little about gyms but other books do a better job even being outdated

As an enthusiastic Pokemon Go! player who learned how it worked just by fiddling around with the app, I read this guide hoping to nab some next-level intel. Unfortunately, most of the info here is pretty basic and useless unless you've never played the game before. I did, however, learn the secret trick to getting Eevee to evolve into specific incarnations, and the chapters on gym battles helped answer some questions I had about more advanced game play.
