Atlante dei paesi sognati

Rate this book

A book about fabulous places in history, each described on two to four pages, including e.g. Thule, Eldorado, Barbary, The source of the Nile... most originating in ancient history or the times when European sailors and voyagers set out to discover the world. It's a mixture of places that actually do exist or at least have a factual background and some that are pure myth. Some are entertaining to read, especially when he establishes how the myths came to be. I would have loved some more factual knowledge especially when those places were rooted in reality. The places in Africa all seem to have some historic background but one does not really learn where they are on the map. Interesting read as I knew not even half the places in here and it made me to lots of research on the internet, but in the end just an appetizer.
