OUR STORY
A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.

Very informative. Would have got a better rating but I read it from cover to cover which I shouldn't have as there were sections of no interest to me..

Would definitely recommend though.

This book gave me a lot of good ideas for my honeymoon broken out by price and when to go. If only I had unlimited vacation time.

Attractively designed and laid out. Obviously doesn't cover every destination but a good jumping off point for many travelers. I found the quiz section and a few hints most helpful rather than any specific destination info (i.e. plan your trip to start off busy and end relaxed, make sure your accommodations start off from most basic to most luxurious - or at least maintain comfort level to avoid comparisons).
A good start if you don't have clear idea of what you want in your honeymoon. Also inclusive of LGBT couples in language ( no discussions of husband/wife) and the safety of certain locations.
