This was a hard read from the start due to some bad translation. This novel swaps translators two or three times, and the first has a few bad habits that make the novel less readable: 1) translating literally, rather than relaying the meaning in an understandable way; 2) leaving several terms in pinyin rather than translating, and sticking the actual translation in author notes in brackets underneath that paragraph; 3) authors notes in brackets all through every chapter interrupting the flow instead of just using more easily understood terms in the first place.
But when the second translator picked the novel up, despite them being more skilled they had to add notes at the end of chapters that the original text contained errors or confusing contradictions, and unexplained flashbacks with no warning of when entering and leaving flashbacks, etc. So the problem is both a bad author and some bad translating.
Eventually I decided to DNF after problems continued even with the second and third, more skilled, translators. Maybe this novel would be more tolerable if you were translating it yourself? Unknown. It does still contain some very bad writing/tropes. Such as one character being very violent to, and controlling of, their love interest - and we're meant to think this is romantic. That same character acts like a spoiled 16 or 17 year old - but we get told after 25 or so chapters that he's actually in his 30's. Yikes. If you want a badly written novel about an abusive relationship, this one's for you. Everyone else can safely give this a miss and find a better e-circle novel.
Three stars because I kinda loved the MC but the story itself isn’t much. It’s an okay read, both MC are straight in the beginning and the story is mainly showbiz so if that’s what you like you should pick this up but for me I didn’t feel it was memorable.
