I’m pretty sure I’m adopted, no matter how many times my parents claim otherwise. My sisters are smart, successful and athletic. Me? Not so much. I can’t concentrate; and I can’t perform well in school or on a job. I’m pretty sure I’m not even all that smart. I really don’t know exactly what is wrong with me, but something definitely is. I am way late at discovering this author's Daughter's Series, but I'm loving it. This story included. I've totally been reading them out of order-of course I started with the gutting cheating story first (Natalie's story), and ended up falling in love with this family. I'm certain that if I had started them in order, they'd have been even better, but they aren't bad as out of order standalones. It's been a while since I wanted to finish an entire series of books, but I'm pretty sure I'm finally going to make that happen with this family's series because I adore the author's way of telling her stories.
Melissa was a total fuckup. She made so many annoying and frustrating life choices, and she came off looking like she was spoiled and acting out of rebellion and stupidity. She had everyone in her family furious at her, and ready to cut her out of their family. And even with all the stupid shit she did, I loved her character and I still had a modicum of sympathy for her despite her off the wall behavior and terrible choices. I kind of figured out the reasoning for her behavior way before Melissa did, but it didn't take away from this story. I loved Melissa and her nerdy/hottie Seth. They were both great people, and they complemented each other so nicely. Although this story didn't have much angst in it and it has zero drama, I did enjoy the gutting that Melissa went through as Seth's mother judged her so harshly. And
This family is a pretty awesome family. I'm looking forward to reading the other sister's stories as well as the mom/dad's story too.

I have read everything by Leanne and this book is one of my favorites! I love that we got to see and understand why Melissa made the choices she made because we got to watch and see her grow.

What can I say this is another wonderful book in the Daughters series. Melissa is such a beautiful character struggling with her ADHD and trying to find her place in life. I felt for her, hurt for her and wanted to see her succeed. Thank goodness for Seth who is such a strong, thoughtful and loving man. It was delightful to read their story as I willed them to reach happiness. I also loved the good relationship of her parents especially Will and could just imagine the thrill both he and Melissa experienced on their bikes! This is yet another great story and one I highly recommend reading.

Melissa
Melissa is the middle child of Jessi and Will Hendricks. She feels like she doesn't fit in with the family and that her father does not like her. She can't seem to do anything right - hold a job, school, sports, show up on time, remember things. The only time she feels 100% comfortable is when she is with animals. She is going down a bad path - sleeping with bikers and doing drugs. Seth is living in the apartment above Will's shop, as he is a family friend and attending grad school there. Seth and Melissa have words, but when he catches Will reaming Melissa out, he starts to see things a little differently and feels compassion or empathy towards her. Melissa finally hits rock bottom and is standing on top of a water tower thinking she can fly. She texts Seth that she needs help, and he goes to get her. He is scared to death for her, but gets her off the ledge and down. But not before something significant changes for the two of them. Seth is there for her with her family and every thing else. Melissa tells them she needs to see a counselor or something because she wants to know what is wrong with her and nothing else is working. She is diagnosed with something that no one had thought of, but Seth is there with her. Helping her tell her parents and helping in every way he can. Missy and Seth form a bond and each help the other with their shortcomings. Many people may not understand it, but they are quite content with everything. I loved when Missy and Will reconnected on their bike ride, and the things Will told her and expressed to her were heartwarming. Another great one by Leanne, and I learned so much more about this diagnosis that is often missed, especially in girls. Thanks for always having me learn more about something by reading your books! Looking forward to Emily! I did not spoil anything in this review, and purposely left things vague in the hopes that you will pick up the book and read it for yourself. All of us could use someone like Seth in our lives - he is not judgmental and he compliments and encourages Missy to deal with everything head on and not by burying things.

Melissa Hendricks is the middle child of Will and Jessie and she feels like she is adopted as she just can't seem to concentrate on anything and keeps "floating" through life and never succeeding at anything. She loves spending time with animals and that is where she is most at home.
Seth Gifford is a genius and staying with the Hendricks family while he attends Washington University. He has a small apartment on their property but he is tired of catching Melissa having sex with different men on his bed.
When Melissa is fired again, her dad is frustrated and done with enabling her. Soon Melissa finds herself the reason her parents are fighting and she slowly finds a friend in Seth. Yet can Melissa figure things out and get the help she needs before her family falls apart?
This is another great book that tackles new issues and a very important issue that can be completely overlooked!
Melissa seemed like she was living life with no idea what she wanted or no focus to keep anything straight. She was coasting and falling apart as her confidence was nothing so she surround herself with men like Anand, a biker, whom she had sex with and he supplied her with drugs.
I was glad that Melissa finally recognized that she had a problem and got help from a counselor who right away helped her.
Seth was interesting as he was so mad that Melissa was having sex at his place but after hearing a heated conversation between her and Will he began to offer her a friendship. Slowly this began to evolve into more and I liked that Seth really helped her change but at the same time Melissa was still very judged by so many other people who were not ready to see the change in her.
I loved that gradually Melissa was able to focus her energy on doing something she loved and she did really well at it.
Life was still not easy for Melissa and there was a few twists and turns that made me upset for her as it felt like when she got one step ahead something would bring her another two steps back.

This is a great book and very accurately describes what flies on when a child is not diagnosed with a disability. I have several family members both male and female who had proactive parents and teachers and have benefited from treatment. Melissa is the middle child and problem child for Jessie and Will and her “perfect” sisters. Seth is the son of Jessie’s best friend from North Carolina and aa genius. He hates Melissa and her lazy, wh0ring ways, especially in his apartment above the Henderson’s barn. She uses his bed when he goes on weekend mountain climbing trips. There is a fine line between love and hate and Seth’s feelings change when he has to rescue Melissa and sees her in a new light. There is lots of family members fighting, a sleazy boyfriend, a diagnosis, learning to live and function with a disability, family members making up and two people finding what they’re going missing in someone else.

Melissa was an emotional roller coaster for me and resonated so much with me because it was like reading a piece of my story. Honestly, Leanne Davis really writes some real life stories. This third book in the Daughters series finds Melissa's family frustrated and disappointed by her bizarre behaviors and her impulsive flighty nature. She just squeaked by in high school but couldn't hang onto a string of jobs. Her parents are beside themselves wondering where they went wrong. Melissa is convinced she's their biggest disappointment. At every turn is Seth to save her from herself time after time. The childhood friend of the family is the shiny light at the end of a dark tunnel when she finally hits rock bottom and asks for help. As she comes to terms with her diagnosis, it will force her and everyone in her family to re-evaluate many facets of their lives.

Leanne Davis has a Way with her Books that deals with family relations between members and explains everything in a way you can understand the situation at hand especially with a Disability in Melissa.
Melissa knows something is "off" with her but tries to deal with her impulsive and crazy ways. Then learning later that after hitting rock bottom, has ADHD and other issues to figure out her place in life.
Definitely Must Read Book with its secrets but keeps you on your toes! CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!

I loved this book because Leanne was able to describe the Melissa as a victim, then transform her into a survivor. The book is written to where you understand both sides. The way Seth starts to hate Melissa, then he rescues her shows a fine line between love and hate, when he sees Melissa in a different way. Treatment for ADHD child can hit close to anyone but the book is well written and informative. I have seen a lot of families with the same internal problems but had a hard time to face the issues. Good book and I highly recommend it.

I knew there wasn't something right with Melissa in the first couple of pages, and that it was more than what was implied. I think that made me more sympathetic to her and everything she was trying to do to "sabotage" her life. I felt her pain. I think having Seth around was perfect for Missy. They were as different as night and day, and they mostly got on each other's nerves. However, I think he could relate to her struggles about being different, and he tended to be there as support, not only as she was falling, but also as she found the pieces to put her life back together again.

Love this book .. Melissa life is crazy for her she can’t stand school , she feel differently form her family, and there Seth a family friend that live there while going to college that you can feel that there a love hate relationship...will it develop to more or not .. just like other books of Leanna ...you can feel the characters feeling and emotion..this is a book to read...it a must read ..hurry and get this book you won’t regret it.

New to me
It took me a few chapters to get into this book. The dialogue was kind of slow for me. The subject matter was of interest to me though. ADHD is a real thing and unfortunately not correctly diagnosed. Melissa pulled at my heart strings with the way she struggled but Seth was the only one who took time to notice and really see her.
Together these two make one another better. The family bond was crumbling until Melissa agreed to get help. Together they overcome her obstacles.

Leanne Davis has done it again. This book was fantastic. I absolutely love how well put together and detailed it was. Leanne explains everything in a way you can understand with accurate information on disabilities that some of us experience in our daily lives. Absolutely amazing and highly recommended.

Her mom is a doctor and didn’t take her to a specialist to understand her behaviour when she was younger? The cruel things her father said was immediately forgotten about and forgiven. The MMC didn’t even tell his friends or family about her even though she was improving.
I agree her past mistakes would still have consequences while she’s trying to do better but I didn’t feel like her parents or MMC supported her. Melissa deserved so much better.

Compelling and different
I love all of Daughters Series but I really loved getting to know Melissa. I loved seeing her side of things and finally beginning to understand her.

The characters in this story just didn't click with me. Nicely written and the story line kept moving along, it still didn't resonate with me like previous characters in the Sisters and the Daughters series have resonated.

A totally different spin off the series for this sister. Shes wild,crazy and everything in between. Melissa is the middle child. She has long since made her family upset with her impulsive and crazy ways to live her life. Just when everything starts falling apart, she seeks help to figure her life out.
This book is super fun to read. And intense. it deals with adhd and other issues. It was informative as well.

This was a first for me not loving a book in this series. Being inside Melissa's head was just too chaotic for me to enjoy the story.
I am looking forward to Emily's story which is next.
