Can a whistleblower find a new future with a wolf while being chased by a corrupt cop and the Serbian mob?
Richard Kerrigan is on the verge of losing hope. Fired from his job for blowing the whistle on a defect that would harm service members if used as designed, he is now blacklisted in the Chicago area. A local Serbian mobster wants Richard and won't take no for an answer.
Garou Industries, the loup garou privately owned company, has been searching for Richard to offer him a position in the company as they value having someone with his integrity on staff. Richard relocates to Manhattan to begin his new job and stays with Julien Bellaire, his mentor, who is also Richard's Mate.
Before they can settle in, the Serbian mobster turns up dead and a corrupt cop who secretly works for the Serbians comes to New York with trumped up charges to pin the murder on Julio. With over eighty witnesses to Julio being on an airplane at the time of the murder, the cop abandons trying to frame Richard and instead plots to murder him. The loup garou request assistance from the Italian mob to protect Richard which comes with some interesting consequences.
AC Katt was born in New York City’s Greenwich Village. She remembers sitting at the fountain in Washington Square Park listening to folk music while they passed the hat. At nine, her parents dragged her to New Jersey where she grew up, married and raised four children and became a voracious reader of romantic fiction. At one time she owned over two thousand novels.
Now, most of AC’s books are electronic (although she still keeps six bookcases of hardcovers), so she never has to give away another book. AC writes GLBT andis to writing, a late bloomer, however, she’s found her niche writing GLBT romance. She currently writes for MLR Press, JMS Books, and Decadent Publishing
This was book 7 in the "Werewolves of Manhattan" series. Richard Kerrigan who is a childhood friend of Julio from book 6 in this series has lost everything his father died while he was in college his mother died of breast cancer and he was fired from his job as an engineer for blowing the whistle on the company because they cut corners and used defective parts and if that wasn't bad enough a Serbian mobster wants to make him his. As a wedding gift Etienne found Richard for Julio. Turns out Richard is Julien Bellaire mate Julien 7th in the line of Alphas he is also an engineer and in charge of that department for they also looking for Richard Garou Industries, the loup garou privately owned company, has been searching for Richard to offer him a position in the company as they value having someone with his integrity on staff. This was a good book the mobster who wanted Richard turned up dead and an over zealous cop wanted to pin the crime on Richard and Julien and the other Alphas weren't having it. This was a good read Richard and Julien and fooled around more than some of the other couples. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Independent reviewer for Divine Magazine, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Jumping straight in, because I have issues with this book.
This is book 7 in the Werewolves of Manhattan series, and I have not read those. I figured there is a little follow-on running through, about the Russians but that's all. To be honest, I might not have read this one if they are all the same.
FOOD!!! The book, once Richard meets Julien, focuses an awful lot on food. They eat, constantly. Like, on almost every page, food, food, and more food. Even when the reason for Richard's increased appetite is made clear, it was still somewhat annoying. Snacks, dinner, more snacks, more dinner.....you get the picture.
Repetition. There is constant reference to the order of things. The order in which the Alphas leave the room, are seated at the table, are talked about. Almost as much as the food issue.
The Serbian mobster issue was dealt with in what seemed like a rushed manner, and there were other points that could have been elaborated on, like the threads. Richard saw them, but they were never explained. While it's fairly obvious to me what they were, they were just there, and the gone.
There were some editing errors I spotted along the way, one in a chapter title. Should have been picked up at the first pass, that one!
Being brutally honest, because that is what reviewing is all about, being honest, I wanted to dump this and mark it DNF. But I didn't because I thought it might get better. Unfortunately, it didn't.
So, because I finished it, and ONLY because I did...
This one while good seemed a little rushed. I am still looking forward to the next one though. I so want some questions answered about two characters that have been introduced.
The cards are stacking up for something major that is in the air but has yet to happen.
The wolves of Manhattan are quickly finding their mates and each mate has something special that he brings to the group. So when Julien finds his mate and his mate is already connected to one of the other mates in their pack, Julien was ecstatic.
Julien knew that he needed to proceed with precaution where Richard was concerned because if for no other reason what he has seen wth the past makings of his friends and how their mates reacted when they learned their fate. Yes they all ended up together in the end but Julien did not want his mate to go through the turmoil some of the others went through.
Turns out that Julien did not need to worry over this issue because Richard was more than excepting and did not fight any of it and took everything in stride. Turns out that was probably the best thing that could have happened because danger is right around the corner and Tichard is in the line of sights.
The whole pack will have to come togther in order to protect Richard and to get Julien and Richard to their mating ceremony in one piece, happy and healthy.
This was a good read but in all honesty it is the future books that I look most forward to. I am glad these two men found each other and all but the books to come is the ones that will show us readers what is exactly coming in the way of the pack. I personally believe it is something major and I have a feeling it may start when Henry finds his mate finally. I cannot wait because I have a feeling it is going to be explosive.
Was given this galley copy for free for an open and honest review
I am starting to really question Goodreads ratings and never trust Arc reviews. How this book has such a high rating is beyond me. It was horribly dry, zero chemistry between any of the characters, let alone the leads. Everyone was so stuffy and everything stood on ceremony. My God, there's even an order to eating based upon when a mate was found. It read like an instruction manual with just information overload on how this pack operates. I started to cross eyed after a while from the sheer number of names and affiliations being thrown out there. Every gathering involved confirming who the 96 people in attendance were. It was so dry the sex was mostly conversations between pack members on how to do it!!
Beyond that there was no plot, it was like "and this happened, then that happened, then something else happened". Just events being catalogued endlessly. It's like the author thought I'm going to find a way to make a pack that operates like a sorority.
I skipped through to the end to see if something happens, it doesn't!
The same as before only with different Mc's mate comes with trouble/issues needs solving asap all the mates and alpha husbands come to the rescue and help solve any issue they may have All the mates need to eat alot I think the food breakfast brunches, lunches ,dinner and snacks could be just told instead of shown after the first couple of stories it was very annoying to me also the shopping trips are so predictable it just felt like I already read the story because in every book they do exactly the same *ugh so nope this serie is not really for me I like the concept of the stories but the execution was a bit of a let down for me
While attending one weeding the next pair is united. In this case Richard is almost as strong as Julienne. He knows his mind and has great integrity. But Richard is also smart enough to figure out what's what and is ready to take his place in the mate's club.
So very endearing love how itended you have a good storyline so very amazing i bought all the books in have been reading them for the last two days. I wake to and go to bed to uhhour stories.
I love almost everything I have ever read from this author but the bad guy was killed off early on in this story and there was not a build up to a conflict at the end just a lacking cliffhanger. I am pleased that Henri will have a mate but I fell in love with the Detective Sergeant Murphy and they treated him horribly in this book. Something new is this belief that Mates are reincarnations and have loved and found each other throughout time...yeah, I'm not sure how I feel on that issue. The mates letting the Alphas pick their clothes for them, it leaves me feeling they don't have any individuality and maybe they want to dress their own way. This pecking order thing is tedious when you keep adding more characters. I will have to wait and see what the next book brings.
I loved this book just as much as all the others that I've read in the series so far only two to go so sad that we lost A.C. , and that the series can't go farther than Rene' to see what all the gods had planned for our own family of wolves. For the record I give Julio's Wolf a very full five stars, for some reason beyond my control my fire tablet didn't have any place for me to either rate of give a review of the book, so this should count as two reviews. 🐺 🐺 🐺 🐺 🐺 🐺 🐺/🐺 🐺 🐺 🐺 🐺 🐺 🐺 💍💍💍💍💍💍💍💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💙 💖 💚 💛 💜 💛 💜.
I always look forward to an A.C. Katt novel. The characters are sweet, bold and sexy. I love her Werewolves of Manhattan series, and her Indescreet ones the best, though. For anyone who loves hot Alphas and strong Mates, troubled paths to happiness and ever lasting love, this is a great read.
Richard is in need of some help . His friend from childhood shows up and everything changes for the good . Julian was worried that he would never find a mate but fate gives him Richard .
Wow it was great! I loved all the things that happened in it. Between the mating rules and finally mating, I loved it. Thank you for writing such a good book again! I look forward to the next one!
This series just keeps getting better. I loved them all. I am so looking forward to what happens next. I hope it doesn't end with the next one but I guess I will just have to wait and see. Awesome books.
There are some series that I just have to keep reading, even though I’m not sure the “spark” is still there. This is one of them. I kinda love the strange customs that these wolves have – the hierarchies, the golden thread, the no sex til you meet your mate, all the eating… it’s strange but unique and I still find it compelling.
The plot is predictable – that can be comforting – no denying that – and this is really not any different from the other books in the series. The one thing that’s a little different is the ease with which Richard accepts all the paranormal stuff – spoiler – it’s kinda funny but simply by reading the romance series one of the mate’s has written convinces him it’s all real – that’s a cute hook! – end spoiler.
I found the rest of the “drama” to be uninspiring – but I still read this in one sitting and find myself looking forward to the next one!
