This practical guide for the laboratory-assisted diagnosis of syphilis contains sections on laboratory safety, specimen collection and clinical diagnosis using antibody and antigen detection methods. It also includes tests beyond those considered Standard Status Tests, procedures for commercially available provisional tests, and tests for which many of the individual components may be purchased. The format complies with the CLIAA-88 regulations.
