So this is my first Rayne Havok book and I've got to say that the hype is real. I think I've just found a new extreme horror author to binge on.
The story was great and the characterization was well done. Rayne does a great job of making me hate our protagonist while also being a little jealous of him at the same time. Once he finds out the big secret that his father has been keeping the book really ramps up to another level, but idk.......I just wouldve liked to have seen more done with the premise (trying not to spoil it).
Regardless of the book feeling a bit quick and me wanting a more out of it, I still enjoyed the story alot and look forward to reading more from this author.

The title to this book is completely apt. The main character, Tyler, is a mysoginistic and selfish person, feeding his sexual needs with any woman who will have him. As we learn more about his background, we realize what - or who - contributed to his sexual history. Returning home after the death of his father, Tyler finds his inheritance contains some shocking material. How he will handle what he discovers is gruesome and twisted. Another warped and immersive story by Rayne Havok. Not for the uninitiated.

Extreme Erotic Horror warning! Tyler Rydek makes his way home to find out about his inheritance after learning of his father’s death. There is a story here somewhere in the last 40% of the novel that might have been interesting had it been developed more. Unfortunately, to get there you have to read page after page of Tyler banging very girl in sight, girls who cannot resist him and are just dying to do everything he wants. As one expects in this kind of fantasy, there is one girl who is not like the others and who just happens to be his girlfriend. Nothing good to say about this.

I know it's wrong to get aroused by this sort of fiction. But I can be wrong, can't I?
Degenerate hangs around longer than some of Havok's work, and is better for it. An emotional rollercoaster - one on which you are expected to have sex with a barrel of decapitated heads. Vomiting. Cheering. Still smiling for the camera.
Some of the best extreme out there. Cracking stuff. Five stars.

This is one fun, erotic, depraved little read. I enjoyed it a lot, but unfortunately for me it was kind of predictable.

Wow
Well this is a great read and not for the easily offended or faint hearted. But it was a great little read and one sick character. But you get so immersed you at first feel empathy for him. You can understand later why he is as he is. Well written with some real nasty parts. All in all a great read, definitely recommend.

This was so unbelievably mediocre and underwhelming.
It can partly be attributed to the fact that I had different expectations (I expected gore), but even without that, the horrible things depicted were not done so in a manner that was horrific. It rather felt like a kink book. Just an entire book full of sex. And I believe that this story could, in fact, have been told in an interesting manner that would have made the reader feel uneasy. Meh writing, meh everything.
So dull, I cannot put it into words how bored I was while stumbling through the endless plot holes.

Another deeply disturbing tale from Rayne Havok. What a blast! I will be creating a shelf on GR as I fully plan on reading every title I can get my hands on by this author. :)

Surprisingly relatable
I thought this story would just be creepy and disturbing. But mostly I found myself strongly empathizing with the main character, Tyler
Not that he was a "good guy." But outside of the exaggerated elements, Tyler's story is not as unrealistic as some may believe. Being conditioned into a sex addict who can't respect or form healthy relationships with women is common in men who were sexually abused by their mothers, friends' mothers, or other adult women as children. In these cases, hypersexual womanizers are often just perceived as degenerate misogynists. But really that behavior is a trauma response. They may not be perfect victims, but I don't blame someone in that situation for not turning out to be a perfectly sane man
Certainly I'm taking this splatterpunk story too seriously and over analyzing the depths of the main character and his relationships. I'm sure it's meant to be nothing other than a story filled with disgusting depraved sexual situations in order to shock readers

Excellent. I don't know what it says about me and don't let dive any deeper into it but fuck did I enjoy this. I really loved this story, how the author revealed his past slowly, and showed his actual character and what he became. I somehow was happy that he was happy in the end. Either I am totally crazy or the author did a pretty good job on making Tyler likable. Both seem possible.

At first I thought that this was erotica with all the sex, but as the story goes along and Tyler learns of his father’s secrets, things go from sexy to terrifying. This story brings a whole new meaning to the term “sex slave”.

This is definitely a twisted warped book. This tested my limits. Rayne can surly make your skin crawl. You dirty little minx!

What the actual fuck????? First of all, if i had known that this was going to be so explicit I wouldn’t have picked it up. This is not even horror, it’s just disgusting and not in an interesting way. And the writing is so cheap.

Another fun ride by Rayne Havok. I literally read this in two hours it's always a page turner. She manages to get you feeling hot and heavy and dirty all at the same time. Tyler is definitely a degenerate to the next level.

This is a rather disturbing read, but not really for the reasons the other reviewers have stated.
The book is short, only around 130 pages. But the real meat of the story doesn’t begin until after the 50% mark. This is way too slow for a novel and even worse for a shorter story.
The main character, Tyler, is immediately unlikable. He is arrogant, cruel and misogynistic. His behaviour is deplorable and did nothing to engage me with the story.
I almost stopped reading at 47% as the story was so slow and Tyler unlikable. But the fan girl type reviews kept me reading.
As I made my way through the last 45% of the book I felt distanced from the whole thing. What was happening was reasonably horrific but because of this distance I had a very minimised reaction. I didn’t have an ‘OMG’ moment nor did I fight bile creeping up my throat. That’s a shame. I was expecting to be disgusted.
The big reveal was muted and felt very stilted. The ending was also rushed. Detail should be given to the acts, to let the reader experience it like they’re there with Tyler. Make them feel his arousal. Make them feel disgusted at the fact they’re reading the story and can’t put it down.
What I’d have liked to see was a much more in-depth coverage of the last 45% of the story. A change in the writing style to encourage engagement from the reader. Even if we’re meant to dislike Tyler you need to give us someone to like. Perhaps Cammie could have been this for us?
What I did enjoy was the interesting concepts that Tyler’s dad developed. The science behind it might be a bit fuzzy, but it’s something rather new and exciting. I would have liked more on this.
As a reader of horror and extreme dark erotica, this fell well short of my expectations. Not to mention the book blurb has very little information in it. It does little to hook the reader. I only picked this up because someone recommended it to me on GR.
Content wise this has some serious triggers: incest, necrophilia, rape and abuse. This is not explained in the book entry on GR or on Amazon which is worrying as I’m pretty sure it contradicts a number of Amazon’s content rules. The cover does have an extreme content warning on it, but I think more should be done to stop unsuspecting readers from stumbling onto this.
The writing was reasonably free from errors, but I did note a couple of things:
15% - ...don’t you?” Licking the last bit of my milky white dribble (this doesn’t make sense)
26% - is she not wearing underwear? Might be good to clarify.
44% - ...hurt her feelings - I just want (t)his over with,(replace with a full stop)
45% - ...an awful cook in the kitchen (in the kitchen is redundant. Delete)
- She has never been (the) type to hug...
While this wasn’t great, I think Rayne’s ideas are worth another look. I’ll probably peruse her other works at some point in the future.

I’m really enjoying this author. Her books are dark, very dark. There is always a twist or surprise which I don’t see coming and I hear myself saying bloody hell.

Tyler is fucked up, but his sex experiences in the beginning are pretty good. It starts off with some sexual encounter's and from there it only gets more messed up.Tyler only cares about himself. When you find out more about Tyler you can understand him more. Great story.

What's it about?
This is a novella about a young man that travels back home after his father passes away. He finds a dark family secret when he gets there.
I will say out of all the novellas and short stories of Rayne I have read, this is my least favorite (so far) and that does not mean it's bad! I think part of this is purely because I have high standards with what she writes & I know what she can do with the horror side of things. The other half of it is that it feels more like an erotica book with a small bit of horror. You'll get lots of sex in here, which is probably an understatement! While this is common in the splatter genre and I don't mind it one bit, I was missing the tense moments and buildup of something that was gonna leave me in awe. When the horror part happened it just...was there. There was nothing mysterious about it or left me going "oh god, what is going to happen now?". Was it fucked up? Yes. Is it something you won't read often? Absolutely. I still say read it, but perhaps check out her other works to get a taste of what she is capable of!
The man in this is exploring his home town that he left behind for a reason, and when his mother is missing when he gets there, he finds it a little off. He's into fucking every woman in sight and takes great pleasure in it. He's got a few screws loose and you'll find out why later on. The last quarter of the book is where the horror elements come in and it's different from many of the other books I've read, making it enjoyable!
Read if you like: dark erotica, have one too many family secrets, and want something quick to devour.

trauma that I did not ask for
The writing is cheap. Reads like a creepy pasta or watt pad smut. Guessed the two plot twists easily. Misogyny through the whole book. I guessed all the characters are designed to be hated by the readers. Really unpleasant reading experience. Probably would have been nice if this is shorten and just be a creepy pasta.
