He Just Wants to Play a Little...
THE BOY by Rayne Havok
No spoilers. 2 stars. Chop leaves the bar, his usual hangout. He's drunk and restless. He decides to walk home to avoid a DUI...
He meets a whore along the way that wants to hook up with him, but he slaps her on the butt and walks away...
Not interested tonight...
Chop can't stop thinking about the thing that lives inside him. That itch. That little demon...
But...
Lately, it has been getting more demanding...
He enters a neighborhood, lost in a fantasy about the thing that he craves...
The need...
He passes an open window, and the urge hits him like a ton of bricks. From the window of the house, he sees 3 men, 3 women, and 3 teens...
Hiding in the darkness, he spots an uptight, snobby-looking woman. She is perfect. He is hard, but instant gratification is not his thing...
He loves the chase...
He checks his waistband for his gun and heads for the door with a story of his truck breaking down...
He doesn't look like the monster hiding within...
He pulls out his gun, enters the house, and the people inside freeze in shock as a collective whole...
He thanks the false sense of security gods. He tells the people nothing too bad will happen tonight...
He just wants to play a little...
I am of the camp that doesn't get enjoyment reading about rape just for the shock value. I went into this story blind, and now I really feel blinded for reading it.
I agree with some reviewers that there wasn't much of a plot here, unlike this author's THE EMBALMER (which I thoroughly enjoyed).
Warning to some readers: vicious rape content and murder is a large portion of this story, as are necrophilia and mental abuse. If you or someone you know has suffered a degrading criminal rape, you might want to avoid this novella.
