Weston Wallace has his life on track, from the family business he helps run, to capturing the heart of a beautiful local he plans to marry.
One night.
That's all it takes for everything to fall apart.
Broken and lost, Weston loses his ability to move forward. Unable to cope, he falls victim to his own despair, but he's not the only one hurting. The question is, will he open his heart to forgiveness, or are some losses too painful to recover from?
Jennifer Foor is an award winning Contemporary Romance Author. She's best known for the Mitchell Family Series, which includes ten books. With over forty published titles, there is a story for every interest. Her books can be found on most platforms and in paperback. She is married with two children and spends most of her time behind a keyboard, creating and writing stories straight from her heart.
Weston Wallace had everything he ever wanted, he was helping run the family business, he was in love with a beautiful woman (Brice) he planned to marry and a baby on the way. In other words the man was a walking hallmark card that's how happy he was until one faithful night when he lost it all.
West lost a part of his soul when the love of life and unborn child died that horrible night, he was unable to move forward. Lost in his pain, West withdrew from his family and friends. The Wallaces don't handle pain well, they tend to shut people out and self destruct. Not wanting to go down that path again, West left Chincoteague Island and went stay with a friend of his in Alaska.
Kimber Carpenter had always been seeking actions by acting, she felt like she was living in her big sister's shadow. Even though she would act like a spoil brat, Brice loved Kimber very much and she was the one persom who truly understood her.
When one phone call changed many lives, Kimber found herself without the one person who really loved her in the world. Guilt ridden, broken and looking for redemption, Kimber tried reaching out to the one person who loved Brice as much or more than she did...Weston Wallace.
She knew he wouldn't want anything to do with her after she shattered his world but she never gave up and kept reaching out to him. West didn't want nor cared to hear what Kimber had to say but when he finally read her letters. He realized that her words were like a bum to his soul cause for a few seconds Brice felt alive again.
Weston finally found his way back home on his way he encountered Kimber and saw that she too was in a very bad place. Though he was coming out of his abyss, she was still in hers. They were never friends but their mutual grief and love for Brice started a friendship that turned into something none of them expected.
WAVES OF DESPAIR is book 4 in Jennifer Foor's OYSTER COVE series. It was a great, emotional and breathtaking book. Jennifer Foor did an astonishing job!
I am loving this series, Waves of Despair is another great addition to a series. It that will grab at your heart and not let go. Jenn Foor will real you in with the love and connection of Weston (West) and Brice, West may have had to fight for the woman who has captured his heart but their love for one another is like no other as they embark on the next step in their lives together.
When tragedy strikes it takes it toll, West has already self destructed once and now he's experiencing that pain on another level again. No matter where he looks or goes, memories that are embedded are a constant reminder of the future he will no longer have. Time away from the island is what he needs to get through, Alaska has opportunities and it's solitude is what he needs right now.
Sometimes when you least expect it a random act can help mend a broken heart and lead a path to happiness and a new future.
This was a bit of a miss for me. I really didn't connect with either character. I would have liked to have seen some of the relationship developing in the 1 month, 3 month time jumps. We get so much of Weston and Brice, I felt we got a little cheated in the Brice and Kimber part of the story. I will say, I love the epilogue!!
Wow, Jenn really did an outstanding job with this one. With the book title and the family history, I knew something sad was going to happen. I just wasn't prepared for how tragic it would be. As I read I kept waiting to see what it was going to be, and I was surprised and then even more surprised with what comes next! There is also passion and humor, but have a tissue or two handy. I think my pillow thought it was at the edge of the ocean one night as my tears rolled down my checks to soak it. And now a bit about the story...
West has fallen for the town "good girl". And after a long time telling her his life story, she falls for him too. Her father hates him, her mother doesn't like him, and then there is the younger sister - she could give him a run for his bad boy days... After living together for years, he takes her to their favorite spot, the town's lighthouse, and proposes on Christmas Eve. Her answer is still resounding yes, and her surprise for him... their pregnant! Deciding to keep the pregnancy a secret a few more weeks, they plan for the reaction of her parents to the engagement. Let's just say the Christmas celebration end early... But what comes next, I never could have guessed. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have!
Favorite passages: - “You made me drop my wiener.” - “The truth is we never know when we’re going to leave this earth. We have one life and I’d like to spend my time with my best friend. I’ll go slow. I’ll stop if that’s what you need, but don’t you ever think I don’t want you for who you are to me.” - “Okay, okay. I’ll be good, but you have to admit, this is going make his butthole pucker.” - “I am in love.” “With me or the bike?” She asks. I take her back into my arms. “Please don’t make me choose right now.”
This story was so emotional you had me crying one min and feeling what your characters were feeling the next. I am happy they both have a happy ending. They deserved it. Thank you so much for this story. I loved it.
Jenn warned me I was going to hate her...and I did. OMG, I did!! She tore my heart out, shredded it to pieces!! I cried so so so very hard for Weston!! I so did!! I didn't rate this 5 stars because I'm still not sure I loved Kimber....or him with Kimber... I did love that Kimber put her foot down. I did love that in the end, Weston gets everything he's wished for... But...I'm not sure I loved it to be with Kimber... The jury is still out on that one. 4 stars.
I read this book as a beta reader; given an advanced copy.
I started this book at 10:15; read 25% of it, and had to get some sleep. As soon as I got home, I immediately dove back in and just finished it. I always seem to think that the current Jenn Foor book is the best, topping the last, but this one; hands down my all-time favorite of any series, of all that she's ever written. It was so incredibly beautiful; such developed characters and story line that you just cannot put it down.
I'm not one to reread a book; but I am going start it over yet tonight. The book could be read as a stand alone; but you might as well read the series. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Absolutely beautiful. I read everything by Jennifer Foor, I easily fall in love with her books, her stories and her characters. So when I sat down with Waves of Despair I knew I would love it. What I wasn't expecting was to fall deeply in love with it. It is beautiful and heart breaking. I cried like a baby and kept screaming for more. This book is everything. I am honestly in awe of it. You've gotta read it.
This book has it all, emotions, angst, ugly cries, giggles, I could keep going. Jenn has delivered my favorite of the Oyster Cover series yet.
West and Brice have it all, a fairytale life together with a love that has grown stronger over time. starting out as friends, their attraction escalates into sharing a life together.
But not is all as it seems, dive into this one, it'll make you want to keep reading til the very last page.
This book is AMAZING! Jenn managed to have me sobbing like a huge baby! Some people might think this story is unconventional, but I thought it was absolutely perfect! The Wallace brothers are so perfect, HOT and well mannered due to their up bringing. Mix in a female to settle them down and they break out the romance! Honestly I love Weston just as much as I did Brant, maybe even a little more for all he went through!
Thats what West has to ask himself. He thought he had everything and one fateful night takes all he loved away.
This is one of Jenns most emotional reads. When you read the blurb you have an idea what is going to happen in the book and when you start to read you get a feeling you know where its going. My reaction to this was no way is she gonna pull this off, but Jenn has an amazing talent for making the unbelievable believable.
My heart was ripped out and i cried along with West and didn't think he was ever gonna recover but with the help of some heart felt selfless letters he started to smile again.
Dont think for one moment that this book is all doom and gloom far from it this book also made me lol. Picture this a grown man a small shower and a very cheeky dog.
Jenn takes you through all emotions possible and makes you work for the very HEA.
