Growing up with an absentee father never prepared her for the dysfunctional family journey she finds herself living.
Heather Jones is settling in Montana as if her dad had never left her, the club had always been her family, and the women at Pine Bar and Grill were her life-long friends. Meeting Rod, the sexiest biker of Ronacks, distracts her in the most delicious way from the heartache she knows is coming. Because eventually, everyone she loves always ends up leaving her.
Only he can keep her alive.
As vice president of Ronacks Motorcycle Club, Rod wanted Heather the moment her fist hit his mouth. He should've known better than to believe the danger spinning around him wouldn't touch her. All the weapons, high security, and even his club can't protect Heather against the storm.
Debra Kayn is published by Grand Central Publishing, Simon & Schuster Publishing, Carina Press - Harlequin Enterprises Limited, and is also a hybrid author who publishes independently. She's repped by FinePrint Literary Management and is a member of RWA. A multi-bestseller, she always has another book coming soon.
Believing everyone deserves to love and be loved, she takes the most unlikely characters and turns them into heroes and heroines.
She lives with her family in the Bitterroot Mountains of beautiful North Idaho, where she enjoys the outdoors, the four seasons, and the wild animals that gather in her yard.
I love Debra's writing style. She grabs me from page one and I love the journeys she takes me on. In this book we have Rod the VP that, like most of the members, has kept his past close to his chest and Heather who is Swiss's (book 2) daughter. The suspense in this story is well thought out. Even at the end, it was shown what a clever game was played. These two both have a boatload of baggage but put in the effort to work past it. They weren't my favorite couple of the series, but I wanted a happy ending for them. Can't wait for the next book!
Good story but also very sad. It deals with mental health issues which I'm very familiar with as I work with people with those same issues. This story drives home the point of not being diagnosed properly and also he was more psychotic than just having to deal with bipolar disorder. What Rod had to go through as a child, teens and even in adulthood is heartbreaking even until the end. Heather has her own issues dealing with being abandoned by everyone in her life at some point or another.
Author Debra Kayn never fails to deliver a powerful, gripping and thrilling story with each book she releases and Rather Be Wrong was no exception. Seriously, this one she really had me at the edge of my seat with my heart pumping and stomach dropping at what she put her characters through. Things are not always as they seem and she proved that as Rod's past is revealed and what he's had to endure his entire life. I've been looking forward to Rod and Heather's story ever since their eventful first meeting. Heather shows both her strength and vulnerability as she becomes Rod's woman and being part of the Ronacks family. I loved the interaction with her dad, Swiss and it was heartwarming to see them bond after so many years apart. I love how this author delves deeply into the lives of her characters and gives us the good, bad and ugly without missing a beat and just makes us feel. I loved every minute of reading this book and I cannot wait to see what this author has in store for us next.
I cannot say it enough...Debra Kayn is a wonderful writer! Just like all of her previous books (and I've read them all), this book grasped me and wouldn't let go.
Hitting very close to home for me (I grew up with a schizophrenic mother and brother), I hated what Tim's illness did to his brother, Rod, and their mother.
Heather and Rod are flirting and getting to know each other when the unthinkable happens...Rod is attacked and left for dead. While Heather nurses him back to health they both end up falling in love!
Take a ride on the Ronack's bike and buy this book to read! If you haven't yet, you'll want to read the whole series!!
I just don't know if I can read the next book. The only thing I didn't like was i cringed every time I read the name Dukie because it sounds identical to what we called poop when I was a kid. Since the next book is about his mom I figure his name will appear alot. LoL
We learned about Heather briefly in a previous book. This is from her perspective about her abandonment issues and how she had latched onto the VP. Whether it's to feel safe or is it love
This hit home, hard. It's not only a great mc\love story, it hits on the head for people, myself included, who live w\ having a family member that suffers from mental\emotional problems.
Emotional. Hit home, hard. Not only is it a great mc\love story, it hit head on the issues people, myself included, go through having a family member suffering from mental\emotional problems. My fav one, yet.
This story had an interesting development happening. After finishing I couldn’t quite decided if it should be three or four stars but decided to go with three. It was an entertaing read and kept me mostly hooked (for that I would give it 4 stars). However, the whole deal with Heather and her father drove me kinds crazy. She has all these emotional issues due to her dad leaving but she never actually tries talking to him about any of it. She doesn’t ask him to explain what happened even after she knows something more happened then him just getting up and leaving. Then she uses this as her emotional crunch, where on one hand I understand that but it just became too annoying when she never would confront her father about what happened. I just kept waiting and it didn’t seem to happen. Now for Rod, there were times I loved him as a hero. I just wish that we were able to see a little more character development from them all. Kayn (in this series) has a thing about men not sharing their deepest parts of themselves with their brothers (mc club) and a part of me is like okay for Rod I could see that. But the whole no one knowing about Heather bit is kinda weird to me. Anyways an overall enjoyable read but not going on my favorites.
Heather has been abandoned by all the people she loved, but is an independent woman who has dedicated her life in helping others. After being reunited with her father, she finds a new family under the protection of Ronacks MC. She is attracted to Rod, the vice president, and starts to hope that her life will change and she will find love and acceptance. Rod has fallen for her from the moment he first saw her. He has managed to survive a horrible childhood and his only true family is Ronacks MC. But an enemy from his past emerges and no one is safe. He is the only one that can protect Heather even at the cost of his own life. I love Debra Kayn's books because her characters are always original and Rather Be Wrong is another amazing read. Heather is a strong and independent woman and Rod is a real man who's not afraid to show his love for his woman. They both realize that family is all about the people who really care for us and show us their love. This is the third book in the Ronacks MC series but can be read as a standalone.

I'm a big fan of this series and I was waiting patiently to see how Heather's story turned out! We first meet her in her dad's story, after learning she sent Gia to Swiss for protection. She ends up moving to Montana in the duplex right next to her dad and Gia. In comes Rod, the first time she met him, she decked him in the face because he was standing near her car and scared her. Sparks flew ever since. Rod felt conflicted about pursuing her because she was Swiss' daughter but knew there was a connection. I also enjoyed getting to see Heather connect with her father. This is more of a romantic thriller because Rod's brother, who is mentally unstable, attacks Rod and puts everyone in danger. He has to find a way to stop his brother and keep Heather safe at the same time - great read! I love this series and how she keeps you on edge.
I loved this story. Of course I liked the motorcycle family but this book was a little different than the rest of the books. This story had a dog as part of the main story. I loved how the dog was a stray and little by little warmed up to the main character, Rod. The dog trusted no one but Rod. Heather came into Rod life and it took a long time for the dog, Girl, to warm up to Heather. The dog ended up being a hero. But this story is much more than a dog story. Rod has one crazy brother!
Rod's story surprised me, I missed the close knit group of the club. I understand the story needed the isolation but some of that made it hard to relate to the characters. Good story, unique and well played out.
Ronacks MC are a breed all their own but they take care of what's theirs and love something fierce. Rod the VP is no different but his view of what family is or should be is drastically different. Heather, Swiss' daughter, has only known her family to leave and she is holding onto her new family as tight as she can.
I give this book four stars because it was ok at to me . I was looking forward to reading this book and I got my wish, but I so wanted more in this book and I felt I didn't get that. That why I give this book four stars and not five. This is the first time I read Debra Kayn book and I'm happy I took a chance with this MC book.
One of the most consistent things about a Debra Kayn book is, you always get more than you expect. It's always a great story, a HEA and usually a hero you can't help rooting for. But you also get something that makes you go hmmmm. Can't wait for the next book already!!
This was positively incredible. Lots of things going on here !! Hot bikers !! Crazy man on the loose !! Lots of love !! Heather and Rod are such an awesome couple. Love this series !! Recommend it to anyone who loves a good MC read !! Looking forward to Mel and Raelyn's story. I have a feeling it's going to be the best one yet !! And that's saying a lot !!
Ms Kayn writes the best action packed hard living man that you can't help but love.Rod and Heather had smoking hot chemistry and there's alway action and your never sure what will happen next. Can't wait for her next book!
