Not sure about other people but organisational behaviour and politics is something I have to learn and navigate on my own outside formal education, yet it plays such a significant role in your career.
Some of the chapters in this book really spoke to me, that I wish I had read it sooner.
Although workplace politics isn’t my thing, it’s unavoidable and I rather play it than be played.
Rescued this from the book boneyard - that ever growing pile of half read books in my office. Started this for a project and then set it aside, but glad I finished it. Some great articles, especially Watkins’ How managers become leaders.
I like compilations like this, good selections, nice array of topics. If you are looking for a managerial deep dive, this isn’t it.
A great compilation of articles that are very relevant to new and seasoned managers, and managers in leadership roles. From transitioning to a new role, to emotional intelligence, networking and dealing with difficult situations.
I will definitely come back to review some of the content at a later date.
This book is great for not only new managers but also tenured managers. Easy to read and follow - lessons are fairly timeless and important for all levels of managers.
