Rate this book
In the final chapter of the Ember Peak series, Tru and Jones face an unexpected challenge on their road to happy ever after.

Tru and Jones never expected riding off into the sunset to be easy. Their relationship’s script has never been silver-screen smooth or shiny. But dealing with life’s boulders, washouts, and irksome little details seems downright easy now…because they’re facing each bump in the road together.

But when Tru’s sister announces she wants—and desperately needs—him and Jones to adopt her baby, the new couple’s notions of family, home, their upcoming marriage, and even living at Ember Peak are flung into chaos.

They’ve defined themselves as lovers, partners, and future husbands—but are they ready, and do they even want to be, fathers? If they are to form a forever family, Tru and Jones will have to help each other navigate a new path they never expected to travel.

This last book in Jones and Tru's story solidified them as permanent members on my "favorite couples" shelf. I absolutely adore them!!

He knew the rhythm. We'd created the rhythm together. It was ours, a dance we'd learned a long time ago..."

Jones and Tru are put in a tough predicament in this book. Sandra has decided to put her newborn baby up for adoption and she can't think of any better pair to raise him than her brother and best friend.

I have to be honest here...I've never been a Sandra fan, and this book moved me into the "I hate you" category. What she did was pretty much emotional blackmail. She dumped the child in their lap, jetted off to get treatment for her issues (which I'm glad she finally recognized that she needs) and left them to deal with what to do. She gave them two choices....raise the baby or my attorney will be by to pick him up so he can be put up for adoption. Seriously?!?! Yeah Sandra...Fuck you.

Of course for Tru and Jones, there was no other option but for them to raise him. Both men were in love with the little boy before Sandra's bombshell, but now their feelings have shifted from cool uncles...to fatherhood. Jones is scared but ready to face fatherhood, but Tru...not so much.

The book focuses on the ranch coming together to form an even tighter and closer family. It takes you on a journey of the frustrations, anxiety and sleeplessness that comes with parenthood. But most importantly, the littlest Ember Peak family member forces Tru to look within himself and face his history and his own feelings about his father, his mother and what it means to be a family.

Throughout all of the ups and downs, never for one second do you doubt Tru and Jones. Their love is still growing and shifting, but it's there and it's their security...the protective layer from any of life's obstacles. And the one thing they could always count on.

Jones was there to catch me, collapse with me, hold me as my heart slowed and my body reminded me I was only a man, with all the pain in the ass physical limitations that went along with it.

"I love you," I whispered to the man beside me, because love took away a few of those limits.

These two men had me swooning even during times of chaos.

"You never cut off my circulation. You leave spaces so I can breathe. And you understand that sometimes I just need you all around me."

Watching Tru struggle was difficult, but the payoff was so rewarding. Jones and the entire Ember Peak gang (loved every single one of them...especially Gunnar - - that big softy of a bear) knew that Tru would come into his own....he just needed the right combination of patience and pushing. And when he got there....sigh....

"But I know you'll be patient with me, at least for a few seconds. Because your daddy is a Hudson and he's been putting his stamp on you. Lucky for all of us."

I may not have been happy with how this new family was formed, or Sandra's character at all, but no matter what...Tru and Jones were the star of this show. And they blinded me with love.

"I was thinking that maybe the most awesome part about tonight is knowing we get to wake up tomorrow together...Kinda like we do every day, right?"

"Yep...Exactly like that."

I'm sad to see this series come to an end, but I know I'll be revisiting Tru and Jones in many rereads to come. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a future book for my favorite softy bear Gunnar....and maybe a certain

Well I'm sad to say good-bye to Tru and Jones - they are one of my all-time favorite couples. Now with that being said, some things I've taken away from this series are:

(1) I do not like Sandra.

(2) Tru and Jones have sex at the strangest, most unexpected times.

But that's okay, I could forgive that. ;)

(3) Nothing, and I mean nothing was easy for Tru and Jones. But that just made me love them more.

So yeah, things were a bit messy. Their relationship wasn't picture perfect. And I didn't always love how things played out. But I never once didn't believe in Tru and Jones and the love they had for each other.

PS - I REALLY, REALLY hope we get a Gunnar book!

2.5 Stars, but rounded up this time because there was actually a five minute span where I didn't rage.

Holy shit storm, Batman...

You might recall in my very ranty review of Tru Burn that Sandra absolutely killed my enjoyment of the story. Well, at the end of that book, she made an innocent sounding, but foreboding, comment that just had me going "please, no...anything but that".

And after reading the blurb for this book, I readjusted my hopes and instead, hoped that Sandra would at least go about her plan in the right way. Talk to Tru and Jones about what she wanted and at least give them time to think about their options. But, no, she did this very important, life changing thing in the worst possible way, and even used emotional blackmail to make sure that Tru complied with her wishes. All of that happened in the first chapter.

And even being warned about it by my friends that read Tru Flame before me, it still pissed me off enough that I wrote several ragey paragraphs dedicated to Sandra. Some of that rage is below (and above). I've edited it down a bit (you're welcome), but seriously, folks, I'm not happy with where this story went.

Sandra knew months ago that she didn't want to be a parent and that the baby would be going up for adoption. She could have talked to Tru and Jones about it, then, but no, she took the cowards way out, just like she always has. And they let her do it. Now, I get why they didn't fight her on it when all this happened, but it's inexcusable to me that they would even have to. But, also, I don't agree with just letting her walk all over them, especially for something this monumental.

Sandra's fucking with their lives doesn't even stop with the "guess what, guys, you're going to be parents because I can't be bothered" BS, either. Oh, no. Tru and Jones aren't even married yet. They're planning their wedding and have set the time frame for summer. But with the news of them adopting the kid, or else, they're having to change those plans, too. Talk about Drama Llama!

So this is the tone of the entire book. Have plans, guys? Too bad! You've got to deal with someone else's bad planning and cowardly actions, instead. Want to sleep or get sexy? Too bad, you've got a newborn, now, and he isn't on your schedule! Thankfully, they do manage some sexy-times, but let me tell ya, reading about trying to schedule sex and sleep around an infant's schedule is not why I read romance.

Sandra didn't want children. That's fair, and I get it. I never wanted children, either (and I don't have any). But it never once occurred to her to even ask Tru and Jones if they did? She just decided to drop parenthood on them, like it was some sort of goddamn gift basket. Who does this? I'm sure that parenthood can be very rewarding. It's also a major responsibility. You don't just hand someone a baby and say "you're the parent now -- surprise!!".

Why? Because, that isn't cool. At. All.

It's a given that Tru and Jones wouldn't want the baby to go to an anonymous family - I would totally expect that if Sandra had talked to them to begin with, they would have decided to adopt the baby and they would have planned for it. But here's the thing -- Tru never wanted to be a father and now he has little choice in the matter and no time to even get used to the idea. Does he seem to change his mind by the end of the story? Yeah, but again, he didn't really have much choice. Personally, I think he just resigned himself to fatherhood and decided to make the best of it.

I love this author, I do. But I absolutely hate where she took this story. It's full of family drama and it didn't have to be. And, all the way through Tru Burn and for a fair portion of Tru Flame, I just wanted it to end. I only finished it because I love Tru and Jones as a couple and I wanted to give the story a chance to redeem itself. But man, it wasn't easy and I kinda wish I would have stopped at book 1. And while I didn't hate the entirety of this book, I didn't really like it, either. It was just too much drama that could have been avoided by having a single conversation.

Also, to Sandra Larkin, I have this to say -- FUCK YOU, YOU SELFISH BAG OF DICKS!

I don't even know what to say in this review. The writing. The writing is the only thing that saved this book. This author is a 5-star writer for me, so I'm really frustrated that I'm going with 3 stars, barely, because of how much I hated the events and Sandra in this book. This will be ranty. You've been warned.

What was hinted at in Book 2 actually did happen. In Chapter 1!!!! Sandra did it, yall. She fucking did it. So this was me the entire book as the events played out:

Really, this review is devoted to Sandra:

As for Tru and Jones, they didn't say a peep about it. Not one peep. They just allowed her to pull her epic failure as a human being and gave her a pat on the back for doing it.

Was her behavior explained? Sure.

Do I fucking care? Nope. Nope. Nope.

No one should be enabled to be that much of an asshole. I cannot erase this clusterfuck of events off my Kindle quickly enough. Shame because I adore these two MCs and am really freakin aggravated that Danford took it in this direction.

~3.5 stars~

Such a hard review to write. Some parts I loved, some others...not so much. And a certain part made me all ragey. I'm rounding up, because in the end, all that mattered to me is that Tru and Jones are one of the best couples ever.

The chemistry and the the connection they share is phenomenal. Take it from someone who doesn't like series that feature the same couple. Tru and Jones not only didn't bore me, but I was thirsty for the scenes that it was just the two of them, living teir HEA. The steamy scenes are just AMAZING!

I also liked the secondary characters, and the way they all came together and form a family that supports Tru and Jones 100%.

The writing is magnificent. Edie Danford is extremely talented with words, and she can really make me feel.

Now on to the ragey part. For the love of everything that's holy, why, Sandra, why? We finally get an explanation about her behaviour, and trust me, I tried to be understanding, but she went about it all wrong. Leaving without a warning, leaving the baby with Tru and Jones asking them to adopt him or put him up for adoption, because apparently she can't and doesn't want to be a parent...emotional blackmail, byotch!!!

I rarely let secondary characters ruin my mood or influence my rating but the whole thing is what drives the plot here. So yes, Tru and Jones get their amazing HEA, and become a family. But I hated the way this family was formed, I hated the fact that Tru and Jones were rushed to get married, I hated the fact that they kept walking on eggshells around Sandra until the last minute. And you know what I hated the most? That I can't shake the feeling that Tru did NOT want to be a father. The man wanted to be an uncle. I did not buy his change of heart, sorry.

Despite everything, Tru and Jones have a special place in my heart, and I'm looking forward to more books by Eddie Danford. Bring Gunnar!

This made me super ragey. I didn't enjoy it much at all. Once again Sandra and her crap take over. Their was wayyyyy to much baby, and nowhere near enough Tru and Jones. I really like this couple, but this final book ruined it for me.

Tru and Jones have become one of my favorite m/m couples ever and writing this review is hard because this is the last book in the series and it’s like saying goodbye. Hopefully Ms. Danford will include them as secondary characters in a future spin off coz the ‘Trunes’ couple is just the greatest.

In this last leg of their journey, Tru and Jones are thrown another curveball as Sandra decides to dump her kid on them and jetset off to rehab to get treatment. After her behavior in the last book I was kind of hoping she will change for the better but her character deteriorates to a whole new level of a ‘Selfish BITCH’. She literally blackmails her brother and Jones to adopt the kid which in turn forces them to change every plans they had regarding their future in a hurry. So, yeah Sandra is the ‘wicked witch of Ember Peaks’ for me. Her reasons behind her decision are explained but I so did not care after the stupid and selfish stunt she pulls on my favorite couple.

Tru and Jones are suddenly fathers and they are scared shitless as to how to handle parenthood to the best of their abilities. Jones, the sweetheart that he is, is totally ready to take care of his little son and embrace being a full time parent but Tru, not so much. After a shitty childhood with an asshole father, Tru has vowed to never be a father himself and so this new situation throws him off his game completely.

The story progresses as the couple struggle their way through ‘late-nights’, ‘sleeplessness’, ‘an ever hungry baby’, ‘endless diaper change’ and a completely erratic routine. They do their best with all the employees of ‘Ember Peak’ coming together as a family to help them in their scary but absolutely beautiful adventure of being parents. There is anxiety and doubts as Jones falls head over heels for little ‘Sam’ and Tru mends bridges with his mother and works on his issues to truly appreciate and love their precious bundle of joy.

Throughout all the chaos, Tru and Jones’s love is as solid as ever. They had each other’s back through everything life threw at them. With the new addition to their family their love just grows more and heart achingly overwhelming to include ‘little Sam’. They were a solid unit as always and I loved seeing them becoming a family.
”Jones’s love was the one pure form of energy in my life. The fuel that made my worn-out heart hum and my world-weary hopes rev. ~ Tru

I am very happy with how the story ends but not the way it comes about. I wanted Tru and Jones to actually want to get married and not forced into it because of Sandra. I wanted them to actually decide to have children rather than saddled with one without any warning. So yeah I was little disappointed with how the ending came about but ultimately they did get their much deserved HEA despite the odds so it was worth it.

I am going to miss Tru and Jones terribly*pouts*

Hopefully we will get a new spin-off series from Ms. Danford soon enough coz there were few hints as to who the next couple is going to be. *cough*a grizzly bear*cough* for starters, if you know what I mean*wink*

Few Bonus Quotes

Tru and Jones’s marriage vows
“Jones, I love you, and I want to spend my life with you. I would consider it the greatest honor of my life—” His voice cracked a little, but he went steadily on. “—if you would accept my vow to cherish you and care for you and be your partner. From now until…forever.”

“I love you, Tru. And I want to spend my life with you. I want to live in your heart forever and I want you to live in mine.” I had to stop to swallow some more tears because this solemn shit was solemn. But also joyful—and it was a known fact that joy could make me tear up, too. There are so many things I could say about the way I feel, but mostly my love for you is as big and as constant as a mountain or the ocean or the sky. I vow to be there for you for all the joy and pain life gives us. From now until forever.”

The book started out in such an unfair and selfish manor I was unsure as to whether this was even going to be enjoyable. Coming off Tru Burn and the total difference in feel from Tru Smoke didn’t leave me with much hope.

I kind of knew it was going to happen. Actually, I for sure knew it was going to happen. Can I believe how it happened? No. Honestly, I am a little shocked that this is the road the author took. But yeah, I expected it. Did it suck? Pretty much.

Am I happy at how it all went down? No, not really but I really do love reading about these boys and this was no exception. Whether they wanted this or not, whether it was unfair they had to accept this or not, figuring it out together was the focus here and I was very happy it was about them.

I ended up being swept up in all that is Jones and Tru. I felt relieved. I felt this book read more like how the series started and whatever drove me kind of crazy in the last book didn’t happen here. Unfairness and shock factor aside, this took me back to what I fell in love with about these boys to begin with.

Lightning can’t strike twice in the same place or whatever it is they say so the magic of Tru Smoke just never got replicated in this trilogy. You know, that is ok too. It happens. At least with this one I felt a bit more grounded.

Reading about Tru facing his demons and conquering them was way more than enough for me. Watching Jones be a true strength and force to reckoned with was very much welcomed.

Wishing they would cut ties with Sandra not happening was a little disappointing. Sorry, that was not very nice of me but she’s an ungrateful and selfish bitch to be honest and I hate her.

Anyway, I’d have loved for this trilogy to have been five stars across the board but I am ok with what it was. Honestly, I rated the last book a lot higher than what I remembered so that is telling in its own way.

The end was quite lovely.

I’m a little sad to have to say goodbye to them.

4.5 Stars ~ Tru and Jones are happy in their engagement, and they are ecstatic to welcome Sandra’s baby. They have both been there for her when everything had gone sideways. But then, they are forced to take on parenthood very suddenly with exactly zero preparation. Tru has so many hang-ups about his own upbringing that his tension with the baby, once he realizes he’s going to be responsible for this new life, is nearly overwhelming. He may be able to manage a ranch and a billion-dollar company, but he’s finding, as all parents do, that the stakes are so much higher when the responsibility for a helpless life comes calling.

Jones is excited, apprehensive and constantly exhausted as he attempts to take on fatherhood, and while he could not love the baby more, he is concerned about Tru and his reaction. Jones learns pretty quickly he’s going to have to speak up and put his foot down on some things, or Tru will run right over him—and everyone else. It’s a lot of work to take care of a newborn and also wrangle a very uptight fiancé. Add in a few helpful but borderline intrusive friends and employees, and Jones is aware that he just might lose his mind.

Once again, Tru has some ideas of how things should go and how he would like them to be, but he soon finds out that babies and fiancés don’t always cooperate. And of course that frustrates him to no end. But he has learned some things and when Jones tells him ‘no’ on some issues, Tru has finally learned to listen. Also, it doesn’t hurt that he is still a little bit jealous and quite possessive of Jones.

When there is an emergency and Jones has to leave, Tru realizes, finally, that he needs to step up. At first he struggles quite a lot, but soon he gets the hang of things and can finally let go of some of his past. He does get help from his friends, employees and, of course, Jones. And having an adorable baby around isn’t such a hardship either.

I have to say I really just loved this story. This is the real and romantic and just completely perfect final chapter for this couple. It was wonderful to watch them gain their footing as parents and be able to see that they wouldn’t lose themselves, and that they could have help and not relinquish their responsibilities. I loved all of the secondary characters in this series as well, and Sandra redeemed herself beautifully in this story. I cheered for this couple and their new family, from page one, and was left with a huge dreamy smile by the last page. My only complaint is that the series is over. I hope maybe someday we can revisit this couple—maybe with getting Gunnar’s HEA, or Sandra’s?? Pretty please??

A thousand feelings and a favorite couple

You know how you have those crazy soft, worn in sweaters that you can bundle up in and the outside world melts away? That’s how I felt when I opened this book. I wasn’t sure I was ready to say goodbye to this couple because I adore them so much, but reading about their love warms my soul. It’s powerful and epic, and can beat any odds. And wow did they face a big one in the third and final book of the series.

I’m typically not a huge fan of series that involve the same couple over multiple books. Often the conflicts start to feel forced, and I lose interest in the couple over time. Tru and Jones happen to be one couple that never hits that point with me. Each new stumbling block their relationship encounters feels natural and just a part of the unexpected aspects of real life and love. Their characters and personalities were well developed over the past two books, so when the bombshell of San’s baby is dropped in the first chapter I immediately felt for them and their reactions felt authentic. I will say I didn’t love the way the adoption announcement happened, but it fit with San’s character from the first two books, so I didn’t dwell on it.

Once again, I’m floored by this author’s ability to describe everything about a scene. The way she weaves words together to convey the sights, sounds, textures while capturing the emotion for a character is magic for me. The pacing and narration never gets bogged down with these details, but rather they elevate the book and characters. The descriptions are so intense and sincere that it feels as though Danford’s pulling emotions from you and the reader understands precisely what the characters experience. I really loved how she developed Tru’s reaction to being a father and developing the bond with the baby. It was honest, at times heartbreaking, but made the scenes beautiful and memorable. The contrast between Tru’s and Jones’s reaction to unexpected fatherhood was perfect and reflected their personalities developed over the past two books. The challenge for them to come together and find their new normal was a perfect capping to their journey together. Tru and Jones have a romance to rival fairy tales in many ways and I have loved seeing them succeed in life and love.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

The Ember Peak series is the continuing story of Tru and Jones and the books work best when read in order. The end of Tru Burn had the men engaged and ready to move forward with their lives. It also had Sandy pregnant with the father permanently out of the picture. This book opens with Sandy leaving to get the medical help she needs, but also with her setting in motion life altering plans for Tru and Jones to adopt her baby.

Tru and Jones are an amazing couple. When they spend time together, Danford creates magic as they not only love each other, but truly like spending time together. What has made this series for me is they way they are in awe of each other in each and every interaction. This book took things in a completely different direction, a direction that wasn’t a favorite of mine, and had me wanting to move huge sections of the book along to get back to that magic that is Tru and Jones.

Sandy was never portrayed as an empathetic character to me. In the first two books she mostly came off as selfish, with perhaps the poor little rich girl syndrome, and Tru and Jones constantly catered to her. Here, she is given a mental health diagnosis and while she finally goes to get help, she had the foresight to set many things in motion without discussing it with anyone. Even though she isn’t on page much in the book, she is the core of where Tru and Jones currently are in their lives and their relationship and she came off as more manipulative. While I am aware of the intricacies related to mental health issues and Tru and Jones certainly were caught off guard and trying to make the best of their situation, Sandy’s character and the way everyone else seemed to enable her didn’t resonate well with me.

I was disappointed in this one. It's that fucking sister. She's just AHHHHHHHH! I get why she's such a pain now but it still didn't make up for the way she went about her decisions. Chapter 1 kicks off with a bang and it just put me in a bad mood. I don't really want to talk about it anymore because I loved this series until we got here.
This is probably a 5 star read for someone else, this is just a personal opinion. I didn't like the direction the story went and it made it hard to enjoy the book.
The writing is amazing and I love Tru and Jones but this book just made me feel sorry for them instead of rejoicing their love for each other.

I've been a fan of this series from the start and this third and final book in the series did not disappoint. Tru and Jones are such an interesting couple because of their differences. I really liked the pairing of an older, accomplished business man with a younger free spirit. They really work together.

In Tru Flame, Tru and Jones are taking in the sun and sand in Costa Rica, where Sandra has just had her baby. But she has a secret too and she makes a very tough decision that involves having Tru and Jones adopt her baby. Some readers may find this tough to believe, I really understood where Sandra was coming from.

It's all very disruptive to Tru and Jones. One is idealistic about their situation while the other is practical and that usually works, unless you are sleep and sex deprived, which they are! I liked the subtle (and not so subtle) tensions between them as they try to just get through each day, although I did want to smack Jones a few times!

What I liked in this book was what I liked in all three books of the series -- the dynamic between Tru and Jones is interesting and engaging for me.

Tru Flame was such a sweet conclusion to their story. It just left me feeling happy and that's why I read romance!

This is my honest review. An ARC was provided.

I cheered for this couple and their new family, from page one, and was left with a huge dreamy smile by the last page. My only complaint is that the series is over. I hope maybe someday we can revisit this couple—maybe with getting Gunnar’s HEA, or Sandra’s?? Pretty please??

Tru Flame is Book 3, and sadly, the final book in Edie Danford's Ember Peak series and must be read in the appropriate order. Don't skip around, or not read previous books, this whole series follows one couple and it absolutely must be read in order!

Tru and Jones relationship faces more challenges when Sandra decides to leave her newborn with them and tells them either they adopt the baby or the baby will be adopted by strangers. Tru goes from doting uncle in the baby's life at the discovery to someone who sees a new obligation he has to throw money at. And I've honestly always liked Tru and understood where he was coming from, but in this book I was seriously not liking him. It turns out Tru still has a lot of baggage to work through and becoming a father has sent him back to the jerk we originally met in Book 1. And though Jones loves the thought of being a father, he finds himself a single father having to rely on everyone on the ranch for help in taking care of the baby. Tru's checked out until he has no choice but to step up and take care of Sammy and I think that was the best thing that happened. Once Tru's made the decision to be the father, it was all that was needed to put Tru and Jones back in sync.

I think for many of us, Sandra's behavior is just so crazy to accept and she gave no thought to any one but herself. But, I kind of saw this coming. She knew her brother and Jones. She knew if she tried to talk to them about what she wanted that they wouldn't listen. They'd promise help and try to fix everything, but wouldn't listen to what she really wanted. She knew what her mental health needs were and made the necessary arrangements for the sake of the baby. Sure, she knew Jones and Tru would never allow her baby to be adopted by strangers, but she still felt that was a better option than her raising the child. She recognized where she was mentally, and what she was capable of. Did she handle it poorly, yes, but I felt that she was doing what was necessary for the baby's future.

Though I loved this story by the end of it, and I absolutely adored seeing Jones and Tru become fathers, I also questioned why Ms. Danford hated Tru and Jones so much! I mean, come on, you couldn't just let them have their HEA without throwing their world into chaos again? I know this is the final book in the series, but I really do hope that we get future Jones and Tru sightings!

Your brain will melt with all the warm sparkly love

This is a three-part story of desire, relationship and a family created by love. Each book can be read on it's own merit however, when read in sequence, there is magic. This author delivers just what my soul needs.
Sometimes love is simply a miracle. Perhaps it is always a miracle. Jones looking at Tru's newborn nephew sleeping on his chest, thinks about the power of love and of touch and physical connections and "how touch seems so basic - skin brushing against skin - and yet it's effects could be cosmically huge". Jones knows this for a fact as he knows the significance and magnificance of his skin on Tru's. For all their differences, Tru and Jones fit together. They are planning their wedding with all of the associated strain when Tru's sister Sandra disappears and leaves her three-day old son for Tru and Jones to raise. The amazing thing about successful international businessman Tru and the much younger Jones is that they complement each other so well that when things seem to be unraveling, it is terrifying.
When the wedding becomes one of necessity rather than the culmination of their togetherness and the committment they had already made, the meaning of their marriage is lost or forgotten for a bit.
This author is so deft as she shares the story as though she lived it, that you can hear, smell and taste the passion. "...taking his time ..to drink me down, enjoying my flavor as if I were a thick, rich milkshake. I liked the idea of being a milkshake so I laughed...trying to catch touches." A wonderful closing with the wedding night lantern "illuminating the silver flames dancing in his eyes".

Tru and Jones!!! Please tell me that it's not over!!!!! My love for these two character's is strong, and I am so sad that their journey is over. But the ride was so worth it!

Obviously, this is not a stand alone. This is the 3rd and final installment in this series revolving around Tru and Jones. And I have totally developed a big love for the whole May/December trope!

Not gonna give too much away, as I don't want to spoil anything for the fans of this series. But, suffice it to say our boys are thrown a curve ball and have to make some major adjustments to their grand plan. At times, you begin to wonder if they will be able to come out on the other side better or worse for the wear!

As always, Edie Danford has written a well crafted story with character's you can't help but love! Now that this series is over, I definitely can't wait to see what's next!

Tru and Jones + Sam forever!

Okay, so the beginning of this book made me mad. Sandra has issues, we've always known that, but to literally abandon your baby with your brother and best friend without much of an explanation at first... I was mad... But I couldn't say I was surprised. Her actions in the last book showed she needed help.

What I loved about this was it was about a same-sex couple who had to deal with the surprise of a baby. It was an original spin on 'oh, shit, we're pregnant'.

Yeah, Tru didn't want to be a parent, and Sandra should've known that, but that didn't stop Tru from loving Sam. He was standoffish for a while but the scenes where they started bonding melted my heart.

Tru and Jones are surrounded by amazing people (minus she who shall not be named again) and they have a great family network. And the steam level between these two when they are alone is off the charts.

Having said that, I'm in dire need to know more about gunner. I love how he protects jones and isn't afraid to stand up to his boss. Even if I get an inkling he has stronger feelings for jones than he lets on, he just wants him to be happy. *sigh* he is leading man material.

„Tru Flame” is a third and final installment in „Ember Peak” series by amazing Edie Danford.

Jones Hudson and Truitt Larkin are on their way to happily ever after. They’ve become lovers, partners and got engaged, but are they ready to be fathers? Tru’s sister didn’t gave them much of a choice and now they have to face huge change in their lives.

Oh my God! This book is so packed with emotions - first chapter already broke my heart. I love those guys so much! They’re one of my favorite couples! I’m gonna miss them so much!

Back to the book - the plot was super engaging, I could’t wait to find out how they’ll handle this situation. Again, believable story with lovely characters and beautifully written.
Highly recommended!

This book knocked me on my as* from the start. I was in no way expecting what hit as soon as the book started. Tru and Jones had their fair share of struggles in this book and my heart broke for them, but watching them slowly break down the barriers to happiness made my heart so full.

So, the book starts off with Sandra disappearing and then calling and letting the guys know that she is leaving and the baby now belongs to them. Imagine the stunned shock that shook Tru and Jones to the core. Jones was more on board and determined to make the most of it, while Tru struggled.

Tru never wanted children since his experience with parents were less than stellar. It caused a lot of contention between Jones and Tru. I was truly concerned for where their relationship was headed with how Tru was handling things.

In the end, everything is perfect and just the way it was meant to be. A happy ending for all. I absolutely loved going on this journey with Tru and Jones. I will definitely miss them.

No, no it can't end, I don't want this to be the last Tru and Jones book!!
Even though I could see it coming with Sandra I still hated how she did it, I understand why though. I do. At the end of the book it was handled great, she was were she needed to be mentally.
A few parts I enjoyed more than others and a few parts ticked me off, one part I liked was when Tru stood up himself and his family..finally!!
Both men had demons to overcome and I think they both did it their own way.
This book proved that family is more than blood and I loved how Tru truly had an eye opening realization of that with his "workers" with Sam.
"That we're married and happy. And I love you and you love me?"....Tru

DNF 70%

I feel like the author's choices ruined these two later books. First, Sandra is just insanely selfish and inconsiderate. The fact that Tru and Jones let her get away with it, is infuriating.

Second, this couple is seriously mismatched. All they do is talk over each other, and fuck. I did sympathize more with Tru - Jones was just so immature and oblivious at times. I just can't buy HEA for these two.

There is something so damn delicious and addicting about Jones and Tru. From the beginning of this series I adored these two characters together. All the many differences they had but when they were together it all just fit and made sense. In Tru Flame, the rightness of Tru and Jones as a couple was proven even more true as they were thrown a huge curveball that could have derailed their happily ever after.

In Book 3 of the Ember Peak series Tru and Jones are more settled than ever. Everything seems to be falling into place and they couldn’t be happier. On top of that they both welcomed the newest addition to their family, Tru’s sister Sandra’s new son with open arms.

Unfortunately Sandra mental health isn’t as stable as they thought and she decides to leave the baby in the care of Tru and Jones (which I will admit to hating her for.) I understand that she couldn’t take care of the baby but she should have talked with Tru and Jones about it before she took off. That’s my only real issue with the story.

Thrown into parenthood wasn’t something Tru ever imagined for himself or Jones so he has to grow accustoms to the new responsibility and that’s proving difficult.

Jones takes to fatherhood naturally but he’s angry and Tru for not adapting quick enough.

Both men love the baby but need to figure out how to work together as a family.

One thing that doesn’t change is how damn HOT Tru and Jones are for each other. Their sex is explosive and passionate every time. You can feel the love both these men have for the other with every touch or caress. When things get difficult they know they need to connect and they know exactly how to do it.

I’ve loved these stories so much and this author is amazing.

I definitely recommend this series.

...it's finished...

This series will make you laugh, cry, hope and plan for your own future. It will show your what is possible, how to compromise and set goals. And especially, how to put love above all else. A perfect ending for a wonderful trilogy.

A Long Time Coming

This concludes our tale of how Jones seduced Tru and how Tru kept fighting it until he realized what an idiot he was. This one has all the characters of the previous two novels in the series, with one exception: Baby Sam, and even though he is not fleshed out as a full personality, it is his presence which makes the narrative tick, and keeps Jones a solid person and eventually turns Tru into a man Jones deserves.

Nothing much happens here that you wouldn't expect--the love scenes are wonderful, the impulsive moves by Jones, Tru and his sister Sandra are just as contradictory and frustrating as ever. Sandra is still without redeeming value as far as I am concerned, and in many, many ways, Tru is not worthy of Jones. But that is a quibble on my part because I am still not in the least bit amused that each cover of the series features Tru and only him. Hey, editor: The star of the show is Jones, and you cheated him.
