A bonus novella in the #1 bestselling Three Rivers Ranch Romance series, featuring Tanner Wolf!
Tanner's in Three Rivers, a changed man, to compete in the rodeo. He's glad to be forgiven of the misdeeds he's done, and he looks to his friends in Three Rivers as examples. He's ridden hundreds of bulls over the years, but when he draws Lucky Number Thirteen, the personal stakes for winning go up. He's never made it to the eight-second bell on this bull.
And he doesn't this time either. In fact, he makes it to the hospital with career-ending injuries.
But not everything is lost, as his nurse, Summer Hamblin, seems to bring a balm to his weary soul--and meds for his broken ribs. When Summer is assigned as Tanner's home-health nurse, he wonders if they can take their relationship beyond the walls of the hospital. Has God brought him to Three Rivers to stay?

"Lucky Number Thirteen" is a very well written tale, though shorter than most of Ms. Isaacson's novels, and thoroughly enjoyable. To say the least, Three Rivers Ranch has went out with a bang and I am very sad to see this series come to an end. I have loved each and every novel with all having a five rating except for one which received a four.
In this story you find the mysterious, selfish, Tanner Wolf. In previous novels he obtained the title of heart-breaker and trouble-maker; however, in this story our male lead has found the Lord and is trying to turn his life around to the path that it needs to be on. After a major tragedy, Tanner meets the marvelous Summer and hopefully she is the one that can heal him in more ways than one.
I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!
I would just like to say that there is over 10 books in this series, and I am not normally a fan of series that run this long (unless they really hold your attention); however, Mrs. Isaacson grabs your attention with the multiple characters throughout the many novels and manages to keep them all tied together without having to repeat herself a multitude of times throughout each story. Wonderful job, if you enjoy one, you will enjoy all of them.
Short, sweet, and absolutely lovely. It's a beautiful reminder that no matter how dark the road you've been walking, with a few course corrections you can be back in the light again. Watching Tanner come to terms with the sudden changes in his life was sometimes heartbreaking but he handles it with such courage and grace, he's an inspiration. Summer, just like her name, is bright, and sunny, just a breath of fresh air. Bad things happen to good people. But sometimes those bad things put us in exactly the place we need to be for better things to happen. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Tanner has drawn Lucky #13 as the bull he needs to make it to the 8 second bell with at the small Rodeo in Three Rivers. His friends Ethan and Bryan are there supporting him since they live there now! Only things don't go as planned - after just a few seconds all he can think of is remembering to breathe and the pain! When he wakes up after his surgery the pain is really bad and he is still having trouble breathing but thankfully he can! That's when he meets his nurse Summer Hamblin, the most beautiful woman he's set eyes on. He is quick to recover as he goes above and beyond with his physical therapy, so he graduates to home health care pretty quick. Thankfully the nurse assigned to him is Summer! Only when she sees his living accommodations at Ethan's she informs him that they won't do since he is in the basement! He refuses to displace his friends from their master bedroom so Summer helps him find a first floor apartment. She even helps him with the shopping for everything he needs. They are getting to know each other really well, however, Summer doesn't do 2nd dates! Not since what happened to her ex and bestfriend. So what happens next with these two people? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Liz Isaacson! You wont be disappointed!
Lighthearted read about a cowboy and a nurse. Tanner has been injured and needs to accept the fact that his rodeo career is over. Summer has had her heart broken in the past and refuses to date. These two are drawn to each other and can feel a connection; however can they move past their fears and trust God with their future? I liked that Tanner wasn’t shy about expressing his feelings to Summer even though she didn’t respond the same initially, he was patient with her. My favourite scene was when Summer arrives at the restaurant in Colorado Springs. I enjoyed the interaction between Tanner and Summer, and it was great to catch up with some characters from past books.
I know this sounds totally weird, but I was spending a lazy day Saturday, every book I picked up just did not appeal to me so I checked into Facebook. Liz Isaacson had posted her new book "Lucky Number Thirteen", I downloaded the novella, started reading and the next thing you know I was finished. I was happy to be back in Three Rivers, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. The Lord can change anything and God with his love and mercy changed bad boy, ..Tanner into a child of God. He gave him the love of a beautiful godly woman. Thank you again for making my Saturday happy.
This was a sweet story of living your faith through the hardest time of your life. You see for Tanner a Multi-Champion Bull Rider this bull ride on Lucky Thirteen was a career changer. Being that he is a new follower of his faith it was quite a test. He had just asked God to show him what he should be doing with the next steps in his life. Because he had changed it a great deal. From the “all about me and partier” to his now walking with God. Which he was finding he really enjoyed a whole lot more. This ride was bringing him to Three Rivers, Texas. Where his friends Ethan a fellow rider who gave up the rodeo for his faith and Brynn a fellow cowgirl in the rodeo. She also retired. He would be staying with them while in town. When the ride takes a turn for the worse. His first thoughts go to God and then to Ethan because he had a better connection to his faith and God’s ear, and he knew by the way he was feeling after the bull used him as a floppy toy it was bad. Before it goes all black for him. He hears Ethan’s voice he knows it’s bad, but Ethan has his back. I just thought that was the sweetest and most real-life, gesture of a newbie, to their walk with God to believe that he needed help with a prayer for his friend had a better connection to God’s ear. At the hospital when he wakes there is a nurse, he sees but can’t talk to. Due to tubes, he is attached to. When finally, can talk he says she’s pretty something she never hears which truly touches her. For a cowboy, she finds him very polite and humble. They find they are trying to find time to see each other on accident of course. You see Summer is not a person who dates due to being cheated on by her last boyfriend. So, she is a “one date only” girl. She can’t chance being hurt and with him, she already knows she wants more than two dates. He asks to go to church when he gets out of the hospital. She says she sits with her folks he says he was there too then. On her other side. Very cute moments throughout. Moments of his old selfishness creep back in. You can understand why once it comes out but doesn’t help at the moment. They are both works in progress as we all are. This talk of faith, not any preaching or scripture quoting. You won’t fill forced to be Christian like some books just a good person you know human. I give this: 4 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at 1rad-readerreviews.com.
Tanner lost everything he thought he was when he was trampled by a bull (Lucky Number Thirteen) that he was trying to ride. Summer is the nurse that he first sees when he wakes up in the hospital. They have a connection right from the start and Summer agrees to be his home health for the next eight weeks. She has not been on a second date for a long time. Tanner is set to stay with Ethan and Brynn but when Summer gets there on the first day and finds out that Tanner is staying in the basement she says that he needs to find somewhere else that he won't be doing stairs so they go looking for an apartment for him. Tanner's faith in God in fairly new but he tries really hard to rely on what God as in store for him and why He allowed him to get hurt at this time and in Three Rivers. When he is released to travel he goes back home to see his mom and brother and decides to sell his house and move to Three Rivers. When his brother and kids are in an accident he thinks that God is telling him he needs to stay in Colorado. Will his faith be enough to keep him and Summer together or will he think that God has other plans for him? Will Summer have enough faith that they can make it work or will she walk away and go back to just her one date rule?
Another wonderful book from Liz Isaacson. This the last one in the series so far. I have read them all and liked them all. This one is about Tanner and Summer. I understand she is working on another one. Just loved these books and love her as a writer. I am surprised at little details that she knows about military service especially in a war zone that I think few know about and aspects of rodeo life that I think few know about which to me is surprising in a books like these. She also gets the despair down very well that disabled veterans and others who have had catastrophic accidents or injuries that change people's lives and how they deal with them. Her familiarity with some of the horse centered therapies that are helping all sorts of people with varying types of disabilities is surprising too.
As well as all her previous books this one could tie me up again. It's short, fast paced, well written with well-developed characters. You feel the chemistry between Summer and Tanner right from the start but the struggling is not far away. I recommend the book to anyone looking to curl up and lose themselves for a while. It's a wonderful story of love, self-doubt, faith and finally realizing what's important in life.
If You want a great story You must read definitely this one, so looking forward to the next book from this author. So go ahead and buy, you won’t be sorry.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This was an inspirational romance about a successful bull rider in the rodeo circuit who has been trying to turn his life around by focusing more on God. He visits Three Rivers for a rodeo and ends up injured and in the hospital. It makes me sad when someone's passion and life is turned upside down. While in the hospital he has a cute nurse and things start looking up. I enjoyed this book and their relationship. They are very sweet and caring towards each other. Things happen for a reason but you usually don't understand why right away. I give it 4.5 stars.
I am not a fan of novellas, but as usual, Ms Isaacson doesn’t disappoint. She packs the story with a great story and ends up with a home run. The centers around Tanner, an injured bull rider, and nurse Summer. A sweet story reminding us that things happen for a reason, and that when we learn to trust in ourselves and a supreme being, and open our hearts, we can experience life to it’s fullest and find love.
I gave this book a 5 - star rating because it was well written and the perfect ending to the Three Rivers Ranch Romance series. Tanner and Summer meet after Tanner is injured while riding a bull in a rodeo that ends his career. Their romance grows as Tanner ' s relationship with God leads in his plans for a future with Summer. I have thoroughly enjoyed all ten books in this series and look forward to starting the Gold Valley series.
Finding your way after your world has been torn apart is never easy as Tanner Wolf finds out in Lucky Number Thirteen part of Liz Isaacson’s A Three Rivers Ranch Romance series. Falling in love with your beautiful nurse named Summer Hamblin. Both broken in different ways help the other heal and realize that worlds change in unexpected ways. I highly recommend this book if you want a sweet short read and by a terrific author.
I recieved this GREAT book free and here is my honest review. Book is about a young cowboy that is a rodeo contestant. HE pulls lucky number 11. HE has risen this bull before but only for 3 seconds. HE wants to ride him for hopefully 8 seconds this time. but he finds himself thrown with serious injuries this time. HE wakes up in the hospital to see a young nurse by his side. will he ever be able to ride again is the question
I always enjoy the stories from Three Rivers Ranch. Scary how even the text guessing knows the words that come after three lol. Tanner and Summer have something special together. When they confide in each other it takes the guessing game and angst out of the equation. Most would not think that lucky thirteen could actually be lucky, especially after Tanners rodeo days crashed and burned ~
Tanner is in Three Rivers for a rodeo, but gets hurt and must retire from the rodeo. His nurse, Summer Hamblin refuses to go on second dates, but makes an exception for Tanner who has changed and has a growing faith. As he heals, he returns to check on his mother and finds his brother was in an accident. Summer can’t reach him so goes to find him. This book features a plot of trust and overcoming misconceptions.
Even a previous character shows a 180 turn around, and God blesses him with a new character with past challenges to work through as well. This was a sweet ending to a series surrounding Three Rivers Ranch located in the Texas Panhandle. I've laughed and cried with new and previous characters. Overall, this series has been enjoyable to read. I was able to read a copy of this book via Overdrive, but it did not in any way affect my review. All opinions are my own.
I loved this title. I have always had a love for the number 13 and any other superstitious thing people think is superstitious. It's not my favorite number but I love it all the same. I enjoy the reaction I get when I say it the terror on there face cracks me up. This little novella was fast obviously it's a novella but it was fun and completely enjoyable.
The mystery of people's faith and compassion in Three Rivers shines through this story of rodeo start Tanner, friend of Ethan and Brynn, devastating bull ride accident. When he meets nurse Summer, lifelong Three Rivers resident, and life spirals. Can Tanner and Summer figure out where god is leading.
This book is loosely tied to "8 second ride" in that Tanner was an important character in that book, but now he gets his own story. This book shows that difficult obstacles can be overcome even though the journey is on a rough road. I found this to be a enjoyable read with a few places that a tear might have fallen :) I recommend this to all.
When I first met Tanner Wolf, the only thing I wanted to do was slap him for the way he treated women. After his tragic rodeo accident, Tanner seems to change. His nurse Summer is a peaceful soul and seems to calm the inner man. My heart broke for Summer, but I understood Tanner's choices. This book is about sacrifices and what will you sacrifice for family and love.
I loved reading this novel. God had a purpose for Tanner and Summer both. He brought them together for a season. They both needed to heal.. This story shows you how a person like Tanner; who did bull ridding all his life and chance his prospect in life, with Gods help.
I was both surprised and thrilled that Tanner is getting his own novella! After finishing the Christmas novellas, I was stumped wondering who could possibly come next in the series. I absolutely loved this book about a cowboy and a caregiver.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
After a horrible accident that leaves Tanner without a future in his choosen career. When he wakes in the hospital he finds himself drawn to the nurse taking care of him. As they get to know each other they find love. Another accident threatens to tear them apart but they decide love is more important than pride.
This was a good, short, clean read. It about family, love and commitment, sometimes problems but persevering thru them and come out the better for it. The main characters, Summer and Tanner, are perfect for each other.
This series of love stories spans 10 books. Each character has his or her own story, and most of them overlap the characters. In a small town, where everyone knows everyone else, it must be that way. I have thoroughly enjoyed the series.
Lucky number 13. The bull that number wasn't so lucky four Tanner in the arena, but when he got to the hospital boy did that change. Summer never dated more than 1 date because anything moire ended in disaster. She was his nurse. Love at first sight.
Have waited till I read all of the books in this series. Great story lines with very realistic characters. Really enjoyed reading all of them and highly recommend each and every one of them.
