This was sweet, sexy and romantic, a nice read. Well, it was until the conflict anyway.
Grace is New York royalty, having grown up on Park Avenue she's determined to make it on her own; so determined, she's actually had to sell her favourite Renoir (the one her grandad gave her) to pay for the set up of her fine art gallery. Imagine the sacrifice! I liked her though, she loved what she did and that came across in the story and felt fairly fresh and original.
Sam, meanwhile, has just bought his first apartment. It's a plush place on Park Avenue. He's dragged himself up and is selfmade. Unfortunately, and rather too predictably for my liking, he has commitment issues and is something of a manwhore...
*sigh*
I cannot lie, the manwhore with commitment issues hero is getting really old for me now. I've read about him so many times, and sadly this story was really dragged down for me by it. His behaviour felt predictable and cliche, which was a real pity as the banter, the chemistry and the smut in this story had been so lively and intense.
Another pet peeve is when the previously feisty heroine rolls over and forgives the hero too easily. I was so disappointed to see Grace transform into a bit of a doormat at the end.
Complete story but part of a series featuring recurring characters. I much preferred The King of Wall Street to this one. Available on ku.
