Feminist Medya Teorisi ve Aktivizmi

Rate this book

I would like to tell you about this book and the media through the book, not directly through the book written by Danica Minić, but as a person working in the media sector...

As you know, the so-called "public opinion", general opinions and judgments are the argument used instead of "people" in order to gain a fair share of the whole, it is the language of every government. It is not known who the public opinion is, but the opinion of the public is said to be in this direction, and management decisions and administrative decisions are operated through this mentality. This situation has been applied since the world started using mass media. That is, since the media has existed...

The media has been given functionality as an instrument of manipulation about what the street should think, what it should want, or even what it should not want, rather than what the street wants, what it thinks. At this point, the "public opinion" that speaks on behalf of the people still exists to manipulate the people. Turkey has a specialized media network on the easy manipulability of people deprived of information (correct information). As someone who comes from within this sector, I can easily say that I can see how the endless news feeds that are disguised, changed, biased are absorbing the society and I have witnessed it every time. From this point on, if I connect it to the content of the book, thanks to the mass media that enter homes with the simulation of public Opinion, societies are made easily manageable and the requirements of the dominant system are instilled in society. This is especially manifested in patriarchal societies in languages and discourses that actually marginalize women, deny their independent existence, and make them dependent on men, and society is kept in the orbit of this patriarchal point of view.

The simulacrum of "boyhood", which is operated as a male culture, is actually nothing more than the illusion that the patriarchal mentality degrades society. According to him, a man is more a boy than a person. While the majority of the society is absorbed in this direction, a qualified segment, albeit a small number in quantity, also uses the "public opinion" correctly and uses the function of the media as making its voice heard, revealing the wishes, thoughts and demands of the public. At this point, feminist media activism also puts forward more human, more moral and more honest criticisms by commenting on the masculine discourses that the mainstream media embraces with four arms.

Feminist media theory does not break away from feminist philosophy and acts according to the philosophy of reproduction, and the struggle to restore the identity of society by reproducing what has been manipulated in the sense of showing people the truth returns to society as "awareness", "awakening". This short book is one of the rare works that consists of an accumulation of criticism ranging from politics, thought, violence against women, nature, animals and even pornography and brings feminist media theory to our front in general terms.
