Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Aubrey Irons enjoys writing about bold, sassy, and intelligent women and the hot, cocky, and quite typically forbidden bad boys who love and lust for them. Gripping stories, guaranteed happy ever afters, and LOTS of heat.
In the real world, Aubrey is kept plenty entertained by her own favorite bad boy husband, their two adorable kiddos, and the world's most ill-behaved puppy.

Sinner tells the story of Evangeline, the daughter of an extremist preacher, as she falls in love with Rowan, the "bad boy" who owns a dive bar.
Look, I don't think anybody who looks at this book is going to be expecting War and Peace here, and you pretty much get what's advertised. I'm not going to lie, both characters are pretty stereotypical, but Rowan is generally more likeable than I expected. He's mostly not an asshole and repeatedly goes after Eva, even when she pushes him away.
That being said, I was not happy with Rowan's reaction to Eva being dragged away screaming by her father. Eva's father is clearly deranged, waving a gun, and is going to force his daughter into a marriage she DOESN'T WANT...and yet when Rowan thinks he missed the plane she was on, his reaction is basically "oh well". Even when another character suggests driving to Georgia, he literally says "I'm good". That seemed VERY out of character based on the rest of the novel, IMO.
Safety Stats:
Ages:Eva is 21 and a virgin, Rowan is 31.
Cheating: None.
OM/OW:At one point, Rowan's ex-fuck buddy takes her shirt off in an effort to seduce him. Rowan is not interested and tells her to leave. Eva unwillingly goes out to dinner with a man her father wants her to marry.
Separation:None.
Triggers: None, but I'd argue that Eva's father is emotionally and verbally abusive, so something to be aware of if that's a trigger for you.
HEA? Married and pregnant in epilogue.

This is my first book by Aubrey Irons and I really liked it. I enjoyed her writing style, it flowed perfectly.
Eva comes a super religious family who believe everything is a sin and you should never defy your father. Her family is moving to a new place to help with the construction on a new religious center. That's where she meets Rowan the preachers son who is perfectly sinful.
Rowan's family is very lenient when it comes to religion and Eva begins to realize she doesn't want what her father says has to be her life.
Eva and Rowan come to a understanding where he helps her out with some of her fears and insecurities, that's when the fun begins, lol.
They are both drawn to each other but, also know there's not much a future that can happen.
The banter between them was funny. I loved Rowan's sense of humor. This book had the perfect balance of drama, heat & humor.
Let me start off by saying that a) this is the first novel I have read by this author and b) I am very selective about what I pick to read.
When I scroll through the Kindle bookstore I first read descriptions of books that catch my eye. If the description entices me enough I move on to positive reviews. I read maybe two then work my way to negative ones. Negative reviews usually tell one more about a story than positive reviews. At least I think they do. I was surprised that there were very few for this book. Well once I dove in I found out why. This is a 5 star romance novel. Beautifully written, easy flow, relatable characters. I'll say I was apprehensive at first about the main female character being a virgin because it is so played out. How many 20-something virgins are there, that are only virgins "just 'cause" then some billionaire stalker comes and takes her away? Yawn. This book was a breath of fresh air. Although the main male character is a bad boy who owns his own business, he's not pouring in money with some haunted past because of some terrible family who destroyed him. In the very beginning I didn't think I would like either character, but I found myself falling in love with both. Warning if you don't like swearing, steaming sex scense or *Spolier alert* steamy sex scenes in a church, this book is not for you. This novel is funny, witty, hopeful, sexy and romantic. I couldn't put it down. Edit Delete
Temptation always comes in the guise of a sexy and cocky cover ;-)
If you are like me, you like your novels with a touch of naughty. This one is even a little forbidden as it pairs a Preacher's untouched daughter and the problematic owner of a bar. Add some teasing, lots of enticing chemistry and restrictive father, and sin is served!
I liked the taunting and naughty comments on the wicked nature of their steamy break of the rules or morality. The author paints both sides of a religious family, one that is compassionate and the other one that is obsessed.
On the other hand, the dialogues and situations sometimes feel a bit cyclic and become repetitive. However, it was fun to see Evangeline ruffled by Rowan's crude persona and breaking her father's strict upbringing.
It's not all desire and big Os in a taboo couple's life, though. Rowan's problems collide with his illicit relationship, and hell breaks loose on both of them. There's plenty of sinfully hot scenes (the confessional booth encounter is worth reading a few times), and two opposites who fall into temptation and find love. The HEA is worth reaching to.
"This is wrong. This is sin. And you know what? Send me to hell, cause I just want more." - Rowan
Oooooh readers this novel is leading me straight to hell with the "Sinner". The first thing I must say is this is a pleasurable delightfully extremely hot read about the " black sheep" wayward, hard drinking and hard loving beautifully muscled and tatooted badboy preacher's son, Rowan. This delicious man is a dive bar owner and bartender for his bar. The "angel" that comes into his life is daughter to another preacher of hard line zeal and ideas about how children of preachers should conduct themselves. He also dictates who Evangeline should blindly accept as her intended in obedience to her father. Except Evangeline (Eva), the "angel", come to Shelter Harbor, is not exactly all that obedient or is she? She begins by asking Rowan to teach her about sex and lovemaking for her future bethroed. You know the words to the song, "The only one who could ever reach [teach] me, was the son of a preacherman." Teach and reach her he did. Of course being the truly good person that she is, Eva doesn't fall instantly for the rakish charm of Rowan. Watching them fall for each other and love grow between them; as the characters blossom into different versions of themselves is exciting, touching and beautiful. The erotsism is " off the charts" hottttt!!! The author writes some intense drama toward the end of the story that has the reader turning pages at a clip. The descriptive language of the author is accomplished and beautiful. This is an exciting well-written dramatic sexy romance. In the words of Evangelinre, "He’s sweet, sweet, sinful temptation. And I’m falling." You as a reader will be falling happily with this sweet temptation of a read. Sin never felt so good. "Sweet, agonizingly beautiful damnation." - Eva
I was happy to accept an ARC for this story. I loved the story so much I bought a finished copy for my personal library. This review is entirely based on the absolute enjoyment I experienced reading the book.
This was an extremely enjoyable story, that quickly hooked me in and kept me engaged and entertained throughout. I especially love all the Hammond Siblings, as they are such a fun and crazy bunch. So I was excited to dive into this story and honestly it didn't disappoint.
I thought the main characters Rowan and Evangeline worked really well together, even if they are pretty much opposites in everyway. Their introduction to each other was truly brilliant, they shared plenty of chemistry and some hot moments. The story itself also had moments of humour, mainly thanks to the Hammond siblings and Rowans Brother in Law Silas. As well as a little crazy in the form of Evangeline's dad who as the story develops seem to become more and more unhinged. Which left me questioning how Rowan's dad was ever friends with him in the first place. But through it all I was desperately rooting for Rowan and Evangeline to get that elusive happy ending and I would definitely recommend this book to others and even though this is the second book in the Shelter Harbour Series. It can easily be read as a standalone.

I absolutely love Aubrey Irons books. In the latest Shelter Harbor book, you get a glimpse into Rowan Hammonds life. He is the ultimate bad boy and only has one use for women. That is until Eva comes into his life. She is nothing like any other woman Rowan had been with. Even though Eva is promised to another man, Rowan just can't stay away from her. She is his angel and nobody else can have what is his.
This series is awesome., and it gets better with each book. While this book is part of a series, you don't have read Thief to know what is going on in this book. If you haven't read a book by Aubrey Irons, then you are missing out. I highly recommend this book to those looking for a new author.
Sinner is a sweet romance about a bad boy preacher's son and a good girl preacher's daughter, who wants to get from under her fire and brimstone father's thumb. This is a quick read, definitely not 800 some pages as the description suggests. It had an entertaining albeit predictable storyline with a "flash" everything gets resolved quickly type ending. The characters were nice, nothing that really stood out as different or unique, just a sweet story of 2 people finding love with a little drama thrown in. There is no angst, except for the crazy preacher man. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
4.5 stars! I usually pick up books like this for a little fun and entertainment and I was not in any way disappointed. I had no idea Sinner was going to ring so true for me. 25 years ago this little Georgia church girl finally broke free of her parents ultra conservative "cult" and never looked back. (You can't imagine the drama that ensued.) I love stories with girl power and I was ready for Evangeline to realize she could fight for what she wanted. And yes, many Georgia dads have a gun collection and are domineering, egotistical, and overprotective of daughters. Note to fathers, this just makes the bad boys even more appealing.
This was a great sexy read. It had me hooked from the beginning. Good girl gine bad. Gotta love it. This was my first Aubrey Irons book, but it won't be my last.
Aubrey Irons delivers another winner with Sinner! This is the second standalone in her Shelter Harbor series, focusing on Rowan Hammond, who is Ivy's brother and Silas' best friend from Thief.
Rowan is the son of a reverend, but his family is on the liberal side -- heck, the guy owns the dive bar in town! Evangeline (Eva) and her family come to visit from Georgia so her bible-thumping, ultra-conservative evangelical preacher father can help his old friend, Rev. Hammond, build a community center. Rowan, who is a bit of a manwhore, and Eva, whom he thinks looks like an angel from the first second he sees her, are immediately drawn to each other, and begin spending more and more time together as he "teaches" her about.... let's say, certain things. Even though Rowan knows he's bad and damaged and would taint Eva's pure innocence, he can't stay away. And even though her father has "God's plan" outlined for Eva, she can't stay away from Rowan, either.
Not only does Irons once again craft an enjoyable romance from start to finish with fleshed-out characters, but her supporting characters are solid and fleshed-out as well, without overshadowing the H/h. And I loved the message by the end about following your heart and desires... even from the one supporting character I never expected it from!
I look forward to reading about the rest of the Hammond sibilings -- I've been waiting for Kyle to get his own story since Player!!
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Sinner by Aubrey Irons is hands down a great read. Bad boy next door, but with a twist. She's a good Christian daughter and has tried to do everything her parents want her to do, but it's beginning to be too much. How much can one person really do without being true to themselves?
I enjoyed the relationship between Eva and Rowan. Parts had me laughing so hard, while others just couldn't bare looking at the pages as I was blushing like crazy. This story flows well and has a great plot to go with. It was very well written.
I really enjoyed this story. Rowan, a small town bar owner, is immediately fascinated by the innocent Evangeline, who has come to town with her parents for some missionary work. Rowan enjoys showing his "angel" how fun it can be to sin and to get out from under her father's rules. I loved the writing style and the characters. I will definitely read more by this author. * I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. *
The story was typical in the sense of a good virginal church going girl and a bad corrupt or misunderstood guy. On that note the storyline was pretty descent. My issue is that the author eluded the crazy bible thumping screaming psycho preacher to Seventh Day Adventists. Being a Seventh Day Adventist, I can safely say that is not true or accurate behavior. In stories like these the author should stick to generalized references.

Great storyline and characters. We met Rowan in "Thief" so we know some of his story from that book. This book did take me a little while to get in to, but i'm glad i stuck with it. Good twists and heat. After a slow start, its a good book and i would recommend.
This was such an Awesomely written book. I liked the religious aspect of it. How faith is blindly learned and taught. Both characters were so well-written and each at an opposite side of religion. Eva was raised with fire and brimstone where Rowan was raised with strong beliefs but in a more relaxed and modern way. This was truly an amazing story.
I had a feeling Rowan's story would be a little rougher than this, but I wasn't all together put out with what I got. And Silas to the rescue again...kinda.
Eva was a pretty standard heroine and of course Rowan is just Rowan. I really am enjoying this series, truth be told.
Really like this book. Great suspense and angst. Loved the characters the main characters were both strong and likable. The secondary characters added to the story. Sexy and smart writing kept the plot moving with a satisfying ending.
I don't know how i didn't discovered this book before, but i'm amazed!!! Aubrey Irons became my favorite author,i mean her books are great! I can't describe with words, how much i liked this characters, and the book is so hot :D You must read it, immediately!!!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This is another great book from Ms Irons. Its Rowen's story the son of Jacob Hammond and brother of Ivy from Thief. Rowen meets Eva the daughter of a preacher from the south who runs his church and family with an iron fist. he believes in a woman knowing her pace in a marriage and that the father says who his daughter will marry. Eva may have been brought up that way but she in no way believes in that. She has a strong attraction to Rowen and will do anything to get away from her arranged marrige her father is determined that she should do. This story was full of smoken hot scenes and even some drama in the way Eva's father tried to take her away from Rowen and how he went about doing it. Ms Irons has written another great story!
A minister's son and a preacher's daughter that are as different as night and day find the person they didn't know they were missing in Sinner. Rowan is a far from your idea of a minister's son as you can get; tattoos, owns a bar, enjoys the ladies and a dirty mouth are what Evangeline finds when she shows up at his bar to get the keys for the rental property her family will be staying at while in town helping out his father. Angel is what Rowan thinks when he wakes, hungover, to find Evangeline in his office. Total opposites, but neither can resist the temptation the other represents when Eva asks Rowan to teach her about being with a man, since her father has set up a suitable man for her to marry. The fathers, although friends from seminary school, couldn't be more different either; Mr. Hammond, Rowan's father, is happy, loves his family and in his way embraces his children's' differences. While Preacher Ellis rules with an iron fist; his word is the end all and his daughter and wife are a reflection of that thinking. Rowan and Eva will follow their hearts regardless of what may happen and when all is reveled will they be strong enough to come out of it together, regardless of the consequences? I loved Sinner from Aubrey Irons! Rowan and Eva are so different, yet perfect for the other. i voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was full of heat, conflict and humour.
This is written from both POV's, which worked well, as both main characters grew during the story. I didn't feel that decisions were 'out of character' because we had seen the thoughts and feelings that led to them being made.
The story had good pace, was written in a very easy to read style and had some amazing characters. Not all were nice but they were all interesting and rounded. The dialogue was natural and the two main characters were not only likable but also believable.
My only issue was Eva saying 'oh my God' as often as she did. A girl raised in such a religious household wouldn't say it. Unless this was the author showing us the fire and independence hidden inside Eva. My apologies to the author if this is the case, but I'm not great at analysing literature.
Overall this was a fun and engaging read. I cared about Rowan (swoon) and Eva, got frustrated, at times, by Eva (but her decisions reflected her upbringing) and really wanted them to be happy.
First of all, let me give some kudos to the book’s cover model, who is working it. Seriously, he’s doing his thing and it’s all good. I won’t admit to downloading the book because of him, because that would be admitting that I’m a shallow book whore who totally judges books by their covers. (But just between you and me...I’m a shallow book whore who totally judges books by their covers. *Winks*)
I wish I could say that the book lives up to the bar set by the hot dude on the cover, but…
It’s not that this book wasn’t well-written, because it was. There was a nice flow to the dialogue and the pacing was good. I didn’t hate either of the main characters, which is always good. I also liked that the book put the wonderful Dusty Springfield version of “Son of a Preacher Man” in my head for a day or so while I was reading.
Here’s the stuff that bugged me and dragged down the book’s rating (and totally let down the hot cover dude, in my opinion):
1. I’m going to take a stab at summing up the entire plot in one sentence. Here it goes: “Oh, no, I can’t have sex with you, Mr. Hot Bartender, because I’m a good Christian girl and a virgin so...oh, what the hell, let’s do it, shall we?” Yep. That’s pretty much it. Push from the hero (come on, you know you want to have sex with me), pull from the heroine (no, no, I couldn’t possibly have sex with you), more push from the hero (come on, it’ll be great), followed by heroine totally caving and having sex with the hero. It’s exhausting to read. And tedious, frankly.
2. The whole loan shark subplot was pointless. It added absolutely nothing to the story as a whole. The heroine’s father and his little flunky, Chastity, were one-dimensional. Their personalities never rose above the level of stereotypical zealot. It seemed their only purpose in the story was to impede the relationship between the hero and heroine.
3. The sex scenes themselves were fairly hot, but...they had sex in a church confessional, y’all. Now, I’m not an overly religious person, but even I cringed at that one.
4. With a story set in modern times, I find it ridiculous—RIDICULOUS, I say—that the whole “arranged marriage” discussion even happened, let alone that the heroine ever considered, even for a split second, that she had no choice in the matter. Ugh. Total crap.
5. The ending was super abrupt, almost like the author herself was sick of the push/pull between the characters and was just ready to end it all.
All in all, for me, this one was a whole plateful of “meh” with a side of “blah.”
