Hard to get excited about a workbook, but a nice set of activities designed to work through learning the Latin roots of words that are still commonly used today.

To put it bluntly, I hated this book. I went through it once last year, and then reviewed the vocabulary words again this year. Both times, I felt like I got nothing out of it. The point of this book is to teach Latin and Greek roots, and to have you learn vocabulary words that come from these roots. Then they give a few fill-in-the-blank style exercises at the end of each chapter to make sure you've learned it well. Well, I couldn't remember any of the roots, and only the vocabulary words that I knew before I started the book. They didn't explain very well at all how to use the book, and they expect the user to memorize these blank arbitrary words in a foreign language which have absolutely no meaning to the person. Yeah. Plus, the review exercises are so short that they don't reinforce anything at all. It was after my terrible experience with this book that I decided to go out and learn the whole Latin language (and eventually the whole Greek language), and after learning that, I will be able to figure out on my own the English words that came from them. Much better.
