Anesthesiologist resident, Veda Vandyke, returned home to achieve one goal: get in, exact revenge, get out.

But the universe had different plans.

Pregnant with her worst enemy’s baby. A dead man’s blood on her hands. A brooding police detective hot on her trail.

The problems just keep piling up, faster than Veda can handle. Desperate for escape, she’s forced to fast track her quest for vengeance, determined to destroy the last of her enemies before she starts to show.

At the top of her list? Gage Blackwater: her ex-fiancé, her boss, and the father of her secret baby. As far as Veda’s concerned, Gage will never learn about the child he’d helped create. As soon as she finishes stealing from him what he’s stolen from her, she’ll be out of Shadow Rock on the first train moving.

And she’ll never look back.

Gage, however, has different plans. Devastated by the untimely end of their engagement and fed up with seeing her face roaming the halls of his hospital, Gage wants Veda gone, and he wants her gone now. Even if it means micromanaging her to within an inch of her life, firing all her friends, and cutting her hours to the bone so she can’t afford food and shelter.

Anything to get rid of Veda Gabriella Vandyke.

Anything to get her out of his hospital—and out of his life—forever.

I'm fascinated by deeply flawed people in impossible situations, and insane people who don't know they're insane. Perfection puzzles me, so my characters are always just a little bit evil--whether they know it or not!

Book 4 opens with an Lucy and Ethel moment straight out of the 'I Love Lucy' Show.

The real life duo of Veda and Hope are dressed head to toe in black scoping out the neighborhood in order to break into the dead guy's house looking for any incriminating evidence that could sink Veda and her ongoing mission to punish the 10 animals that raped her. In Book 4, Hope makes several straight, no chaser tirades that serve as an effort for Veda to wake the f*ck up! Hope's 'booty call' speech is priceless. Not to mention the appearance of Grandma Pearl Vandyke.

Gage is still reeling from his break-up with Veda and has been reinstated once again as the CEO of Shadow Rock Hospital. Which means he went crawling back to his parents instead of trying to stand on his own two feet which had been his goal in Book 3. The new Gage is unlikable and is on a budget cut rampage which in truth is motivated by his newfound hatred of Veda whom he wants to get rid of permanently! He puts scorned women to shame.

For those of you that might want to know if anything happens in this book with Lincoln and Veda. Well ... you will and won't be disappointed at the same time. There is a moment (they both felt it, I felt it too) and boy what a moment it was -- you'll know what I'm talking about when you get to that part in the book. As for Lincoln's investigation he now knows will pay the price. Damn.

Note to Veda: Veda, Veda, Veda -- what are you doing, girl? You're better than this, right? You're better than a quivering bundle of nerve endings in your southerly nether region! You cannot be controlled by any number of fingers, nor juicy lips or the licks of a long wet wavering tongue or a big, long thick torpedoing pole. And, if you never, ever have sex with anybody ever again (okay, slight exaggeration, I'm fine with you getting it on with Lincoln, boo). Guess what, girl? I won't be mad at you because frankly your voracious sexual appetite and (nightly multi-orgasmic) escapades have exhausted me (and you should be tired, too). Now I need a cigarette ... scratch that, I need for you to sit your on your feet all day, 16-hour workday butt down somewhere, and since when have you taken up yoga without telling me? Because some of those positions sound both strenuous and painful. Please Veda, have a seat because your stamina is making it bad for the rest of us who live in the real world!

Final Note to Veda: Please STOP making new friends, you don't need them, stick to ones you've already reluctantly accumulated and now completely trust. Listen to me, you'll thank me.

In the meantime ... will the (real) Veda Vandyke we met in Book 1, please stand up? I beg of you, please go back to slicing and dicing. No! I take that back, please change your Modus Operandi because Lincoln is a memory away from being on to you!! I miss you and I want the old you back and I want you to remain single -- because men seem to easily distract you from the mission. Ends on the ... Best. Cliffhanger. Yet.

4 down, 6 to go.

Book 5 drops February 2017.

That was so good I cried. You guys need to read this book, it's definitely the best of the 4. Even if this one is more about romance/relationship than revenge, it's so well written that you can't dislike it. I can't wait for the next book.

SHONDA RHYMES SHOULD MAKE A TV SHOW FROM THIS BOOK

Trevion you have a great series going here but Veda is starting to get on my nerves. With the back and forth with one minute she feels bad and the next it's about vengeance like make up your mind Veda.

You keep confusing is with Linc and Gage I will say your keeping us on our toes.

I want more of Linc. What happened to his wife? The kids?

Whose number 10? I think it's the father!

How are you going to drag this out for 6 more books?

I think the mother got her. Who else could it be?

I'm still rooting for you to turn it all around.

All in all it was not a bad book. I like it. Kept me entertained. Kept me guessing because I want to badly know who number 10 is?

Happy Reading.

This is the best book in this series so far and I do not say that lightly-OMG! Chills are running up my arm and down my spine YEARN left me SHOOK! When is Revenge 5 coming? I need it! I have so many thoughts about who grabbed Veda, why Gage is trying to be hardcore. Why I love Linc and grandma Pearl the way I do- well done! Well done! I strongly recommend giving this series a shot-it starts with uncomfortable material but the need for revenge yet finding the more you hate and try to right wrongs that it only comes back on you is getting stronger and stronger! Great book and a great series!

Father God!!!!

Whyyyyyyy??? Why must we constantly have to have such a beautiful love story end so tragically. Why was Gage so quick to sleep with this other woman if he loved Veda so much? I know that Veda hurt him, but dang. Why didn't he attempt to see if Veda was okay after she left such a message. Duh!!!! Find a clue Gage. I don't want to feel disappointed with this love story twist. I don't want Veda to end up with Linc. I want Linc and Gage to figure out who took Veda. Omg these cliffhangers are killing me softly. Father God the suspense

Characters

Loved the story...
So many OMG moments. The only character I really didn't like was Hope. I mean she was right in the end but when Veda was a little confused she was really being a butt hole. She gave some good advice at certain points but she could've said it a different way. I can't wait for the next book...I think I know what's gonna happen it's gonna be awesome

No! No! No!

Ms. Burns..Veda has been through so much please don't take this away! I'm in slight depression.. can't stand these type of cliff hangers. On pins and needles till next book. I have so many scenarios rolling through my mind. What's going on really with Our girl and Linc? Will he catch his guy and earn his promotion. We need longer books..really! :/

Can this series get anymore intense!? I feel like I'm left reeling with anticipation and a touch of anxiety after every book. I am rooting for Veda and just like her, despite her (long past) broken rule of making no friends, just adore the ones she's made. Like Coco, Jake, and even Hope. Even though it puts her goal of revenge more at risk, they remain as little bright spots in her life despite the darkness. And Gage was on the warpath! I love em together, but with Veda's secrets and revenge they might just be better off apart no matter how much it hurts. Veda is coping the best way she knows how and compartmentalizing it all is helping her scrape by. And good golly how many hilarious euphemisms can you use for cutting off someone's testicles! I loved everything about this book, and it is probably my favorite in the series. But Veda still has six more to go and Detective Link is closing in.

As much as I'm enjoying this series, it's also frustrating as hell. When did this turn into the Scooby Gang?? I had the impression that Veda's main goal was to get revenge on the 10 men that raped her. That's the only reason why she returned to Shadow Brook. Now I can understand getting a little side-tracked by some good d*ck but COME ON! Now Hope and Jake are in on it too?!?! And who the eff is Hope that Veda has 100% trust in her even though they haven't seen each other in 10 years?? Why does this seem like it's nothing but a game. I would appreciate this more if Veda was written like how the blurb portrays her - a woman on a mission to exact revenge at all costs. Works at the hospital during the day. Exacts revenge at night with ZERO regrets. This Veda is to wishy-washy. I'd rather that she just stop altogether because the sh*t is sloppy.

Veda is described as having a Type A personality so she's going after her rapists in alphabetical order. Ummm....why isn't anyone realizing that the police department is going to notice the same damn pattern?!?!?! Like come on!!!!! And what is this darkness Veda keeps talking about? Ain't nothing dark about her. If there was true darkness, she would have killed Todd instead of castrating him and this would have been a 3 book series. She's not dark. She's seriously effed up and needs counseling and has emotional issues. That does not equal darkness.

Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.

When I read Captive one of my complaints was the author's use of the word "orbs" all the damn time when describing a character's eyes. I have pin-pointed when the excess use started. In book 4. And now she's orbing all over the place.

A lot of repetitiveness is dragging down the plot. My overall frustration with Veda and the Scooby Gang. But I'm hooked and I want to see how this all plays out. But this truly could have been a 3 book series if Veda was really about her business of revenge.

I have no words for Gage. He annoyed me. Pissed me off. He's kind of a punk at times. I don't know. Linc is the better male character.

Yearning for the pace to triple

I choose quality to quantity. It feels like the author is choosing money over substance. There are so many ways to compose a satisfying series other than repetitive dialogues and undermining the authenticity of your characters. Why wouldn't Veda listen to her intuition and ensure the body is gone when there is so much to gain rather than secure a costly regret of failing to ensure your freedom and life of your unborn child? Why would Hope and Veda sit in a public place going through Jax's cameras? With so much on the line, why would Veda take weeks to express her undying love to a man who bathed her in his love before she broke his heart? Why kill as soon as the pharmacy re-opened? You know that your family is vindictive and dangerous. Why not check on the safety of the woman who may be carrying your child? If Linc is so detailed oriented, why doesn't he remember Veda as the girl whose life he saved? An event that changed his career path.

Looking for fluff, why not show us who Hope is? Why not show us more about Coco? Did Dante know what Todd was doing to their sister? What kind of parents does she have that no one notices her need to cover her arms no matter the weather? No notices of her blazing insecurities and desperation to please?

This series just keeps getting better

I wonder who it is that's got Veda? Could it be Daddy Blackwater? Gage has gone mad at the world with his heartbroken self, kinda feel bad for him. I said kinda, cause I've been saying all along he needs to grow a set of brass balls and go all alpha on her to get into Veda's head maybe even gotten her to open up about her past. Hopefully we don't have to wait long.

This was a good installment. I'm not sure who I like and don't like in this book anymore. There's so much going on, and I'm now I'm already starting to come up with ways for Veda to get out of being convicted for these crimes and who the scapegoat will be. On to the next installment.

Where to start with this one. It didn't frustrate me nearly as much as Purr. The events in this didn't focus so intently on Veda focusing on getting her Number 4, but showed the crumbling of her plan thanks to unforeseeable roadblocks, and her emotional war with herself and Gage.

After the events in Purr, with Veda and Gage's break up, in Yearn I found myself wanting them to reconcile but also at the same time go their separate ways. A lot of damage has been done with Veda being unable to open up fully to Gage because of her thirst for revenge. I felt for him because he wants someone who can reciprocate, be honest and open. It's messy all around because murder has just been added to Veda's ledger, even if she didn't directly do the deed herself, she's an accessory, what kind of a relationship could they possibly have when she's living this double life? Add a baby to the mix and things have gone up a thousand. Her life was seemingly falling apart, Gage was going on the rampage with his broken-hearted self making life for the employees at the hospital unbearable, coming after Veda and her friends hard. Just drama, drama, drama that really made me want to give Gage these hands.

This book raised a few ethical questions and discord. If its possible for someone to change, to become a better person after raping someone, and can Veda deal with collateral damage in how her extracting revenge could cause a domino effect in the lives of the women connected to her attackers, one of which she befriended, mostly to grease her for info on her Number 4, who was desperately trying to have a child with. It was a paradox that had Veda once again waffling on should she press on regardless of who would be affected, or stop altogether.

Hope and Jake, Veda's friends/accomplices they didn't care, they just wanted Veda to 'git her done', damn who it hurt. Veda could get her revenge but she'd also be robbing a woman of the chance to have a child, though the father proved to be the lowest of the low. Personally I felt Veda should take a break, stop because she's pregnant, and its high-risk. What's worth more to her? Slicing balls or staying as healthy as possible for her child? Plus, if she moved too quickly she would make mistakes, get sloppy, and she'd be caught before getting to her number 5, 6 etc. To me, the risk wasn't worth it. But of course plot conveniences were added that made reaching her goal more difficult.

I still love her friendship/flirt-mance with Linc. Veda is more at ease, more herself with him, but that's a slippery slope since Linc is very close to nailing Veda, kind of a Catch-22 in wanting them to take that step from platonic to something more. So I enjoy their moments for what they are, and resign myself that its best things not get any deeper. *pouts*

Gage now knows he's going to be a father. FINALLY! Lord, I just wanted to pop the both of them upside the head to talk to one another like adults, stop the booty calls, lay their cards out on the table, all of them, Veda more so than Gage, and it finally happened, and now...

Veda is, her status is...we don't know. That cliffhanger....urghhh. I don't know if I'm ready for Book 5 but I'm ready.

People are crazy, this ish is getting good. The plot is thickening, the story weaving, the characters growing. The couple is actually going through real couple things and scenes. It's not just butterflies, sunshine and orgasms like most IR books. It's real and messy. I dig it. I am feeling torn about the triangle. I like V and L together, but I do like the idea of someone just being friends and not hopping in the sack. Idk, we shall see. I cannot wait for the next books.

These covers are so good!!
