Merriview, Texas isn’t the place many men would come to find a wife, but Shep knows that he can get some good advice from his old friends there, so he agrees to make a delivery that’s sure to raise some eyebrows. The first girl he meets has him thinking of staying much longer than he had planned and the Sloan brothers and their wives are elated to hear it. Though Shep falls for the lovely Treli, he almost gives up on winning her when fate, and the feisty Pinkie Sloan step in.
What’s a cowboy’s solution when his questions go unanswered and his orders get disobeyed? The only choice to be made is whether to use a paddle or a wooden spoon. What better way to try to get a handle on the madcap mayhem that ensues than a good old-fashioned trip over his knee? Whenever the Sloans get involved, three things are for laughter, love, and long spankings.
This book can stand alone, but readers who enjoyed A Rancher’s Skittle-pip will be glad to see old friends from Bumchuck up to their old antics. Publishers This book contains scenes depicting adult women being spanked. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.
This is book two of A Rancher’s Bride series and will read as a standalone. It is 1866, fourteen years since we met the Sloan brothers, Vince and Slingo, and their adventure with the circus and meeting their wives, Pinkie and Drina. They each have a houseful of children; the Frogleg ranch is doing well, the ladies each have their own business in town, and their cousin, Treli Pann, has come to Merriview, Texas to recovery from a broken leg, and has stayed on, working at the café. The story has a large cast of characters, some from the first book, and we meet many new ones in this story.
Pinkie Sloan is still a handful, and her new venture includes Bart Shepard bringing new animals for her, alpacas and more peacocks. Bart is out of the Army and goes by the name Shep; he is hoping to plant some roots, find a gal, marry and settle down.
The plot has so many laughing out loud moments with the antics of Pinkie, and no matter what she tries to pull off, Vince learns about it and takes her in hand. Shep and Treli have a way of rubbing each other wrong, and yet they both have eyes for each other. “She is about as welcoming as a runaway train. No man can stop her.” “Don’t try. Just slow her down long enough to board.” When Shep and Treli decide to work together on a project for Pinkie, it gives them a chance to talk and get to know each other, and they realize they are developing feelings. Shep is no pushover, and when Treli puts herself in danger, he takes her in hand. There are some comical situations that have you laughing as the women try and talk their men out of a spanking. There are a few tense moments too. The story has several punishments, and sex is only implied and not detailed. It does have a conclusion to some issues that come up in the story and also a chapter to book three that will be coming out in the Spring.
I loved this second book in the series and getting reacquainted with the Sloan brother's and their mischievous wives. But it can be read as a stand alone too. Drina and Pinkie are a couple of smart ladies who not only keep their men on their toes, they are pretty good at helping along romance that is too slow to blossom. Barty "Shep" Shepard wanted a wife to settle down with. He found her when he saw Treli Pann, Drina's cousin, working in Drina and Pinkie's cafe but things didn't go as well as he had hoped. This is a fun journey and I enjoyed every step I made with Shep and Treli. Wives didn't obey husbands any better in the 1800's than they do now! Girlfriends either. Treat yourself with this one. It's one of Chula Stone's best.
This is the second book in a series and it’s like visiting old, mischievous, friends. Shep is delivering a menagerie of critters and doesn’t plan to do more than that. But he sees a right pretty, young lady and realizes plans can change for a reason. He just doesn’t know how to approach her. Remember Pinkie? She has it alllllll figured out…getting her seat dusted by her man more often than not. And Shep? He realizes Treli, the circus owner…and the owner of all the animals, may be pretty, but she can be a pretty big handful herself. He’s not used to not being obeyed, so things really heat up. This is a fun read with lots of sorry, but deeply loved ladies. I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book. Gladly!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. Slingo, Drina, Vince and Pinkie Sloan are all back in the 2nd book in the Rancher’s Bride series. Bart Shepherd meets Treli while delivering exotic animals to the Sloans. When they meet, she finds him annoying and he finds her - his. Good story, good length. Cowboys who believe in spanking - discipline and erotic.
This wonderful historical western romance is the second book in A Rancher's Bride series but can be read as a standalone as well. The story focuses on Barty Shepard (Shep) and Treli, but also brings back the characters of Slingo, Drina, Vince, Pinkie, Betty, and Aunt Mina. Shep has come to town while helping bring Drina her new animals. When he first meets Treli they seem to have fireworks but not always in the best of ways. Treli is a daydreamer that was once with the circus, now helps in the café, is family to the Sloans, is independent, feisty, and curious. While these two characters seem to fight all the time, there is more to their feelings and find that as they get to know each other a different kind of fireworks begin. Shep, along with Slingo and Vince, have their hands full keeping up with the wonderful women in their lives. Treli, Drina, and Pinkie seem to find trouble even when they are not creating their own. Not to worry though, these men know the cure for trouble in the for of a trip over their knee and a warm bottom. I highly recommend this fabulous book that kept my attention from start to finish. The characters are interesting and seamlessly fit together to give the reader an interesting story. The storyline is well written and includes manipulation from an outsider, friendships, community, fun, humor, lust, spankings, and above all a lot of love. This is a can't miss book from a great series that kept me laughing and thoroughly enjoying my reading time! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
