Tony Garrett had always been interested in writing but never took the plunge. However, over the last few years, he has become quite the prolific writer. What makes Tony's story remarkable is this fact: Tony is legally blind, and--even with the assistance of digital displays--reading is a chore.

It had been 25 years since Tony had read anything as his range of sight leaves him visually incapable of reading physical books. In his words, when it comes to books, "there is no print large enough."

However, with the advances in modern display technology, and the malleability of digitally published works on Kindle and other apps, readers are given far more control over the appearance of stories. In Tony's case, switching the font to display as white on black, and increasing the character size until only a few words appear on each line allows him to read on a large screen or tablet.

"It takes a long time to read, but I don't mind," Tony explains. "It's changed my life. I love reading, now. And to think I never used to read much--back when I could see."

It wasn't long before reading the stories of others inspired Tony to want to write his own as he became amazed at how immersive writing could be.

"It's a much deeper subject than I expected," stating that it was primarily his experience reading The Lord of the Rings that inspired him to take up writing. "I read Lord of the Rings and was immediately captivated by how much better it was than the films, and I LOVE the movies."

KDP's community focus has helped Tony to take his writing more seriously. "Before I discovered self-publishing, I would have described myself as a hobby-writer. KDP and others have given me the ability to take it further."

Educated at the London College of Music, Tony is also a dedicated musician and composer, and when not writing, he likes nothing more than performing with his band.

This was SO much more than I thought it would be! I thought it'd be a light detective story with an urban fantasy base ..... but MAN ...... there were whole worlds in there! One of those books that grabs you completely by surprise with it's weird, wonderful and dangerous characters and a super twisty plot you can sink your teeth into. The ending was a real surprise and I'll be keeping my eyes out for more in the series.

Uniquely awesome gripping tale

Thought that this would just be a good time waster to read in my breaks and boy was I wrong. One chapter and I was hooked on this unique world of the paranormal. I have never read anything like it before and I seriously doubt I ever will again. Wonderful characters that take plot twists like champs. Can't wait to sink into the next book! Though mauve I'll start it on a weekend when I've got no plans or arrangement to do things. XD

Fun, refreshing

I liked the imperfections in the characters, the twisted plot, the story, the world - I'll definitely look for the rest of the series!
But for quite a number of typos, I'd give it a five star rating.

I was captivated by this quirky, funny, heartbreaking, spooky, and wonderfully written story right from the start! I hadn't expected to fall in love with the characters as quickly as I did, and it literally kept me up all night as it was impossible to sleep, until I found out what was going to happen to everyone. I won't add plot details or spoilers, but if you are a fan of the paranormal and love anything that is extremely well crafted, (there are worlds within worlds, in here, that's not really a spoiler - sorry!) written with a quirky and deftly unique touch, you will love Dead Again. This superbly crafted tale had me in turn laughing, crying, and simply desperate to know how it was going to end, despite not wanting it to! I am disabled, and when I realised from the author's profile that I had been reading something written by someone who is legally blind, I was even more in awe - and, may I humbly add, as a sighted person, I am reminded that I am so very grateful that I have the gift to read, that this wonderfully talented author doesn't now have, and say a huge Thank You for their courage and tenacity to bring us these amazing tales. I have immediately bought the next two 'Whistler' books, and I really can't wait to read them, these stories are very quickly going to head straight to the top of my list of favourite reads of the year...in fact, in many years! I am a fan after just one of them...imagine how it's going to feel to after two...and three...!!!!!!

Entertaining and easy read

I usually don't read books in this genre, but it was free on Bookbub and set in London so I gave it a go. It's intriguing and entertaining, although a bit confusing at first as we learn about the different spirit beings. The main characters, Daniel, Alex, Alice, Emily and Helen are likeable and pretty well developed. The bad guy is the Co!one but there are other nasty spirit beings in there, too. There's some time travel involved but hey, you're already dealing with ghosts. The book could use some good proofreading, especially the last few chapters, when wrong words or tenses became distracting. It's as if the editor got tired after a while and let more things go. It's a good start to the series and I look forward to the next book.

This was the first time I have read a book by this author, and though the story line was unique and different it was alright.

I liked the characters, even though there were times when they got really annoying. I was actually shocked on how the turn of events went, which was a nice surprise because just when you think you know where its going the story changes.

There were quite a bit of pages that were description of places and things, which in the scope of things really didn't matter.

Daniel has lost his wife under questionable circumstances and seeks to answer lingering questions. As a reporter, he is assigned a review story that leads him to "The Whistler", a character who is destined to change how Daniel thinks and feels about--well, everything.

Ghosts? Real. Evil? Much too real. Influences unseen but forceful? Absolutely.

Daniel will begin a new chapter in his life, one that will make him a true--if unsung--hero.

An enjoyable and very weird read.

Absolutely amazing book! Never read anything like this before on paranormal subject. It captivates from the first pages and drags you into the story, leaving your imagination do its job. Easy to read, no gaps in events order, no cheesy romance. Leaves a feeling that all characters had been put in their right place. I guess the movie would have a great success if based on this book.

Can’t wait to read the other books in this series.

Not a bad book. Like many reviewers, I found the multiple typos to be annoying and a bit below a professional writer, but they were manageable. Some of the slang i suppose is specific to London and was hard to put into context like when the author repeated “she tutted.” I have no idea what tutted is. Or in one instance he said they all “squashed” together... Overall, the book’s a good little time killer.

I enjoyed this story a lot. I gave it four stars despite needing additional editing; most of the errors were letters left off of beginning or ending or words, but there were some other issues, though not bad enough to put me off. The characters were well developed and their actions reasonable. The plot was good and the writing kept me riveted. I will look for more books by this author.

Very well written

Real page turner. Multiple characters each with a different reason interacting at many levels. Then you add in time jump, you in wartime England. I can't wait until Kindle gets book 2. I hope book 3 is coming out soon. He created a reality that made me think I was there and that it is a safe reality to live. T.J.you done good.

Dead Again

Loved the story, the different outlook on death. Had plenty of action and Intrigue to keep you interested, Daniel was quite the character in a very human way. All of the characters in this story were well crafted and believable. And to top it all it was a freebie. Fab

I am not sure where I picked this up, but I am so glad I did. It was well written, interesting characters, and I couldn’t stop reading it. It was a nice twist on the paranormal genre - not relying on tired cliches.

I have to admit to being a little disappointed by this book. The beginning was intriguing but the mystery of the opening turned into a ghost story. I prefer books to be anchored in reality and this went way off piste.

If ghost stories are your thing, you may enjoy it.

I really liked the conceit of this book and wanted to love it, but it came of up short for me. With better character development and build up, this could have been much better. The typos/grammatical errors that increased about halfway require me to make this a 3 star.

It’s nice to read an urban fantasy set in the UK. It would be even nicer if it wasn’t set in London, but you can’t have everything!

I liked this book; the ending came as a bit of a surprise, which was nice.

A book you cannot stop reading until you have finished it. A very new idea and not just another book similar to everything else. I have to read the next one right away!

3.5 stars.Enjoyed reading this. The copy errors were distracting. Guy is gradually learning about magic n his world and his own magical abilities. A goof in early part of book but at the and he learns of his personal history that is hard to cope with.

Paranormal fiction at it’s best

Well written and with a plot that gets you hooked. With ghosts, time travel and a cast of quirky characters this kept me engrossed to the very last page. Bring on volume two

This was not what I was expecting it to be but it was different in a good way. Obviously you have to read it from the perspective of it being fiction but if you do that and are happy to go along with the essence of the book (rather than bogging yourself down with thoughts along the lines of 'that's not realistic/believable in real life') then it's a fun book and enjoyable read.

Only a legally blinde person can understand the value and beauty of a well narrated story. Absolutely impressive how you can actually see the story, understand the characters and feel the story. Even the supernatural part of the story is beleivable.
