Mallory I spent years running from my past. Then, when my past comes knocking in the form of dark, delicious sin, I find myself caught up in a man I shouldn’t. My son's uncle. A dangerous biker. Not to mention, an overbearing Alpha male. Hunter is everything I need to escape from, yet I find myself wanting to stay. I know I shouldn't let myself or my son care for him, but I can't help wondering if maybe he's the one who can finally save me from my past.
Hunter The plan was simple. Find my nephew, bring him home, and raise him in the Black Angels like my brother would have wanted. But things never go as planned, like my nephew’s mother. My brother’s one-night stand. Mallory is spicy and sweet; one second she is mouthing off to me, and the next, she is moaning my name. The longer I’m with her, the harder she is to ignore. But she is hiding something while desperate to escape me, though I have her in my grasp. I will find out what she is hiding, and when I do, she will have nowhere left to run.
Writing books had been a big part of my life for many years; whether it was writing in secret notebooks during class, writing amateur novels or posting stories online, I surrounded myself with it.
Of course, it has its up and downs, but I've never once thought that writing wasn't for me.
Because of that, I can share the worlds I discover in my head with the outside world, and although that might sound crazy to some, it's fine by me. So long as I can do what I love, I'm happy.
And every person who's happy as a result of my writing is a bonus for which, I'm forever grateful for.
Decisions. Every one we make holds more power than we can know. Which one will be of little consequence and which will completely alter our future? Some choices we make are so small that we don’t put much thought into them at all. Do we go straight to work or stop to get coffee? Do we go to the party or stay home? Do we answer the phone or ignore the call? Those seemingly insignificant decisions can have extremely significant impacts on our life. Going straight to work might put you in the path of a truck that runs a red light. You could meet your future wife or husband at that party, and ignoring the phone when someone needs your help could result in tragedy.
However, there are those decisions that we know could have serious consequences, but we throw caution to the wind anyway. Maybe it’s because we feel like nothing bad will happen to us, or we are too weak to turn down temptation. Maybe we feel like whatever happens will be worth it in the long run. The fact is everyone makes good decisions and bad decisions. Our choices range from hasty to well thought out. The problem with these decisions is that they don’t only affect us.
One lie changed Mallory Ward’s life forever. It was a lie told in a moment of desperation. A lie that resulted in a pregnancy, and eventually a death.
Mallory didn’t mean for it to happen. Trapping Noble was never her intention. She wasn’t that type of girl. She only wanted to be with him…just once. If she would have let him leave, she didn’t think she would get this chance again. Admiring him from afar for years, this was the moment she would finally get what she always wanted. She couldn’t let that one little thing get in the way. Everything would be fine. The chances of anything happening from one time seemed unlikely. Too bad she was wrong.
When Mallory surprises Noble with the news that he is going to be a father, he reacts unfavorably. Shocked and hurt by her deception, he walks away from her that night, and she never sees him again. After she learns of his death and receives some upsetting information, Mallory flees from her hometown with the intention of never going back. Moving from place to place so that no one can find her seemed to be working out for her just fine…until it wasn’t.
Hunter was devastated over the loss of his brother. When he finds out that Mallory has his only nephew, Adair, he forces her to come back home with him. He knows she ran after Noble died, but he doesn’t know why. She agrees to go with him willingly if he promises to tell everyone that her son is his child. Hunter is a member of The Black Angels MC. They are his family, and he doesn’t want to lie to them. However, he knows that if he doesn’t agree to her terms, she will take off again, so he reluctantly agrees.
As Mallory and Hunter spend time together, it becomes apparent that there is an intense attraction between the two of them. Both of them try to fight it, but eventually it becomes too much and they slowly begin to give in to their desires. Mallory and Adair become extremely important to Hunter, and he wants to make Mallory his old lady. He can’t though because he knows there is something that she isn’t telling him, and he still isn’t sure if she is going to take off the first chance she gets. Will she put her trust in him before it’s too late?
Hunter is the first installment in the Black Angels Mc series by A.E. Fisher. It is Mallory and Hunter’s story, but it’s also clearly setting up for future books by introducing us to a plethora of other characters along the way. The author gives you just enough of them to make you want to know more of their stories. The whole time I was reading I almost felt like I might be missing something, but in the end, it made me want to pick up the rest of the series to satisfy my curiosity, so I think her approach to spark interest in the rest of the characters was successful at least in my case.
This story is full of action, emotion, steam, and just enough intrigue to keep me reading until I reached the end. I enjoyed watching Mallory and Hunter fall for one another, and learning more about the club and their rivals. Was it a perfect book? No. There was some things that didn’t seem quite right to me, and I didn’t like the way every situation was handled. Not to mention, I almost blew a blood vessel when Mallory got locked in Hunter’s truck…. because, you know, trucks don’t have locks on the inside or anything.
Despite any problems I had with the book, it was still an enjoyable read. I was invested in the characters, entertained by the story, and I’m interested to see what happens next. I would recommend this one to lovers of MC romance and/or romantic suspense fans. Suspenseful and sexy with a few surprising twists and turns, Hunter is a solid start to what is sure to be an even better series!
I bought the book because of the preview I read in Sarah Brianne's book- "Lucca" (which I highly recommend btw) The preview had the first two chapters and seemed really interesting. However, that's exactly where the story starts to go downhill for me. Don't get me wrong, this story had SO MUCH potential. But things were JUST a little too fast for me.
The book was great, but I constantly had a feeling that I'm missing something. I checked several times if this was first book in the series because it certainly didn't feel like it. There were a lot of side characters and it seemed like we should already know them because the author didn't properly introduce them, they were just thrown in the story and that was it. I still know very little of them but I'll be reading more books from the series as it has potential.
A few starters .. I'm not sure if this is A.E.'s first release or not. I had thought I found a few other books but then couldn't find them back so I'm lost on that .. if it is .. this is an excellent MC read. If its not .. I need to click up the other releases from you so let me know! LOL! Second the cover ... this cover is brilliant. The dark contrast with the title and the olive skin .. you have created an image that jumps off that black background. Excellent choice.
We are introduced to the Black Angels MC through Mallory and Hunter's story. And this is a really great start to what I hope to be a even better series. As I began reading the prologue got me turning the pages as quickly as I could as Mallory has apparently gotten herself into a bit of a situation. Confessing her sins to Noble (I love that name -- beautiful choice) doesn't turn out as she had hoped. His words have stung and still claw at her heart even after three and a half years. On the run -- living in less than desirable homes -- doing what she must Mallory is about to meet her maker.
Hunter has found the girl that ran. Now its time to find out why. Come hell or high water she will return home with him and help put the pieces of the puzzle back together. EEEEEKKKKK! I don't do spoilers but let me just say one of the best parts of the book -- Hunter may or may not kick a door in with his boot to get to Mallory. I have no idea why that stayed with me but it did. Just think -- a big black boot attached to a beautiful man who just blasted up on a Harley telling you to get your shit after kicking in your door. Um ... yupppp ... okay I'm coiming! HAHA!
And then unfolds the story. Throughout the pages we meet numerous Black Angels -- this is where maybe I felt I had missed a book or missed something. I wasn't lost I just wondered if I should know more. Were these characters from a spinoff of some sort or had they appeared in another series. GAH! I need to know if I am missing something! Anywho I love Wolf, Jax, Mint, Pretty, Lamb and then there is Anna. Now I gotta know what the heck is the deal with she and Wolf!
You are also introduced to another character during the climax of the story. I cannot release any more info about that to you BUT .. hang on to your heart because you are going to think .. but then maybe and then you think you really figured it out but then .... who knows. Only time will tell. I also need the back story on that little mac-truck that AE throws us into thanks to her brilliance.
This is a definite yes if you like MC reads. There is not the detailed interrogation scenes or brutality in any sort. However you do get some fiercely loyal men, some strong hearted men, a brotherhood that we are set to enjoy for I hope several more releases and a mixture of ladies who I'm certain will have a story of their own to tell.
Love this series and love this release. Thank you for the ARC! -- Girl get to writing! I need another please and thank you! -- Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
Hey, this surprised me...I read hundreds of books a year and many are MC genre. This was amazing and apparently a debut by a promising author. Lots of intriguing characters that were set up here for future books. yay!
First read from this author and I really enjoyed it. Enough action to keep things interesting and great chemistry. Loved the female characters in this one.
Good characters and writing style that drew me in from the beginning. Great supporting characters as well but I would have preferred a bit of background about the club and te key supporting characters especially Wolf and Anna as it feels like it was being set up for their story next. All in, a good easy-going read.
Hunter and Mallory are like ice and fire. Brought together through both of their love of Noble. Fighting at every turn. Decisions made. Haunted by ghost of the past. United in protection of one. What a read. Great balance of drama and mc action. Original and fresh storyline. Loved every minute of it. Hope this is only the start of an exciting sexy series. Great job.
What I liked: I really liked the son. I’m a sucker for kids in books.
What I didn’t like: The H really annoyed me in this book, especially leaving her at the park wth was he thinking
How hot was it: 3 out 5
Triggers: None
Final thoughts: It took me awhile to get into this book. I don’t know if I will be going to the next one. I guess I will have to see if it sounds good or not.
Very slow and dragging and the plot has a lot of issues. Wolf's men didn't see that the girl was pregnant and had a kid while they were keeping an eye on her, really?
Wolf sending her away wouldn't protect her, it would have made her more vulnerable and much easier for the Hell's Runners to kill her.
An uncle would not get joint custody of a child without the mothers consent, or the court notifying her to appear for the case. He would not be able to stop her from leaving with her child.
You can't lock someone in the passenger seat of a car and even if you could, it took her three hours to remember that she could hot wire the thing?! Seriously?!!!
It doesn't make sense that Hunter didn't tell Mallory that Nobel was going to her, not trying to get away from her, when she breaks down crying believing that she'd driven Nobel to his death.
It didn't make sense that Nobel didn't share what he had on the Hell's Runners with his MC brothers or at least his own brother.
Not once does she as a mother mention all the violence her son has been through and how terrified he's been since Hunter forced them home. The problems with the plot go on and on. It's just not crafted well.
As for the writing, it is a bit juvenile and missing details. Shrugging wouldn't expose tattoos.
The whole conversation in the truck with him talking to a woman about Mallory getting pregnant didn't make sense.
Hunter doesn't really come across as Alpha male and the romance between him and Mallory is too sweet for me.
Even the teasing between the mc brothers was a very immature.
There are wrong words used and the author switches from the first person pov 'I', to third person 'His', in the same scene. - 'I didn't consider her plea', switches to, 'It wouldn't weaver HIS decision' on the fifth page in.
I need a more experienced and knowledgeable standard of writing and a more in-depth plot than this.
When Mallory tells the love of her life (a one night stand) that she is now pregnant with his baby, it didn't really go the way she thought it would, or maybe it did. Noble knew when Mallory told him she was pregnant that it was a trap, he just didn't think that she would be like the other girls. He walks away, while Mallory ends up running away.
Hunter had no clue he had a nephew out there, the only thing left of his brother. It takes a while but he finally finds Mallory and Adair, and after blackmailing her, gets her to agree to come home where Hunter thinks she belongs. With a lot of twist and turns, drama and danger, Hunter realizes that he wants more from Mallory than just his nephew, but can he actually keep his promise in keeping the two of them safe, or will he fail?
So I really thought this would be a lot better than it actually was, it starts out so strong and then just sort of fizzles. Mallory was a hot mess at times and there were times where she just plain got on my nerves. Overall I think it has a very good plot but the follow through just wasn't there, the character development wasn't there, and even the side characters just sort of fell flat for me. I do think this author has promise and I'm willing to read from her again, but this gets a 3.75.
Forgiveness is what we strive for, even for ourselves. Forgiveness brings us freedom from our own restraints. Forgiveness allows one to live again.
I cried along with Mallory. Her guilt eating her from the inside out. Her only peace was Adair. He was her world and she would do anything to keep him safe and happy. Being on her own has been hard, but her strength to be everything Adair needed her to be, kept her fighting to survive. She left without a word to her family and friends. Her life of running was only to keep Adair safe. Her sadness was written with such an intensity, my heart broke. The only light in her darkness, Adair.
Hunter's determination to find his nephew finally pays off. Finding Mallory and his nephew was all he wanted. This was the only family he had and he was not going to miss any more of Adair's life, whether Mallory liked it or not. Knowing this was just the beginning of the battle, Hunter must find a way to keep Mallory from running again and the only way to do that was to find out why Mallory ran from all she had ever known, her life, family and friends.
The characters have such an intimate pull towards one another. Their past decisions leaving them with unanswered questions and no answers. Their vulnerability causing each to act out. With some prodding and an explosive outburst from Hunter causes Mallory to let the truth out.
Their emotions running on full speed, their attraction to each other and the relief of being able to move forward with their lives was enticingly written to bring the reader an experience that will linger within their own heart forever.
I decided to read this book after finishing Lucca, as the first 2 chapters were printed at the back. I can say without a doubt that I really enjoyed this book and was glad that little teaser was avalible. I'm hoping it is part of a series as I am already intrigued about Anna and Wolf.
The characters in this book seemed consistent throughout the novel, which I deeply appreciated and the love between the two main characters never seemed forced.
I have never been a big fan of MC Romance novels as every single one I have read always have a group of "bitches" and I don't like the way these girls are portrayed, however this book made it possible to enjoy these scenes without making the "bitches" look like less then humans.
I look forward to seeing more from A. E. Fisher in the future :)
I loved this book! I bought it during one of my kindle binges, not really expecting much. Wow, was I surprised. Hunter has a crazy mouth on him, in more ways than one, but oh lord! I can't wait for the rest of this series. We need more Jax, Anna, Wolf, and the rest. Can't wait.
Mallory has been in love with Noble for a decade. A one night stand leaves her pregnant when she tells Noble she didn't realize that would be the last time she would see him alive. Hunter is Nobles younger brother. He has been looking for Mallory for years and has finally found her and his nephew. He brings them back to his house and her home town. This is a awesome read. I couldn't put it down. It gives you just enough drama with out going over the top but it definitely sucks you in from the beginning.
Mallory has been on the run for years until her son's uncle finally catches up with her. She has no other option than to head back home with him. The big, bad biker made that very clear. Hunter finally has his nephew back and intends to see him raised in the MC like his father would have wanted. Unfortunately, there is a reason that Mallory ran in the first place and that reason has not given up. Can she survive and resist sexy as sin Hunter?
This is the first time I have ever read a story from this author and must Thank Jamie Becket for recommending this author I really enjoyed the story although it as been done before this story is far better there are twist and turns throughout and the description of characters is so good you can see them as you read the story I really think this is going to be a great series
I really enjoyed this book. The banter between Mallory and Hunter was good. There is a bit of a mystery surrounding Mallory and why she disappeared 4 years earlier. The supporting characters are great and I look forward to the next book.
I am excited after reading the Black Angels MC Book 1! Once I started reading I could barely put it down. Hunter is hot, hot, hot! And the best part is he has lots of hot MC brothers so here's hoping that the Black Angels MC stories can keep on coming for awhile...
Thoroughly enjoyed this book! There were some surprises I never saw coming! i really liked the other characters too, and will definitely be looking for more of this series.
New author to me and I gotta say loved it. Hunter the biker, Mallory the run away preachers daughter, Wolf the MC President, Anna the club lawyer. Add that to a story of a one night stand years ago and a death and the guilt that followed you have a great story for a new MC series
