Poet Parker his having a rough time of it … and then some.
She owes her boss Max Anderson everything for saving her from a life on the streets, but Mystic Caravan’s favorite psychic is struggling because that loyalty caused her to lose a shot at true love.
When the circus hits Brigham City, the nature lovers in the troupe are looking forward to visiting the Great Salt Lake while Poet can’t shake the feeling that someone … or rather some dark thing … is watching her. Her discomfort doesn’t ease back at the circus, where Kade Denton is busy pretending she doesn’t exist while he grapples with the truth about his parentage.
When a local boy goes missing, the police show up at the circus and announce that everyone is a suspect. The suspicion only grows when the missing boy turns up alive in an adjacent field. Even after returning him to his parents, the police refuse to back down and Poet finds the walls closing in.
Between a shady cabin in the woods, local legends about saltwater monsters and angry ghosts that may be waging war on outsiders, and Kade’s inability to stay away even though his anger still festers, Poet has her hands full.
As always, though, the show must go on. The circus runs like a well-oiled machine … until trouble comes calling. Poet finds it’s difficult to straddle the line between magical demands and emotional reality and when the enemy becomes clear she finds she might be the ultimate target.
Can Mystic Caravan’s band of merry mischief makers hold it together long enough to take down another foe? Only time will tell whether Poet’s happy ending is within her reach … or if death with find her first.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

I gave this book three stars because the Kade character was over the top with his hurt feelings. He was so over the top and too dramatic to the point that I almost put the book down and said to heck with this. But I did finish the story. Hopefully in the next book the author calms him down and gives him some Pamprin for his minstrel cramps!

A fabulous book

What a fun read! This series is excellent and each book has a wonderful mystery with lots of humor and relatable characters, despite their paranormal abilities. Romance was finally in the air in the last half and I can’t wait to read what happens next.

Why do all of her heroines start off strong then fall apart because of a man who has to protect her at all cost? Even though she was a strong character.

This is another series I started and actually very much enjoyed and never made it through book 3 and just stopped. I hate that I can't make it through series even though I am highly enjoying them. Now there are 9 books out. They are small books but still - I will need to start completely over since it has been around 4 years since I read the first one. SOMEONE KICK ME into gear!

Freaky Hearts begins with Poet being heart broken because of what happened in the previous book. Also, Kade is spending more and more time with Raven and that is like a knife to the heart for Poet. But when Poet is attacked and Kade comes to the rescue, he can't stay away from her after that. And as some more truths come out things get more complicated between them.

This book was really good! I thought it was better than the previous two books, and I adored Kade and Poet together. I still hate the stuff that went on with Raven, but I was happy with the outcome, and the story line was really interesting. I look forward to more in this series now!

I swear poet was acting exactly like Kate hudson in (how to lose a guy in 10 days)
I mean even her maturity level and self esteem was down the drain WTF
The thing that helped this story was the way she acted with strangers and the killer that is the only saving grace
And although it confused the hell out of me that she had split personality at least i liked one of them .

4 Stars... Poet's plate is full mending a broken heart, leading Mystic Caravan, and trying not to kill her best friend Luke... When she is attacked in her sleep and children go missing, she must put her personal problems aside and confront the supernatural entity bent on revenge... With the help of her makeshift family she may just be able to save the day and heal her heart at the same time... Another fun and entertaining read from Amanda Lee filled with a cast of unique and dynamic characters... You never know what to expect when you run away with the circus:)

😍💜 Finally!!

First off, I sat and read this book most of the day yesterday. I finished it at 2:30 this morning! I just couldn't put it down for longer than a few minutes.
I love the humor in these books. Probably because it reminds me of myself and my friends. I'm more pervy than them though so I'd probably be Luke. Lol
Aside from the humor there was a bunch of heartfelt moments in this book and FINALLY! Poet and Kade buried the carrot! Ok, that was lame, sorry. I'm glad they made up! Moreso that Kade forgave Poet.
I can't wait to see what comes next in this cute, funny and freaky series. Hopefully Made can forgive Max too and build a relationship with him in the father son capacity.
I also need to see what other twisted creatures and havoc await the Mystic Caravan crew.

Fun paranormal mystery

The denizens of the Mystic Caravan Circus are monster hunters, being circus performers is their side job. It also makes the perfect cover to travel around the country being eccentric. Predictably, they run into their fair share of prejudice and stereotyping in the course of their travels. In this story, they're in a particularly difficult venue when bad things start to happen and they become the focus of suspicion. There's also a complex character development that happens alongside the mystery and in this story the characters' personal lives distract them from being at the top of their monster hunting game. So far, I'm really enjoying this series and look forward to reading more.

The topic is not one of my favourites

Yes it was a good read and the plot was well thought out but I really don't enjoy books where children are the victims. It's just a personal pet hate. Plus I was surprised that Kade would actually act that way. He seemed to be more the talk it out and find out what and why type. Seems I was wrong and he suffers from wounded pride like any good diva.
Their new stop is me with hostility from the residents and beauty from the surroundings. Kade has abandoned her as has Max. Add in Raven in full throttle, an attack on her, pickets, missing children and a shack in the woods. Can she with the regulars work out who, or what took the children and attacked her before worse happens? Will Max or Kade come round?

Too much time spent on relationship drama. I can't decide who annoyed me more, Kade or Raven (can anyone really be that full of themselves?), or even at times, Poet. This same kind of drama plays out in every series (including the ones written under Ms. Lee's alter-ego) and it really distracts from the overall plot of the book. Don't get me wrong, I like the romance, but I think it can be played out better.

The story gets better once the focus is put more on the underlying plot, the mystery. Unfortunately, that happens too close to the end and it's not enough for me to want to give it a better rating.

I really hope book 4 is better.

Another amazing read!

Wow fantastic book. I'm loving this series. Its full of adventure and mystery.
This book starts 8 days after the last book ended. Kade is keeping his distance from Poet after the revelations from the last book.
The circus lands in a place called Bingham City in Utah where they have never been. Its very different to places they have been to before.
Children get abducted and the circus people are in the crosshairs of the local police.
With this mystery get solved before they leave to the next venue? What will happen to Poet and Kade's relationship? Will Kade ever forgive Poet? All of these answers are answered in this installment.

The circus goes to Utah, has to deal with picketing and then they find a missing child, which makes them the main suspects in the cop's eyes.

What I enjoyed:
* I still just love the entire premise of this series. The constantly moving circus that also hunts monsters.
* We got a bit more of supporting characters this time
* The baddie was real bad and backstory interesting
* Ends without personal conflict finally!

What could have been better:
* I don't understand Raven. I really wish we would learn more of her backstory.

Poet is in a bad place emotionally and it's also having a physical toll on her too. So it's not good timing when they land in a new place that is not exactly welcoming. In fact it becomes downright hostile, especially when they are suspected of being responsible for the missing local children. So it seems only fitting that they should all sort their problems out and solve the murders. Fortunately the circus always come though best as a team and even better if they would only let Nellie weld his axe a little! Fun and mayhem once more. There were also moments to melt my heart :-)

I did not finish the previous book in this series because I could sense all the forced inter-personal angst on the way, and that is a part of the various romance genres that I just can't abide. So I picked up this book, skipped over most of the senseless hurt feelings and carrying on and finished up the actual mystery part of the story. It was definitely different. When a series is based around monster hunting, it can't be easy always coming up with a new monster to hunt; I'm growing to like this crowd more the more I read them. Seeing real potential.

Loved it!! There was definitely some relationship angst in this one, but I thought it was handled really well. This book made me love Kade and Poet together even more! The mystery was also fantastic and I was definitely left guessing. I love this series because it feels fresh and unique from Ms. Lee's other works but with the same amazing mysteries, engaging plot, and romance!

Wonderful adventure

I am loving this series. Who hasn't wanted to run away and join the circus? The members of The Mystic Caravan are even more special than you may think. The are great friendships, rivalries, and romance among the crew members. Not to mention a shared mission to wipe out evil beings, one beheading at the time. A must read for paranormal adventurer fans.

Jr teen romance mystery

It's a very teen/young adult series. That being said, the writing is pretty good for that sort of a genre. I'm not sure if I'll read any more of these. I really like the characters but the stories are getting very blah. I wish she wrote books like this, but more for grown ups. There's just too much middle/high school drama.

THE NEW AND IMPROVED BAD GUY

This the second time in a month that I have heard of that type of bad guy. He doesn't fit the normal parameters. I do really like that the circus is a disguise for monster hunting.

Not my fave in the series. Everyone was a bit whiny in this book. Hopefully there will be a fourth to redeem some of the characters.
