When one of High Lord Valadon’s rare paintings goes missing, his second in command, Remare enlists the help of Professor Miranda Crescent, an art authenticator and Elemental, to help locate the stolen work of art. Knowing the darker side of vampire politics, Miranda is reluctant to offer any assistance to the handsome vampire who once tried to kill her, no matter how sexy and alluring he may be. But when her former assistant and nephew to the High Lord, Nick Valadon, implores her return, she agrees.
Their search will lead them to Nightworld, home of the Rogue vampires and a confrontation with Stryder, the dangerous leader of the Rogues. Together, Remare and Miranda will enter the dangerous world of underground auctions where only the very rich and powerful procure “lost” works of art. Making their search more difficult is the rising heat between the vampire and the Elemental, whose attraction may turn out to be more lethal than the adversaries they encounter.
Diana Marik is the award-winning author of the romantic urban fantasy series, The Seven Deadly Veils. She grew up in New York City and has her MA in English literature from Hofstra University. A history buff, Diana loves discovering museums in whatever city she happens to be visiting. Her favorite spots to visit are in the American Southwest, but she considers New Orleans her home away from home.
I had hoped for Miranda and Remare to get together, and this story shares a taste of what it would be like. The incident that brings them together is fun with a touch of danger. I could not put it down and look forward to the next installment in the Veilverse. I highly recommend this story and the series.

This novella comes after book one and before book two and this series should be read in order. Miranda Crescent has managed to stay away from High Lord Valadon who has made it clear he wants her but when one of his favorite paintings is missing Nick, his nephew and Remare his second in charge come calling.
Valadon is currently out of town, and it is hopeful that the painting will be found before he returns to find it missing. Miranda finds herself unable to refuse and embarks on a journey that would be filled with danger. She survived after almost dying in book one and Brandon, Valadon’s brother was one of her torturers and now is believed to be the thief. Remare wants Brandon dead despite Valadon’s insistence he just be captured.
While working together Remare and Miranda find themselves fighting their feelings for each other, especially Remare who is at war with himself over his desire for Miranda and his loyalty to Valadon. Until Valadon decides to give up on Miranda Remare will be unable to consider a relationship with her.
Unfortunately, their desires out rule them, and they give in to them knowing that there is nowhere to go in the future. Now to continue to Book #2 !
There is danger, attacks by rogues, a burning desire for a future between Remare and Miranda but this time the only harm that she suffered was to her hair and she was not a happy camper. This was just a taste of what is coming, and I can’t wait, we also learn more about Miranda and her Elemental powers.
I loved this little novella - maybe even more than book 1 in the series (if that’s even possible), probably because it was veeeery steamy and all sorts if things that I was looking forward to happened :)
In the first book the author mentioned something along the lines of Valadon drawing a parallel between him and his Torians and King Arthur and his knights of the round table. The Blue Veil confirms that there is more to that parallel then equality among Valadon’s elite and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how things progress.
There was only one minus to this book from my perspective (which I now realize was the same in book 1), sometimes there is repetition and other times unnecessary details. For example, the story of the disgraced Sotheby’s expert was presented twice, once when Felicity tells it to Miranda and a second time when Miranda herself recounts the scandal before meeting him. Not a biggie, but maybe something the author should consider.
I found this book quite compelling. As a novella I must say it was a fully packed story. I had not read the first in this series but I found no difficulty. This book can stand alone.
The whole underworld life of vampires and werewolves was intriguing. When the High Lord Valadon is away his second in command Remare discovers and irreplaceable piece of art missing from Valadon’s collection. This is when he enlists Professor Miranda Cresent a renowned art authenticator to aid in the search. Miranda at one time was employed by Valcorp but left their employment.
Things really heat up when Remare and Miranda give in to their attractions to each other. We learn the problems of their union and find ourselves waiting to see what happens.
I am not a reader of paranormal but I must say this book certainly held my interest from beginning to end.
This novella was a nice introduction to some of the characters from the Seven Deadly Veils series. You do not need to have read the series to enjoy this novella. It does recap a bit letting you know how the characters know each other. The main character is brought in to help find a stolen piece of art before the boss vampire comes home to find it missing. Along the way she finds she is having feelings for someone that she is not allowed to have. This is a fast and fun read. and has now got me interested in checking out the rest of the series. I highly recommend checking out this quick story.
Miranda an elemental human is invited to locate a missing painting while helping Remare a vampire she is strongly attracted to. In the beginning, they try to keep their distance and their emotions under control. There is a passionate love affair developing between them.Remare is trying to keep his cool and his distance regardless of his attraction to Miranda. This is the first book in a series of books and it ends in a cliffhanger even though the problem of the missing painting is solved.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Trigger Warnings:scenes of violence, scenes of sexual content
Diana Marik’s The Blue Veil is a captivating novella that proves a short story can still carry emotional weight and depth. I was especially drawn to the evolving relationship between Miranda and Remare, it was tender, complex, and beautifully paced. Their connection added richness to a storyline that was both engaging and easy to follow, making this a perfect read for anyone looking to be swept away in a few hours. Thoughtful and well-crafted, this novella left me wanting more in the best way. #bookloungereviewteam
This book was a short read with my two favorite characters from the first book in the series in the lead. I loved the rising passion and tension there is between Miranda and Remare. The deepening of the relationship between them. Next to having some spice in it, the story contains action and suspense. You get to know some more background to Remare and learn more about Miranda’s Elemental powers. I couldn’t put the book down, and since it’s a novella, I went through it fast. Luckily part 2 (and further) are already out in this series, so I can read more about Miranda and Remare.
Such a good little novella. Love that Nick notices a painting missing from Valadons collection and him and Remare reach out to Miranda to get her help. The lengths she goes to, to find this painting is shocking. Remare and Mirandas connection in this book was 🔥🔥🔥 but so sad they decided to not be together. The sword dance was so interesting and then Remares sword collection 😲. I hope they finally get Brandon in the next book.
The Blue Veil is a wonderful side-dish to the Veil of Shadows Saga. The sexual tension Diana Marik started for Miranda and Remare in Veil of Shadows continues here . I was hooked from page 1 and sailed right through it. Her characters are so rich and complex and her writing so beautiful. I can not WAIT for Veil of Mists, the next in the series. And how gorgeous is that cover!

I'm actually kinda annoyed that Valadon has been nothing but gracious to Miranda, but she would rather be with his son and then best friend rather than give him the time of day.
I kinda hope he gets over her and finds someone better, then she can watch him be happy and regret her choices
This book was a really good side story, but a side story nonetheless. I do enjoy Miranda and Reamare together, to of my favorite characters from. The series. It is well worth the read, but I do miss to find out more of the underlying story from the first book. And that is solely why it gets 4 stars instead of 5.
Ok I am so Team Remare. Just the way he says Mir-randa, I can hear him trill those "r"s and it does something to me. This novella just keeps us hooked to the story between books 1 and 2 and still keeps you wondering who she will ultimately be with.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story of Remare and Miranda searching for one of Lord Valadon's missing paintings. These two characters certainly have intense chemistry as they learn to trust each other more and more. Looking forward to the next book.
The suspense was edge of your seat in this fast-paced, suspenseful mystery. Miranda and Remare make fine detectives as they hunt down a missing painting from Valadon's archives.
THE BLUE VEIL is a novella that sits between the first and second books in the Seven Deadly Veils series and we meet up with Miranda and Remare once again. One of Valadon's paintings has gone missing and Remare wants to find it before Valadon returns home.
This was a brilliant novella, with everything you could wish for... there are attacks by Rogues, steam enough to fill a sauna, and delving into the underworld of illegal auctions. It was also full of emotion and I devoured every word.
I am looking forward to reading the next book and hope for a HEA for Miranda and Remare! I also want one for Valadon, as he's not a bad guy, just infatuated with Miranda when it's clear he's not the one for her. Definitely recommended but I would suggest you start with Book One first, as it details instances that you will need to know about.

Ms. Marik has surpassed herself! The world she has created is utterly authentic, captivating, compelling. Her characters are intelligent, complex and elegant. And they move effortlessly between the sinister criminal underword to the haughty sophisticated haunts of New York's elite art collectors. Waiting for the next adventure of Miranda and Remarre!
This is a page turner that kept me engrossed throughout this suspenseful read. Filled with action, mystery, romance and betrayal! The author captures the complex relationships and evolving personalities between the humans, vampires & weres brilliantly. This is the 2nd book I’ve read in this series and the twists and turns continue to keep me reading more! Can’t wait to read the next book and see what’s in store …
This is the second book in the 7 deadly veils and it does not disappoint. I may even say that I liked this one more then the first just because of the hero and heroine in this novel. Miranda Crescent has avoided the vampires since she was abducted, tortured, and almost burned at the stake 6 months ago. And for good reason. Thanks to the head vampires attachment to her she became a target of anyone who wants to take down valcorp and the coven. But now that she has been asked to come back in to help recover one of the priceless paintings. But as things heated up between Miranda and Remare so does the tension. Because Remare is the head vampires second. And is extremely “family” oriented. He does not want to betray his best friend. But he does not want to give up Miranda either. So as the threat continues their passion heats up, as does the danger from those they consider friends. As they search for the stolen painting, and search for Brandon (Miranda’s once torturer) they must endure much and look towards the future that they are not guaranteed. I would definitely recommend this book. I adored it and it is a great continuation of a series I can not wait to finish. There was a lot going on and you are able to see into the mindsets of Mirana and Remare even more than you do in the first book. I hope I am not the only one out there but I truly hope that Remare and Miranda get to find the happiness that they deserve at the end of this series. ~ A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection.
Diana Marik’s newest release in the Seven Deadly Veils series is a novella which has Remare contacting Miranda for assistance in locating missing valuable art which they suspected was stolen from Valadon’s archives. The two characters have sizzling chemistry which is showcased as they work together to track down the painting before Valadon returns from out of town. The characters are edgy and intriguing. The plot is suspenseful and sexy. You feel the struggle between the two as they fight their attraction to each other. I’m drawn into this series and am fascinated by this world of Vampires/Wares/Elementals that Ms. Marik has created (and I’m not a fan of vampire books!) I'm hooked to this addicting series. Eagerly waiting for book 2. Continuing series. This novella folllows book 1.
This book was a very good read for me. The book was very well written. I have never read any book for Diana Marilyn before. I did not realize it was part of a series. Let me tell you this had me on the edge wanting more. I really loved the chemistry between the MC Remare and Miranda. Overall really loved this book looking forward to more from this world.
After reading book 1 in the 7 Deadly Veils series -- Veil of Shadows -- I knew I'd be reading as many books in this series as Ms. Marik will write. So this Vampire Junkie was thrilled with the release of The Blue Veil. In this novella, Professor Miranda Crescent reluctantly agrees to, once again, help the House of Valadon, this time at the request of Valadon's second in command, Remare. Along with trying to locate one of Valadon's missing paintings, they're also trying to locate and capture Valadon's evil brother, Brandon. To my EXTEME delight, as much as they both tried and wanted to deny it, the sexual tension and chemistry between Miranda and Remare exploded in this story! For that reason alone, this story is worth reading. It's a quick, interesting, and steamy read that you surely won't want to put down. Be sure to read book 1 first to avoid any confusion.. I truly love this series and CANNOT wait for the next book to see what adventures and dangers await Miranda, Remare, Valadon, and the rest of the cast of characters.
It was Very Good I wanted more after the First book and was not disappointed at all . It was as good as the first the story line was consistent and easy to follow . I did not have to refer back to the fist book. Just a pleasure to read . With Not what You would expect to happen not boring by any means . Highly recommend this set . Enjoy
