Holy fucking Christ, that ending was utterly horrifying...
This a one-shot that takes place in the same world as And Then Emily Was Gone and is done by the same creative team of John Lees, Iain Laurie, Megan Wilson, and Colin Bell.
The story follows Dr. Quilte, a dream therapist who can enter the dreams of her patients and cure them of the nightmares haunting them. Everything will change for Dr. Quilte though when she is approached by parents of a young man who is scared to sleep. Once she agrees to help, she quickly discovers her job may not be as simple as she initially thought...
Lees has quickly risen to the top of my favorite comic writers list in recent months. Everything I’ve read by him has been top-notch and this is no exception. It’s honestly a shame he isn’t getting more gigs, since the dude’s one of the best comic writers working at the moment. Iain Laurie’s art is definitely not for everyone, but it was the perfect nightmare fuel for this story. His horror imagery is surreal and top notch.
Really enjoyed this and would recommend it to any comic fans looking for a good horror book. It’s one of the freakiest one-shots I’ve read.
(2016 Halloween ComicsFest giveaway) Laurie's weird artwork turns this creepy story into a nightmare in print. I'd never heard of this writer/artist team and now I'm chomping at the bit to read ...And Then Emily Was Gone. I don't get scared by comic books too often, but this was genuinely chilling.
I genuinely fell in love with this comic. The gruesome artwork gives it a horror vibe since the beginning. Even though you expect it to be creepy, you don't expect the ending. The topic is simple, but engaging and it makes me love this piece.
