Everyone knows there is no “I” in team, but to Macs Newstead--orgasm-gifting, muscle-filled Navy SEAL hero--there are more important words than team. Words like victory and vanity and selfishness. People say those words like they are a bad thing, but to Macs, they’re simply tools in his highly effective arsenal. When a man’s entire existence revolves around the necessity to end lives, silly, mundane things like second dates or monogamy seem worthy sacrifices.

Downward facing dog or doggy-style--it’s all the same to Teala Smart, a whip-smart yoga instructor. She owns her studio like she owns her life--with focus, positive energy, and pure devotion. That devotion, however, does not trickle into her love life (or more accurately, her lust life.) Relationships are a roadblock to her success. They get in the way and tangle up emotions more than the lotus pose tangles up limbs. Men are best kept just for a night and then released into the wild before feelings get too messy.

HERO HAIR, the second novel of International Bestselling Author Rachel Robinson’s THE REAL SEAL SERIES, is the account of an life-altering journey detailing the awakening of two hollow hearts, both set on taking their own pleasures without any emotional attachment. The ruthless SEAL finally meets an enemy he can’t defeat, and both Macs and Teala find, against their wishes, and despite atrocious circumstances, a chemistry so explosive it leaves nothing but deconstructing love in its wake.

Holy Moly. I don't know how Rachel Robinson does it? Hero Hair was nothing like I'd thought it would be. I wasn't expecting my heart to pound as hard as it did. I wasn't expecting my mind would spin as much as it did. I wasn't expecting the halts in my breathing. I was not expecting to FEEL as many different emotion that I did.

In Hero Hair the player gets played. And I'm not even talking about the hero. The heroine is as big a player as our lead guy. And I LOVED that!! It was refreshing to have two characters who were exactly the same, in life, with love and at playing the game.

The dynamic of our lead character's relationship is set out flawlessly. I couldn't have asked for better. The whole story line flows so perfectly that I was swept away in a blossoming romance that was light and fun but oh so freaking hot. I mean, HOLY WOAH! Macs & Teala are hotter than the burning flame. Their connectivity and intensity blasts out the pages and just catapults itself all over your body, causing heat prickles and tummy sloshes OF THE BEST KIND. They are filthy, dirty, raw, smutty creatures and I LOVED EVERY SINGLE PART OF IT!

At 66%, something flipped in the story and my love for it solidified. Don't get me wrong, I was already in love with Hero Hair but at this point, at 66%, I fell head over heels, into deep, intense love with it.

This was also the point where Rachel flipped everything on its head and just made it MORE. All of a sudden it was even more consuming, I mean it killed me to stop reading to update my Goodreads progress! All of a sudden everything was more intense and more heart poundingly, brilliant. The suspense and rawness of what was happening held me on the edge of my seat. Everything in my body flamed hotter, my tummy continued its onslaught of even bigger sloshes and my emotions WERE A MESS.

Hero Hair took me on a brutal, breathtaking adventure. One that caused me to shut everything else out because I literally couldn't drag myself away. Everything was executed with perfection and brilliance. Everything was executed with passion and sincerity. Hero Hair was EVERYTHING. I can't rate higher than 5 stars but if I could, Hero Hair would definitely take 10!

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book. I really enjoyed the first one in the series, and this was no different. I fell in love with the characters, particularly Macs in this book. I love the banter of the Seals but also of Teala and her friends. I also like how things still connect from the first book, even if only in a small way.

Highly recommend reading this one, and I'm looking forward to the next!

Let's get this out of the way first. HOLY FUCKING COVER! I almost didn't even read the book because I couldn't get past the cover. I'm pretty sure that I had to wipe some drool from my mouth at an airport bar for about an hour before I even started reading.

This is my first Rachel Robinson book. I would say that the cover is what drew me in but it was really the blurb. I've always liked the upfront promiscuous guy who falls hard and was intrigued with the idea that he meets his female rival and falls for her. After the prologue, my expectations were high. I was laughing so hard and really enjoyed the banter so I was ready to buckle down for all out laughs. What I didn't expect was the bit of angst that came along with it. I'm all for angst, it just want's what I was expecting.

I will admit that there was something that held me back from fully connecting to this book. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it but I think my expectations after the prologue just weren't met. The story was good in general and I really liked both Teala and Macs. I think some sections might have been a bit too detailed for my liking, which could have been why I didn't fully connect.

Again, don't let my rating fool you. I did enjoy this book and I look forward to reading more from this author. I think a lot of people will enjoy Hero Hair. It's funny, a tiny bit angsty and overall a joy to watch two people with major commitment issues fall hard for one another.

I absolutely adored this book. Hero hair is a wonderful mixture of comedy, romance, and heartbreak. We feel each of these emotions so fully at one or more times throughout the book. The author has done a truly amazing job envoking these emotions. What I loved most about this book was the fact that this wasn't another "tamed playboy falling in love" book. This had its very own unique spin on a true playboy, and girl, and I really have never read anything quite like it.
After being paired together by Mac's friend, he realizes he's met himself in a woman version. What better than meaningless sex from someone he will never see again? Teala is definitely in the business of meaningless sex-but when she takes on a bet by her friends to have a real relationship and not give it up before date 4-she's left in a predicament when she meets the gorgeous, charming navy seal Macs. The two have sexual chemistry off the charts-and agree to enter in a fake relationship-to appease his family, her friends, and her mother. As the dates progress to 4, something shifts, and instead of lust the two form a real relationship. The writing of the banter, the way they interact physically, and emotionally, is done in a way which makes the two characters seem like genuine people. We love their sex crazed-new to love relationship, but as everything seems to be working out amazing, things take a turn for the worse when Mac's job send him away for an extended period of time and Teala is left at home picking up the pieces from an emotionally disturbing event. We are consumed with heartbreak just as the two main characters are. Their journey to find each other again is a wild rollercoaster, but just absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this military playboy romance book!

Hero Hair is the the second book in The Real SEALS series and the first book I have read by Rachel. I haven't read a book where the Prologue makes me laugh so I knew Hero Hair was going to be awesome. I was captivated from the beginning till the end. Love, love, loved the story line and the chemistry between the characters. Hero Hair was well written and is a kicka** story. Looking forward to more if The Real SEALS series and I am definitely going to read the first book Black and White Flowers.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC for this book.

Hero Hair is the second book in ‘the Real Seal Series’ by Rachel Robinson. Like her other books it tells a story about real people dealing with real issues in circumstances they can’t control. The blurb of Hero Hair intrigued me; two total commitment-phobes finding each other and trying to make it work… I love the story of Teala and Macs, even though it had some very angst-y moments (something that makes me scream).
“Can a human ever truly belong to another human? Can together stay that way long-term? In my experience it’s always temporary, a fleeting feeling of lust and happiness.”

Teala is a woman who has it all: she has her own yoga studio and when the mood strikes she has no problem finding a guy to spend some sexy times with. As a result of her childhood Teala doesn’t do relationships, she’s afraid to get hurt, and therefor sticks to one nightstands and bad boys. When her friends challenge her to take an absence of her normal ‘dating’ escapades Teala promptly meets Macs, her equal in every way when it comes to ‘dating’. She doesn’t want it, but she starts to fall for the handsome SEAL.
“Do I know that it’s not normal to desire him so quickly? Yes and no. Any hot-blooded woman would desire him. Most would never act on their desires. Would a normal woman be offended or put off by his forward suggestions? I’m not sure I can answer that affirmatively either. I want him and I’m blinded by it.”

Macs is a big Navy SEAL who travels the world and enjoys his work. Knowing relations and traveling all the time don’t mix – and seeing that with his colleagues – he sticks to casual hookups. It seems apps like Tinder are made Macs; swiping through the available women he’s always an hour away from some hot sex, no commitments. But, just like in his work, he always aims to be the best, never leaving a woman unsatisfied. When a friend sets him up with Teala, Macs notices very quickly she’s just like him and he has to have the beautiful woman. Too bad Teala just made a stupid bet with her friends…
“I don’t know her well, but even the small amount I’ve learned, has led me to believe she truly is a full, devious package. I want her body. I want it more now that I see that other men want her body. No one can deny the caveman response to others desiring the same thing.”

Teala and Macs are exactly the same: both love sex (a lot and lots of it) and both don’t do commitment, each for their own reasons. The moment they meet both feel the insane attraction between them, but due to Teala’s bet they don’t act on it (yet). Instead they are spending time together and this makes them think about the choices they make and why they only do casual sex. Slowly they start to embrace the idea they can actually make it work, that they can be in a normal relationship like other people. But when the world around them start to fall apart, so do they. Macs has to leave and defend the free world, and Teala… Well, she just loses it. Macs and Teala belong together, but it won’t be an easy road.

Rachel Robinson, what do you do to my poor heart! I know your work, and going in I knew Hero Hair wouldn’t be any different, but you still make me want to scream. Despite this, I love Macs and Teala. They are both realistic people who don’t make apologies and aren’t ashamed for what they like. The first part of Hero Hair is the normal ‘couple meets and gets to know each other’, the second part is what makes this story. Teala and Macs want to be together, but forces beyond their control make it impossible. Teala’s breakdown and healing where painful to read, but I understand her; she wanted to be Teala again, not just for Macs but above all for herself. I wanted to strangle Macs a few times in the second part, but that’s not fair. He was going through his own hell and did what was needed.
“Doubt isn’t in our repertoire anymore. Clarity comes when you can’t make sense of anything. You grasp what you want and forget everything else. His kiss takes over all of my senses. He only breaks to smile at me—no words are spoken, but everything is said. Macs is my clarity. My family. He’s my hero.”

I love the story of Teala and Macs, I give Hero Hair 5 stars.

Rachel Robinson is hands down one of my absolute favorite authors. She never fails to deliver stories that will rip your heart out, while loving every minute of it. Hero Hair is the second story in her Real SEAL series, and the timeline coincides with the first book, but it can definitely be read as a standalone. However, if you haven’t read the first book, you need to now! It was so very good. Hero Hair is another fantastic tale of hope and survival, and what it means to overcome your fears.

Macs and Teala  are quite the pair. Both taking pleasure from whomever they want, whenever they want, neither wanting things to last past a night. On the surface, these two have definietely met their match in every way. When Teala’s friends lay down a challenge, for her to actually try and date someone, there is a possibility of so much more. Macs is willing to pretend to date Teala to get her friends off her back, and hopefully get something he wants in exchange. But it won’t be easy for these two commitment-phobes when the pretending becomes all too real.

I loved the push and pull between these two as they tried to navigate their way around each other. The sexual tension is off the charts as they try and deny their primary desires in order to date “normally”.  As always, Rachel Robinson infuses a healthy dose of humor that balances quite nicely with the darker aspects of the story. Just when these two start to come to grips with what is happening between them, the ground under their feet is swept away, and Teala is left with the harsh reality of what it means to be involved with a Seal.

At this point, the story takes a turn and the darker issues these two have been dealing with rear their ugly heads. I love the roller-coaster of emotions I experience with Rachel’s writing. The characters are so real and their experiences are relatable. The humor, heart, and angst make this one story you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait for more stories from these group of Seals.

Teala Smart is a successful, beautiful woman, who's a yoga instructor. However, she doesn't believe in relationships, so she hooks up with whatever bad boys that she comes across. When her friends bet her she can't "date" someone, her competitive nature has her taking that bet. Macs is a hot Navy Seal who doesn't have time for relationships so he also hooks up with all kinds of different women. When he meets Teala, he wants to go to bed with her in the worst way, so he agrees to her terms to win the bet. Neither of them never thought that their strong connection would overtake them. Hero Hair had all of my dramatic girly girl emotions out to play. For the longest time, I wanted to throat punch Macs in the worst way, as he acted like a dog. Then when I finally fell in love with him, Teala had me all kinds of frustrated, although I did understand her point, but the result was Macs went back to the doghouse. I can say with the utmost certainty, these two people were made for each other. The flammable chemistry shot spark to finally ignite into fiery flames of sexy scene goodness, guaranteed to incinerate panties everywhere. Rachel Robinson has a very talented writing style that once again, instantly had all of my attention, holding it hostage until the very end. Her twists were loud f-bomb worthy moments that also had my eyes leaking a time or two. I LOVED this story so much, so not only did I devour it, but I was left wanting so much more. I CANNOT WAIT to see what is next, so I'll end with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Hero Hair to all!

Aaaand now I've read more titles by this author...huh...formulaic for days. Heroines are either hyper-sexual or naive virgins. Heroes are all a "type".

I loved this book! Had me laughing out loud on the first page!

Teala has issues with commitment, they stem from her father leaving when she was young. She gets over this buy only having one night with men, they both get what they want with no strings.

Macs is a Navy SEAL, he is gorgeous and knows it and is a huge ladies man, he likes the motto love them and leave them.

When Teala’s friends challenge her to try a real relationship out she decides to go for it. She never expects to meet Macs though and that she may actually start to fall for him!

When tragedy happens in the USA Macs has to go off and do his job, Teala struggles with him leaving and things blow up.

Can Teala get over her issues? Is Macs willing to fight for her?

This books is funny, sexy and has some serious parts too, it all works so brilliantly. The characters are all fantastic and I hope we get to see more of that group of friends.

My Review: (ARC provided)
5 stars!!

It’s always so hard for me to come up with words to let a reader know just how much I loved and adored a book. It’s hard to do a book justice when the words are all there in the book and you just need to read it.

Most of you know I am a huge fan of Rachel’s, she writes everything I want in a book, humor, angst, hot sex, likable characters and of course romance. Well her latest book Hero Hair does not disappoint, we get Rachel at her best, once again.

Teala (h) is a great character! I love flawed heroines that aren’t your typical sweet virgins. She is strong on the outside but has some emotional issues she herself isn’t fully aware of. Macs is kind of a cocky a**hole but one you can’t help but love and as the book goes on he develops into this character that you will always remember. Macs is who he is and doesn’t have a problem with it.

“He doesn’t just walk like a predator. He is the god**n king of those motherf*ckers.”

I love how honest he is about it. In fact I love both Macs and Teala’s honesty from the get go (at least with each other).  Both are very sexually charged, they know what they want and aren’t afraid to say it, they were both up front with each other and knew what they were getting into.

“Four nights and then sex?”

“Maybe three. I have to confirm with them. They had some weird timetable I’m not familiar with.”

The chemistry between the H and h was sizzling right off the pages. I love when I can feel that when I’m reading.

“The physical connection between us is palpable. It breaths on its own. It has a life force neither of us can deny.”

When I first started reading this book it was almost like a RomCom, (which happens to be one of my favorite genres) and then BAM I was shocked at what took place after, but let’s just say we get to really see some deep seeded issues Teala has been hiding away, and Rachel writes it so well. I felt for Teala and I understood her pain but I also wanted to strangle her. We also really see Macs flaws too and his insecurities in handling it. He's this big strong character that can handle just about anything that life throws at him until this…which also had me wanted to reach into the book and shake him. This is when the book took me on a roller-coaster of emotions, it was so well done.

I’m so excited to get another “Real Seal” novel! Bravo Rachel for another awesome read!!

I highly recommend!

Read the full review, including memorable and tweetable quotes (seriously, some of these are SO GOOD!) at GraveTells:
http://bit.ly/GT-HeroHairReview (available on Friday, March 17th)

Ever wonder what happens when two players get together and deny themselves first- (or even second- or third-) date sex? A whole freaking explosion of sparks and feels. I. Love. These. Characters! Both Macs and Teala have such confidence, such acceptance of their sexual selves that they are just flat out addicting. Throw in the ego that Macs is clearly begging to have deflated and the emotional vulnerability that Teala so carefully hides, and these two are a walking mess of hormones and contradictions.

I breezed through this book—barreled is more like it—in a day. Part of the reason I just couldn’t put it down is Mac’s cocky-as-hell personality (it’s more charming than it sounds), and part of what fueled my addiction was the constant sexual tension in the first half of the book. Seriously, the first 50% is practically one big mega-extended foreplay session, and it is freaking glorious. But the real draw, and what sets off such beautiful sexual wanting, is just how uncomfortable these two are with the idea of having a real relationship.

The story is told in dual first person perspective, and I don’t think I’ve ever been more grateful to have a peek inside a male character’s head than experiencing Macs’s side of the romance up close and personal. He is unapologetically male—practically a dog, with some serious charm and a palpable aura of authority and skill, both in the bedroom and in the field. Teala (pronounced Tay-la) is the female version of Macs without the rough edges. She’s refined, successful, and modern, and she’s not afraid or ashamed to sleep around to get what she needs. They’re both so vulnerable to each other, but spend half their time putting up walls so the other doesn’t see it. The symmetry between the characters’ personalities and how the plot unfolds is just stunning.

Not too long after the explosion of sex and feels and lust these two have been chasing for their entire non-relationship, this review suddenly became really difficult to write. I would rather say nothing than give away a pivotal moment in the story (although if you’ve read the first book in this series, you already know what’s coming). I want to give more than 5 stars to this book! I cannot even express how much it teased and charmed and ultimately crushed my heart.

Hero Hair is a hell of a romance, but it’s much bigger than that. This is not your typical Navy SEAL romance. This book has an air of realism and vulnerability that is the mark of honest, progressive, period-appropriate literature, romance aside. I would recommend this to my male friends (who have a tolerance for romance) as readily as my girlfriends, it’s that relatable.

God, this book. We’re only a quarter into 2017 and I already know Hero Hair is going to be one of my favorite romances of the year. It’s raw and devastating and vicious and loving, clever and funny and so heart-stoppingly beautiful at times I wanted to cry. It has atmospheric highs and brutal lows.

Hero Hair is a story about picking your battles, knowing when the choices matter and when a sacrifice is worth someone else’s happiness. It’s about truly growing up, when you could have sworn you were already an actual adult. And it’s about holding on to love with both hands when it’s easier to convince yourself you don’t deserve it.

And if that GQ-looking Navy SEAL you’re so gone over just happens to have amazing hair? Just go with it, girl. As for me, I am gone on author Rachel Robinson. Hero Hair is the first book I’ve read from her, and it ab-so-lutely will not be the last. And I’m pretty sure Macs’s and Teala’s tendency to use swear words as adjectives totally enabled me to indulge my own bad habit! *grin*

Sometimes the silence I created is too fucking loud.

Hero Hair is the second installment of the Real SEAL series. The first novel revolved around Smith and Carina, this novel is about Teala and Mac which already showed up in the first novel. This is their story. Their pain. Their love story.
I can easily say that the drama is not as high in this one.

Teala and Macs start off as a bet to appease her friends (of course), but soon see that they have more in common than their insanely trained bodies, hard six pack and bedhopper skills. Teala owns a yoga center, specializing in Hot Yoga, and does her time in the gym afterwards. One could say, she is a bit of a sports addict, she reminded me of myself some years ago. She likes her single life until her friends mention something else.

Enter Macs. Macs is a typical manwhore, looking for a way to wet his dick daily, but something about Teala interests him, aside from her hot-as-fuck body (his words)
I want to know you better, Teala. Do you understand?

Both of them are not skilled in the terms of leading a relationship, but for each other they'll try. I want her in here in my space. In my world. In my fucking bed. I want her.

They try and try and try, until.... until.... it happens.

"You just became everything."
"I can't become something, Macs," I say into the crook of his neck. " Especially everthing."
He sighs. "Tell that to my heart."

“What the hell are you, Teala Smart?”
I grin. “I’m a lot of things, but I’m mostly your worst nightmare.”

Macs Newstead and Teala Smart have a very similar outlook on relationships, they don’t have any use for them. Why bother forming messy attachments when you can have your fun and then move along? That’s exactly what they had in mind for each other when they agree to meet up. Teala wants Macs the second she lays eyes on him, and the feeling is mutual for him, but she’s recently agreed to a challenge from her friends to try having an actual relationship so she has to regretfully tell Macs that they can’t hook up… unless he’s willing to play along for her friend’s sake. Never one to back down from a challenge, Macs agrees to go along with her plan. What they never expected was for a silly bet to completely change both of their lives.

“Every word you say makes me even harder. I’m not backing off. Quite the opposite. I will listen to everything you have to say until there is nothing left to say. That’s when actions come in to play, and, Teala?” he asks. I nod, a quick gesture to signal him to go on. “That’s when I’m going to show you what you’re doing to me. Up close and personal.”

If you’ve read Black and White Flowers, the first book in the Real SEAL series, then you should already be familiar with Macs and Teala. This book is on a parallel timeline with the first book, so if you’ve read the first one then you will also know the craziness that ensues at a certain point. And I will say that even knowing what was coming, this book still managed to surprise me with the direction Macs and Teala’s story took! I never expected things to turn so heavy, but I thought it was so well done and I loved (even though it was tough) the journey these two underwent.

“You just became everything.”
“I can’t become something, Macs,” I say into the crook of his neck. “Especially everything.”
He sighs. “Tell that to my heart.”

Everything about their relationship was intense right from the first moment they met. If ever there were two people on the same wavelength, it was these two. The big issue is that the wavelength they were on was all about not forming attachments to anyone. It was fun seeing them stumble into this foreign territory together. They went from zero to 60 in the blink of an eye and just as they finally acknowledged this thing between them, the world throws them a giant curveball and they are tested in unimaginable ways. So whereas the first part of the book is intense in a fun and exciting way, the second half of the book is intense in a frightening and difficult way. I loved all of the feels that Rachel Robinson squeezes out of you over the course of this story! I would have never guessed how heavy this story could get. I thought the ending was perfect, though, and I loved the epilogue so much!

“Oh, God. You’re one of those people?”
“What kind? The motherfuckin’ awesome kind?” I ask, bringing my arms down to cross over my broad chest. Her gaze skims my muscles. I flex a little harder.

I have really been enjoying this Real SEAL series, I love how atypical the characters are and how exciting the storylines are. I’m wondering now if the future books in the series are going to continue with the overlapping timeline, like the first two did. I think it’s interesting to see how differently each person and couple is affected by the massive event that takes place and I think it would be cool to continue exploring that in the upcoming books! Either way, this was another highly enjoyable release from Rachel Robinson and I look forward to reading more!

From the minute you read through the prologue you will know that you have a winner in your hands, or at least I hope you do because by the time I finished just those few pages I was not only chuckling a snorting like a loon but I was totally in love with the story and it hadn’t even begun to hit its stride.
Neither Teala nor Macs are the type of person who is ready, willing or able to commit to a relationship, they both have their foibles and that keeps them firmly entrenched in their own worlds but while it seems as if it is just the fact that they are that they are commitment phobes almost, is that really what is going on for the two of them or is there more to this pair than meets the eye?
Perhaps they just need a journey outside their own particular box to see that there is more to life than they’re willing to allow themselves, they have to understand that they’re selling themselves short. Teala lives a life of almost solitude, through choice I may add and other than the odd one night stand she has little to do with anyone and especially men. That is right up until she meets Macs, because her organised, structured and very orderly life is about to be battered into submission by a SEAL who isn’t about to take no for an answer!
The chemistry between the two of them was electrifying, they were perfect together, that is if you could actually get them to admit that they wanted to be together. I loved the bitching, the back and forth banter and bartering, they fuelled a need in each other that for some reason hadn’t been present before but now it was, there was no chance that it was going to be fed by any other means, they had to find a way to make this work.
The words skated seamlessly across the page and I commend the author on the clarity and connection that she gave not only between the characters but also that I could feel between them and myself as a reader. They were enticing and just when I thought I had it worked out, that I could see the light at the end of the tunnel for the two of them, the direction seemed to switch and was left thinking WTF.
There were some pretty intense sections of the book that set well with the other more intimate and relaxed passages, it encompassed more than I initially thought and that made for a read that I quite simply couldn’t put down.
You will laugh out loud at numerous sections of the book and for much of it, it will be Macs that is leading the charge, he was highly amusing and totally charming. I was captivated
With a number of super secondary characters, I am really interested in seeing where the author takes the series next but I can’t wait to read the next book.

What a read! Another book full of steam, humor, love and angst. Hero Hair is the second book in Rachel’s Real Seal Series. It can be read as a stand alone but I will advise you to read them all!! So far Hero Hair is my favorite in the series.

Macs is a player. He doesn’t do girlfriends, random hookups are his way of life. Being a Seal doesn’t help either, it keeps him gone for long periods of time. He needs to keep his mind sharp while on missions and worrying about someone at home is not worth his time.

Teala is just like Macs, she does not do repeats. She has an issue with commitment but doesn’t let that affect her sex life. Her friends think she needs to start trying to find a real relationship. They throw out a challenge that she can’t back out of - date the same guy for at least 4 dates before “anything” happens. Can she do it??

Teala and Mac meet at the wrong time! He thinks she is a sure thingbut she just started her bet 😂 Somehow she gets him to agree to dating her. The tension and confusion between the two of them leaps off the page. Neither of them know how to navigate what they have gotten themselves into!!

What happens when two people who have never had a relationship before are forced into it? Will real emotions come into play? When the 4th date comes around, will it be over or will they find something in each other? Can they make it through or will life get in their way?

It was refreshing to watch these two try to figure out how a relationship works. Watching the changes in each of them made it feel real. Their love pulled at my heart strings and I rooted for them from the start!

I am a huge fan of Rachel Robinson. I have loved everything I have read of hers. Full disclosure. But, this book, well, this book was extra special in my mind. Teala and Macs definitely are one of my all time favourite couples I have read and that Rachel has given us. Macs and Teala are male/female versions of each other in terms of their sexual proclivities. They both shun relationships, love sex, only do one night stand type hook ups. So when Macs is told about Teala from his buddy, who had a hook up with Teala, that she is just his type, he decides to meet up/hook up with her. The chemistry is off the charts right from the start. Unfortunately, Teala made a bet with her friends that she couldn't do a "relationship" rather than hook up. A trip to Vegas is on the line. Her friends have set the conditions. No sex until the 4 or 5th date and only gradual making out escalating until then. So she is disappointed that Macs is just like her instead of a "nice" guy she can try to win her bet with. She discounts him, only to be surprised he is all in to try. This build up in their relationship is so fun and hot. But things get real pretty fast and then, reality really does crash into them in ways that neither every could anticipate. I can't tell you how much what happens to them is one of the best relationship twists I have ever read. It was real and so painful to read. Rachel Robinson really brings this book to a level beyond this genre. One of the best books of this year.

There are some characters who are written in the "perfectly flawed" sort of way. Teala and Macs are these characters. They are who they are and do not make excuses for their past or present choices. They also understand why they are who they are and they still fully embrace their messed up selves with open arms. It goes without saying that when two perfectly flawed characters meet, explosive things will happen. Having read Black and White Flowers, I knew what was coming and was emotionally prepared for the background and the ways that it would affect the characters in this book. Or so I thought, I was by no means prepared for the way my characters would handle the inner turmoil that was a reaction of the events occurring. You read a book, thinking you know and understand a character and out of nowhere, everything you think you know gets flipped on its head and you are left sitting there jaw agape not knowing what to do.

Macs is the perfect edition to the West Coast SEALs that have graced the pages of Rachel Robinson's books. Teala is the heroine who forged her own way through hard work and determination. Together they are the magic that is "Hero Hair."

Where do I begin? I ADORED this book! I don't think I can even express to you in words how much I did, but I'll try because I'm not a quitter lol. First and foremost, it started off with thee cutest, most original prologue ever. I mean, seriously, it was a perfect start to Macs and Teala's story. It captured those two perfectly. What did I love so much about this book? Why am I sitting here writing this review with such a goofy grin? EVERYTHING! The writing is flawless, I was captivated by the story line from the very beginning, and I absolutely loved, loved, loved the characters. Macs, aside from being sexy and beyond gorgeous, was everything I dream about. A Navy SEAL with a body to die for, a wicked dirty mouth, and a heart of gold. I truly fell in love with this fictional man! Teala, the ever strong heroine, had a vulnerability to her that made her real which allowed me to connect with her on so many levels. I could not get enough of these two! Their witty dialogue alone made this book unputdownable. Not to mention that the sexual tension between them was off the charts! Holy hell, there were some super HOT scenes! I could go on and on about my love for this book, but I don't want to give you a summary of their story. You just HAVE to read it. You will not be disappointed, I promise. It's fun, it's sexy, and it's even a bit emotional with a touch of suspense. I highly recommend it! And when you have finished Macs and Teala's story, please go back and read the prologue again. You will love it even more the second time around and you too will have this goofy grin!

Teala Smart is teaching something that I could really use right about now. She makes no excuses as to who she is and what she wants out of life. Her friends have an interesting description for her – not normally used to describe women. Macs is looking for something – or someone – more. He and his friends talk about women as if they’re entertainment.

The good news with this book was that at times I had to chuckle about how Teala feels about men. She’s a woman who is trying to have her business succeed and fit in a personal life when she can. At times, I felt like her attitude was more male then female. I had to go back and re-read some of the scenes because I thought that I had misunderstood what I was reading. In a way, that is a prejudiced view because we expect women to act a certain way. There’s a scene where Teala kind of addresses that issue. It’s kind of a wake up call – why should we expect men and women to look and act a certain way. But Macs’ friends remind me that some things never change.

I may not have felt any type of connection with this story but that won’t stop me from reading more of this author’s work. She did pique my interest into what this series is about and who the other SEALs are. There’s only one other book currently out, Black and White Flowers, and one coming out this summer, Life Plus One. Even though this book is number two in the series, I didn’t feel that I needed to read book one in order to understand or enjoy Teala and Mac’s story.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

This is the first book I've read from this author and it won't be the last. I was hooked from the very first chapter. We first meet Teala who has some serious commitment issues. She basically lives her life closed off from the world, and only connects with men during one night stands. She's all about no strings attached. She thinks she has life pretty much in the palm of her hand until she meets Macs, a navy seal.

The plot and storyline flow so seamlessly. It was so easy for me to get sucked right in. The character development was on point and let me tell you, this book is HOT! And then when you finally get your groove and you think the story is going to go one way...BAM! you get hit with another intense scenario.

The characters and even the supporting characters are all fantastic. This is the second book of the Real Seals series and I didn't feel like I missed out by not reading the first book, but I am definitely going back to read it. This is a great story and I highly recommend it.

Macs and Teala.... 3.5 stars...

After the prologue, my expectations were high.

I will admit that there was something that held me back from fully connecting to this book. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it but I think my expectations after the prologue just weren't met. The story was good in general and I liked Macs. Teala's character change towards the end of the book was a bit of a "no brainer" and something I didn't understand at all - to me it was highly unnecessary.... I perceived her as a strong minded woman, but was disappointed in the end.

I ended up hating our heroin for being spineless and feeling sorry for the hero to have gone through such turmoil after being busy saving the world.

The ending also felt rushed, and somehow I wanted more...

Alas....personal opinions are personal opinions. Overall, a good story with excellent chemistry and witty banter.

I really enjoyed this book, it was so good and nothing like what I expected at all. I loved the story, it was beautifully written with elements of love, fun and laughter but also of death, destruction and heartbreak. It was a book that messed with your emotions.

Taela and Macs chemistry was just off the chart and although it all started as a game. Things happened to change it. I won't say to much as spoilers are horrible. The supporting characters in this book were great too and helped to bring so much else to the table.

In this instance, a $40 dollar hairdo and a picture say a thousand words. This is my first book by this author and I can honestly say it won't be my last.  A huge recommend from me.

Good looks and easy hook ups, that was the life for Macs and Teala, until it wasn't. Teala's friends challenge her to commit to one person. and not hook up immediately, no they had to adhere to a set of rules, no matter what. Perfect right?! As you can guess the challenge was a success, but then there was a wrench thrown in, and end to the world wrench. Now insecurities and separation threaten to destroy what they had so frailly developed.
This is the second book in The Real Seal series, filled with passion and love and so much schmexy, then the big twist in the book make your head spin and your heart break, while tears roll down your cheeks.
Suspense, filled with love and yes a Hero that will fill you heart with hope. An other hit for Rachel. I am guessing that Tahoe will be the next Real seal to find love.

No cliffhanger
Standalone though book 2 in a larger series
Told from both POVs
Minor editing issues

I was very excited for this book because of the last one. The last book was gut wrenchingly beautiful so my hopes were high. This book didn't disappoint. While on the lighter side of drama compared to the first book I found myself laughing more at the banter between the two characters.

Teals and Macs are basically mirror images of each other. Both are competitive. Both are very healthy people. Both are completely obsessed with doing the deed. And neither of them is looking for a relationship.

They meet via a mutual friend and under normal circumstances they would have ripped each other clothes off and never seen each other again... but this is where being competitive and a simple bet get in the way.

The book mainly focuses on how 2 people who only think about one thing can wait until the 5th date to do the deed.

Towards the end of the book life gets a little too real for them both and they are torn apart. The question is...will a $0.22 bet be what brings them back together...forever.

Great book. Love this author! Hope there are more to come.

Hero Hair on an actual hero, Macs

Rachel Robinson has the best SEAL stories. Actually a man and a woman story. Both of them working through their insecurities and fears to find love, lose each other, then get a second chance. All of this takes part during a traumatic event for our country.. So there is a very real fear of being able to survive. But remember while you are reading, pictures say more than words and twenty two cents. Cried and laughed through this book. Hope you love it as much as I did.

I didn't like it.
I found the main characters really crass and unlikeable.
Time was hard to follow, would have been better giving the reader more indication of how much time had passed between dates and key events.
The way the males were portrayed (esp the main male) was so disgusting and mysoginistic. No respect for women, referring to them as "c*nt crew" or something like that, and portraying women as nothing more than a pair of breasts and the sex between their legs. It was very unappealing and there was nothing admirable or likeable about these so called 'type A, alpha heroes'.
