Just when Elliot Saganash starts to bring his life under control, his onetime best friend Tammy McPhee steps back into the picture to tear it all apart.
Elliot's time as a student at the University of Manitoba has been stressful, to say the least. A new girlfriend, too much coursework ... it's all overwhelming. And then Tammy calls to tell him she's out of juvenile detention and returning to Harrison Mansion, the home they shared with the Elders before an ancient spirit changed everything. After what happened the last time Tammy was alone there, Elliot knows he must return to the mansion for a showdown with her. But convincing Tammy to move out isn't easy, especially when all she wants to do is fight. Things only get worse when mystic writing appears on a wall in the mansion, and Tammy calls in an archaeologist for help. When Elliot's girlfriend flies in from Manitoba for her own showdown, things quickly spiral out of control.
Pick up the second book in The Chain series now, and fall into the urban fantasy world of spirits that delivers action and suspense galore!
I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. I joined the Air Force, and my career took me from coast to coast before depositing me in the St. Louis, Missouri area for several years. After a tour in Korea and a short return to the St. Louis area, I retired and moved to the greater Denver, Colorado metropolitan area. I write speculative fiction, mostly science fiction and fantasy. My favorite writers over the years have been Robert E. Howard, Philip K. Dick, Roger Zelazny, and Michael Crichton.
I'd like to see this as a film, it would make great viewing x
I absolutely loved reading this book and immediately bought the next in the series. This is the sought of book that would be great made into a film.
Two members of the same family in life and death situations, miles from each other, find both situations have a bit of a connection. The ancients threatening the live of those individuals who stupidly opened the tombs. Loved ones are lost. The scene building is brilliant especially at the dig site, moving from camp a to b and also inside. I really need to get back to meditating, a sweat lodge would definitely help 😀.
I would give this book more than 5 stars if I could. I love the covers of the books but it's always pointed out in the book that Elliott pushes the glasses onto his nose yet he does not wear them on the covers, does he stop wearing them?
An excellent follow up to "The Journey Home", which until recently I just didn't have time to read, which is sad because it's a great book. Once I finally did have time, I could not put it down. Both of the main characters have matured, and are coming to terms with the teachings their elders provided them. Horrible forces continue to pursue them, forcing them to acknowledge that their elders beliefs were true, and that they need to come to terms with it quickly if they hope to survive.
Once again, I continue to really enjoy P R Adams writing style, pacing, dialog, and the worlds his characters inhabit.
Full of action, mysticism, and monsters, this book gets more intense as it goes along. Elliott and Tammy are in for the ride of their lives, or, is it their deaths. A real thriller.
