What could be more naughty and delicious than hot sex in the company sauna with a gorgeous stranger?
Dr. Parker Crowe is a straitlaced forensic scientist who works long hours and lacks social skills. He works out at the company gym to tone up his lean body and for three weeks, has his eyes set on Dallas Austin. His physical presence is sturdy and imposing, his body is scarred, and he carries himself with quiet authority and sharp intelligence. Parker knows he works at the company, but doing exactly what?
Dallas and Parker take their time learning about each other while Parker loosens up and enjoys the most mind-blowing sex he’s had in his entire life.
I couldn’t help but be reminded of Bram and Jamie in A Bit of Rough. Bram and Dallas share a lot of similarities. They are rugged, passionate, assertive and secure. Jamie and Parker are intelligent, shy and somewhat lacking in confidence.
Though the two stories were alike in many ways, I still enjoyed the humorous interactions between both men and the build-up of sexual tension followed by wild, hot and impulsive sex. Not only does Laura Baumbach write steamy sex scenes, she writes fully developed characters that are easy to fall in love with.
I really hope to see more of Parker and Dallas. I want to learn more about his job and I’m very curious about where he got his scars.
Just a fun little erotica throwaway about two men who know each other only through having worked out together in the company gym for three weeks. One of them finally makes a move when they're in the sauna. This is an extended sex scene but a well written one with intriguing characters and hot chemistry.
Holy shit, Batman. Okay, so this is seriously... *guzzles some more ice cold water, fans self* - seriously hot. And cute. I actually giggled when Dallas called Parker cute and he started acting all offended! :) Nevermind that I read this all in, like, ten seconds. Well, this is gonna work fine if you're cold and don't have hot chocolate on hand ;P
Slippery When Wet works just fine as a quick smut-fix, but as a story it feels like ripped out of context. Basically a long sex scene without beginning and end.
In my opinion, writing a truly good short story is a challenge even for the best of authors. To create solid characters that interact in a meaningful and realistic way in just a few pages requires a deft hand and a master storyteller that knows how to exercise restraint while letting the imagination run wild. Laura Baumbach is just such a writer and her story does not disappoint. Her mastery of creative imagery and in depth characters never fails to light up the page.
The only criticism I have of this story is the almost too rapid capitulation by Parker when Dallas professes to be wrapped up in getting to know him better. Prior to that scene, Parker remained the "geeky" scientist who struggles to believe such a ruggedly handsome guy would be interested in him at all. Admittedly, Dallas was right in his face and leaving him little doubt as to his intentions, but still, I felt the character Ms. Baumbach had created in Parker would have had a healthier and longer lasting dose of skepticism.
However, this was a minor glitch and in the long run, did not detract from the overall impact of the story. So, if you are in the market for a hot little sip of a tail, please do check out Slippery When Wet by Laura Baumbach.
I really enjoyed Slippery When Wet - the only quibble I have is that I wish it was longer. I would love to see a sequel that explores Parker and Dallas' budding relationship.
