This is exciting! While the delight in discovery found in the first book has passed, the increase in tension and energy surely makes up for it. There are many battles, both personal and epic. Minor decisions have major impact, and everyone has their own surprises. Love brings strength and torment. This story ends on a plateau, where everyone is safe and mostly happy. There will be more challenges in the future.

This is large-scale fantasy at its best.

I will continue this series.

Adrian managed to make this second book of the series even more breathtaking than the first one. Twists and counter-twists keep the reader alert and eager to read on and on and depleted and longing after the final words disappear. Waiting with passion for the next of the series.

Artistic and imagination in full cylinder

I can almost hear "action" as I read the scenes a page at a time. My personal words cannot give justice to the awesomeness of this story. I wanna love "Sha" more and hate the villain more than ever before. In the fight between good and evil, ultimately the evil is demolish. In this book the sweet revenge is the adventure of a lifetime for mere mortal. The characters both good and evil was written so well that their goal was not predicted solely because of the characters roles in the story. Yes death was ever present but wow in how it was done.
What a great idea for the weapon that destroyed the venom was so named after a great and influential character. I would love to read more of Sybaris.
What men would do to maintain control, push a strong woman aside after the hardest task had been accomplish. It's romantic but irritating to have a savior of a man be his lover. Grrr...yes, I love you too much...is one way to soften the blow to stop the man from getting killed.

Warning don't read out of order you will be lost.
Trigger warning rape is in this book.

Adventure, romance and very old magic. With drama, and deceit thrown in together.

Shadyia is at it again. She can't help but stick her nose in everything. Even if it really doesn't concern her. Her biggest concern is getting out of the dilemma she's in and getting her lover Dee out alive. But everything it seems is falling apart at the seams. The Innocenti warriors have waged war on all. No one is safe not even rich nobles and their King of the city. Makayla has betrayed everyone even her sister in her greed to become Queen of them all. A dark queen for a dark king. Her king. Shadyia must stop her but she must also first stop Verthandi for what he will do will kill them all and the world as they know it. Just to open the sealed door to free his brothers and sisters. Will the power of a magician, and sword skills of a whore be enough to stop him?

Shadyia loves red-haired Deresi, her sister of the Silver Rose and will do anything to save her from danger. I've read books about lesbian love before but never one where a whore is the book's heroine. Yes, she's a whore, but her love gives her strength to overcome all obstacles.
The plot of this book, which seems to be the second book in a series, is that everyone is looking for a ruby. Said ruby absorbs all magicians' knowledge, so of course, whoever possess it, will have an amazing amount of knowledge, that is, magical strength.
The characters didn't engage me and the plot has been done many times before. Setting it all in a magical kingdom does little to lift the book up enough to be truly interesting.

Equally as good as the first!

Great storytelling here! I can't say anything to make this a better purchase for an avid reader of fantasy. A good edit for typos in both books would yield perfection. Beyond that, you're getting a great novel!

This is even better than the first book. Our friends troubles become more complicated. There appears to be no relief in sight. Terrible things happen and a few of the people we care about prevail. The only problem was this book needed a proofreader. Sentences occasionally contained extra words like a revised phrase wasn't correctly added or deleted. "There" vs "Their" happened once. It only takes a little thing to pull a reader out of a fine story.

Kindle lending library e-book. Loved book 1, wanted to see how it all ends.

The second in the series did not disappoint. The author tied up all the loose ends and still opened up an intriguing new plot line to keep me wanting more. Will be signing up for the newsletter and keeping my eye out for the next book.

I really enjoyed both this book. It was well written and engaging, with a setting just slightly different enough from most heroic fantasy to make it up interesting. There were, however, one or two points I felt that a better proofread could have been done, particularly when I saw a clearly anachronistic turn of phrase used in a descriptive moment, but overall these didn't hinder my enjoyment of the work.
