He had everything.
She had nothing.
All they wanted was each other.

Greer Madsen had a rough childhood. With an absent father and a careless mother, she was alone in the world from the moment she was born. But when her mom left for good, she wasn't just alone. She was homeless. Penniless. But never hopeless. Greer has clung to hope like a lifeline, letting it pull her through the darkest moments of her life until here she stands; under the bright lights of Broadway. Filled with raw, natural talent, she's making her mark on enraptured audiences. On famous directors.

On notorious rock stars.

Jace Ryker is one scandal away from losing everything. Terminally late with his newest album and floundering to find his sound, he's feeling frustrated and lost. When an onstage mishap brings his entire tour to a staggering halt, he's forced to stop and take stock of his life and career, asking himself what he really wants in life. It's a simple question without an easy answer.

Until he meets Greer.

Dissonance by Tracey Ward is a stand alone, beautiful, amazing romance that I could not put down. This is my second book by this author. The first one was Lawless that I raved about for weeks. Well, it’s going to happen again because this book deserves everything! This comes in either the steamy version or a clean version. I read the steamy one and the scenes were so beautifully written.

Greer Madsen is twenty years old. Her childhood was not a good one. Her mother abandoned her to a step father that she could not allow herself to be alone with. So she left at age thirteen and lived on the streets. Greer possesses that raw talent most only dream of for dance and voice. Her friend, Cam discovered her and they became fast friends. He helped her to train and prepare for her first Broadway audition where she scored a part. But now the production is going under and she’s not sure how much longer she’ll have a job. That’s when Jace enters her life!

Jace Ryker is twenty one years old. He started as a child star on TV and quickly went into being a music star. He now has five Grammy’s and a world famous rock band. But inside, Jace is falling apart. His publicist and manager are on him to work on a new album. Everyone wants something from him, but he feels nothing. After an on stage mishap that stunned the world, his career is teetering on the edge. He’s about to lose everything. Then, he meets her!

When they met for the first time, they both felt it. That magical, unexplainable thing. In Greer’s eyes, though, Jace has everything, and she has nothing. But their lives seem destined to come together. Greer doesn’t trust easily and she’s not sure if Jace will be able to earn her trust. And Jace has to figure out what he wants, who he is, and what will make him happy. Of one thing he is sure, that whatever he decides, he wants Greer to be a part of it.

“You bring out the worst in me, Jace Ryker.”
“And you bring out the best in me, Greer Madsen.”

Now I will say, Just Read This! Did I annoy my friends by messaging them about how in awe I was while reading this? Yes, Yes I did! The way this author makes me feel so much with her words just astounds me. I feel like I need to read every single thing she’s written. I’m pretty sure I know what I want to read next. So, stay tuned to see what it might be.

“There are no words for this.
There are no words for her.”

Tracey Ward is a magical writer. Her words feel effortless and she weaves a story of flawed characters that have me wanting more at the end of every chapter. I think what I love most about her writing is her ability to make me ‘feel’ in that moment. And that’s why we read, isn’t it? To be swept away by mesmerising words that take us to a different time and place. Dissonance took me there. One minute I’m laughing out loud at the witty banter, and the next my stomach is churning because I know, I know something is just around the corner…

Two things really stood out for me in reading Dissonance. Firstly, the story. Without giving too much away, I definitely relished in the fact this is not your average ‘rock star’ romance. The storyline is unique and captivating. Jace Ryker is the ultimate showman. Night after night he is up on stage in front of thousands of adoring fans, each wanting a piece of the man they think they know with the dark, demanding eyes. Greer Madsen belongs to the theatre as part of a struggling stage production. When their paths cross their chemistry is instant. The problem is, they come from completely different worlds and neither Jace nor Greer can risk their futures if all they have are stolen moments.

The second reason I couldn’t put Dissonance down were the characters. Tracey Ward has a way of creating beautifully flawed characters. Jace works hard and plays hard. He’s living the rock star dream. The problem is, Jace is lost in what that dream actually is.

Greer is a survivor. She has had to fight for every single thing in her life. It would be easy for her to wallow in self-pity, yet she does the opposite. She embraces life because she knows what it’s like to go without. Greer lives for every moment, sees the good in the world, and reminds us not to take anything for granted.

Dissonance is about taking a chance. Taking a chance on showing someone every part of your soul and opening your heart. Anyone who has ever loved with everything they have knows that true love makes you vulnerable. It’s hard, and sometimes there are so many obstacles, you’re left wondering if real love can actually survive. For Greer and Jace, they need to discover if they’re willing to take that risk. And this is exactly why I fell in love with these two characters. They’re real. They’re inspirational, and I have no doubt you’ll also fall for their slow-burn love.

Well Tracey Ward wrote it so there isn't anything bad I can find to say about it.
As usual her writing is great and her characters are real. They don't have unbelievable problems and humor. They're the kind of people you want to hang out with in RL.
Lately her characters have been getting more into the celebrity range so they have situations that most of us wouldn't have to deal with, but they are wrote in such a way that it's pretty hard to imagine it going any other way.
Greer is a Broadway actress and Jace is a Disney teen idol that's on the verge of losing his career.
How they're brought together is crazy. Their sudden attraction is wonderful. I mean who wouldn't want the celebrity guy they'd been fantasizing about since they were 16 to take an interest in them?
Their dynamic is prefect. Even when they're having problems it's perfect.
I loved the ending! It took a turn I didn't expect and then became even better.

I see by reading the other reviews that people like this kind of book. Well, not me.

Dirty books are not my thing. Had I known this book was going to be filled with dirty words and other things, it would have not been on my Kendle.

That's all I have to say on the subject.

What a fabulous book - Jace Ryker (think younger Justin Timberlake) is in a mess - his druggie dancer girlfriend decides to strip him literally of his fame while performing in front of his fans, mostly pre teens and teens with their parents in tow - Since he has been a PR nightmare for sometime this is kinda the last straw, dates are cancelled oh and his wanna be country star dad decides to sue him for royalties. His publicist and manager decide to get rid of everyone except his choreographer and have him do a show in his hometown of Emerson WA. Jace isn't too happy with the new no booze, drugs or women rules but he does go along with looking to Broadway for "professional" back up dancers for his one shot concert at home.
Greer Madsen and her roommate Cam Wallace perform together in a Broadway show that is doomed to close any day - Greer has Cam to thank for pulling her out of the gutter literally, he has taught her to be a Broadway singer and dancer through sheer will. When Jace hits town, he goes to 3 different shows to audition dancers, they are told to show up at the audition, but not tell anyone about it. Cam is selected and unbeknownst to him so is Greer.
Greer's first meeting with Jace is too adorable - their chemistry is felt as soon as they are in the same paragraph - The story is very well written and you can almost visualize it happening and the Epilogue is worth reading this book alone. A standing ovation!!

Favorite Quotes:
- Everything about her seems so breakable I can hardly breathe near her. I can hardly be, and still part of me wants to test her. I want to push her. I want to pull at her.

I want to bury myself inside her body and soul and see if I come out clean on the other side.
- I'm high on the hope of her.
- "You bring out the worst in me, Jace Ryker."

"And you bright out the best in me, Greer Madsen."
- Her on stage singing my words, dancing my choreography. That's the part that breaks me. The part that sends me into overdrive, desperate to be inside of her. To be her breath. To be her heartbeat. Dying to be her everything.

This is the story of Greer and Jace. Jace is a Disney popstar who is a little washed up and a little worn out. Greer is in the chorus of an off Broadway play with a runaway past. I liked this one. I don't usually do the rock star genre thing but in the end it had very little to do with that. It was a quick read not my favorite of Tracey's but still so well written. It also has more sex scenes in it than what we're used to from Tracey but they are well written so I didn't mind..

Loved it.

Though I wish there was more background story on the main characters' past ,especially Greer. The author does explain it, but I was wishing for more of a flashback or something.

Jace is rockstar whose reputation has taken a hit due to some recent incidents, His management decides he needs to do a show in his home town to bring his image back on track. Grier is a dancer who is in a show that is about to close. Her and her roommate Cam get hired to dance for Jace’s show, Jace and Grier are instantly attracted to each other and start seeing each other secretly.

Jace and Grier are both like able and relatable characters. Their banter and the banter with the side characters was fun and made me laugh. They both have big decisions to make about their lives and their relationship. There is no cheating and not much angst, just a really fun romance.

The narrator did a good job, although since the story is told in dual POV, I do wish there was a male narrator or at least the narrator tried to change her voice for Jace’s chapters, but it wasn’t a big deal, I got used to it.

I have enjoyed a lot in of Tracey books over the years. One thing I always love about her books is the characters back and forth chit chat. The sarcasm, passive aggressiveness, the quick wit jokes, and the basic chatter between two normal characters. Well that’s what I liked about Greer and Jayce. There sexual tension was hidden behind their quick banter between each other. This is your Justin Bieber meets the likes of Ariana Grande and I’m a big fan of hers not so much of Justin but that’s the character Jayce reminds me of. Anyway great story and must read by Tracey.

Good read

It was an easy and engaging read that I finished in a day. It had an interesting storyline. I didn't really get into Jace but I guess he was written as an indifferent character so there wasn't much depth to him even though he seemed to have a detailed back story.

Sweet story. I liked that though it's a Cinderella type story it's set up in a way that doesn't make it unbelievable. Jace doesn't spot Greer on the street and become mesmerized. She's worked hard to get where she is and that's where he notices her. There aren't a bunch of odd coincidences, which is something that drives me crazy in stories like this. This one I would have loved to keep reading. I'd love to know more about Jace's relationship with his dad, and if he really sees it as it is. I'd love to know more about Greer and Cam when they first met. I started to slow my reading pace toward the end, hoping to make it last just a little longer. This is the first book I've read by Tracey Ward, but I'm going to go see which one I get next.

She snuck this hit in!

I was captured from page one! Stumbled upon this book and it's not the typical rockstar romance. There is a depth to each character and the supporting characters are just as interesting. I hope there are more coming from this group. One-click quick!
