HER HEART BELONGS TO ANOTHER
Betrothed to a title, as opposed to a man, Lady Florence Beatrice Wilfred reconciles herself to an awkward union with a childhood friend. Haunted by tragedy, which ripped her true love from her arms, she is content to honor the agreement negotiated by her father. But her world is again turned upside down, when her one-time fiancé makes a sudden and stunning return to London society and states, in no uncertain terms, he wants her. Given his violent past, can she trust him?

HE WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET HER BACK
Known throughout the seafaring ranks as The Iron Corsair, Lord Barrington Nicholas Peregrine Howe, Marquess of Ravenwood, stands accused of a heinous crime he swears he did not commit. After years on the run, sailing the ocean as a ruthless pirate, a chance at redemption and a full pardon offers him the opportunity to clear his name and regain all he lost, including the woman he loves, but an unknown and dangerous enemy lurks in the shadows. Can Barrington find the villain before history repeats itself?

Barbara Devlin was born a storyteller. A Texan, through and through, Barbara hasn’t been without a book in her possession since she was in kindergarten. She wrote her first short story, a really cheesy murder-mystery, in high school, but it was a Christmas gift, a lovely little diary with a bronze lock, given to her in the fifth grade that truly inspired her love for writing.

After completing part of her undergraduate studies at the University of London, Barbara returned home and began a career in banking. But the late 80’s weren’t too promising for the financial industry, and every bank that hired Barbara soon folded. So she searched for a stable occupation, and the local police department offered the answer to her prayers.

Initially, Barbara wasn’t too sure about her new chosen career in law enforcement, but she soon came to love being a police officer. However, on an uncharacteristically cold and icy day in December 1998, Barbara was struck by a car and pinned against a guardrail while working an accident on a major highway. Permanently disabled, she retired from the police department and devoted her time and energy to physical therapy.

Once Barbara got back on her feet, she focused on a new career in academia. She earned an MA in English, continued on a course of study for a Doctorate in Literature and Rhetoric, started writing historical fiction in her spare time, and completed five full-length novels featuring her fictional knighthood, the Brethren of the Coast. Book six is currently in the works.

Love for a lifetime!!!

Its no secret that I adore the brethren and now I am falling for the pirates just as hard!! Its so nice to see Lord Barrington find a chance at redemption and take a lady!! Lady Florence is hard not to love and deserves a chance at love since she was so haunted by a tragic past that left her without her true love. Will she find love with Lord Barrington and will he get a chance at redemption or will they both be left alone and miserable while history repeats itself?

Eagerly Await each new book

Started with The Brethren of the Coast and have continued on to this most recent book...can't get enough...I'm not usually one for rereading or keeping books, but these for the bill for both!!

The Iron Corsair

Fair. But still not her best writing. The story line is ok. Still 3 stars is more than this series deserves. Devin has written much better books and I am disappointed in these books. Only takes a couple of hours to read. She can cross me off her fan club.

Great

Barrington and Florence had an interesting story. I enjoyed the characters and the plot. I did miss more of Barrington being a pirate. I think this was a good quick read and I will be reading the next book in the story.

A rather tame Corsair

The many characters were a bit confusing and I assume the cause was not reading the first book. Most of the story was a bit obvious.

Great book

As always another great story. It has mystery, romance, and pirates. Just a great story. I started reading and didn't put it do w n until I was done.

These books are fine for a quick, easy read. I would describe them as relatively well-written, but clearly not professionally edited. Most are rife with typos and malapropisms. I've almost given up because of Devlin's constant incorrect usage of the phrase "needs must". She uses her version multiple times in each book, and writes "must needs". Must needs? I've searched online for any reference to a reversal of the common idiom--in case it was regional or historical but uncommon--and her writing is the only usage. It's simply incorrect. I understood from her bio that she is a literature professor? Perhaps it's time to hire an editor? Needs must...

Ok.

This second book in the author's pirate series is nowhere near as good as the first book. The plot is a rather old one and the story was a little boring. I believe Barbara Devlin to be a decent writer and usually has more excitement in her stories....this is bland by comparison. Not one I would recommend to another to show her talent.
