Three million dollars will get computer guru CJ LeClair’s business off the ground, but it’ll take more than his usual T-shirt and faded jeans to convince a venture capitalist to fund his project. He’s written small-business software to bring order out of paper-based chaos, but without money, he won’t get to market.
Menswear designer Rory Patterson can rescue CJ from his fashion disasters, but Rory’s in need of some rescue himself. His business office is in shambles, exactly the problem CJ’s accounting system can solve.
Rory trades attire for organization, an arrangement that works for both him and CJ. What doesn’t work is keeping their hands off each other. They need to avoid a conflict of interest when a big investor requires a demonstration of CJ’s system. If the investor thinks they’re an item, CJ can kiss his funding goodbye.
Two men. Two businesses. Three million bucks. And one helluva fine suit. Something has to come off.
Devyn Morgan is a contemporary man with a love of contemporary romance! He grew up in several different states due to his parents' careers, which instilled in him a love of travel and seeing new places. After finishing college, he traveled around the globe for two years in search of romance, experiences, and adventures. In that time, he came up with more story ideas than he could ever use, so he started to write gay fiction.
He currently lives in the eastern US with his partner and a dog, but he still considers himself a free spirit.
This book gets a definite five, not for any exceptional writing style though the story is well written but for lack of any manufactured unnecessary high drama between the two main characters CJ & Rory.
There is external chaos of course but the book excels at portraying what a couple can truly achieve if they are not constantly at cross purposes, busy snarling at each others throats for childish misunderstandings or indulging in inhumanly copious amounts of sex every second of the day that would leave an average human being limping for days or unable to remained seated.
I was expecting something more from this book. Maybe if I had seen how long it was before I requested a copy then I wouldn’t have. This is a short book. I read it in one sitting and my grandmother didn’t even realize I was missing.
The basic plot is two men want each other for purely physical reasons, but they are not allowed to have each other, because of a super nosey investor. There is no reason that these men feel any attraction. They were very easily traded out for any other man in a romance novel. There was a lot of told sexual tension, but it didn’t really make the page steam or feel natural. Somehow their physical attraction meant that there was romantic attraction and they pined away for each other for a whole month, oh no.
The boys were cute, the idea was cute, the book is pure fluff. The only conflict was with someone else and was resolved very easily. Everything wrapped up nicely. It was too smooth. The sex was also pretty tame. I get even more annoyed when male authors write M/M sex scenes and get them wrong. The boys suddenly needed a condom for penetration, but they had both willingly swallowed. There is no reason for a condom at this point. If either of them had STDs they would have already shared them by then. I was impressed that there was stretching on page and talk of lube. That is so rare. If the condom piece had been consistent, then I could have looked past the plain sex and the amazing detail that was given to their testicles. I never needed or wanted that much detail, but it was different from other M/M romances I have read.
There isn’t anything that grabbed me. It wasn’t funny, it wasn’t angsty, it wasn’t unique. It was nice, gentle, and fun. So if you are in the market for some fluff, which I have to admit sometimes I am, then this would be a great book for that. There is nothing that would set anyone off. There was also no real excitement. I was thankfully in the mood for something light and easy, so I enjoyed myself. It just ins’t a book I would recommend to people unless they specifically said they wanted fluff.
I read this book as part of an arc program. I loved this story. I loved how they had a friendship and got to know one another before they began a relationship. CJ was looking for investors in his invention that would help small businesses keep their books and track their inventory when he arrived at a business function overdressed and about to have a wardrobe malfunction. Rory sees this and takes him into the men's room where he saves the day and tailors CJ's tux to make it look better. They exchange business cards and looks. They are both attracted to each other, but they ever got the chance to act on it. CJ manages to get a meeting with an investor and needs a business to prove his invention works. CJ calls Rory and asks if he can help him with the investors and Rory thinks it is the answer to his prayers. Rory owns his own tailor shop and his bookkeeper just left on maternity leave, leaving Rory with a mess of his books. CJ offers to fix his books and they both want more, but when their relationship is called into question, they have to stay professional because the investor doesn't want the results of the trial to be tainted. So, they remain friends, but Rory decides to make CJ a suit as thanks for fixing his books. I loved this story. I loved how they had great chemistry. Great story.
This is a intriguing book with a interesting story-line & plot. The characters are well developed and complex. There is enough drama, intrigue, verbal conflict, friendship, attractions, deceit, trust, some humor, sexual tension, lust, passion, love and a steamy scene to keep the readers interest. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and really would recommend it. “I received a complimentary copy, so I could give my honest opinion”
Another good short and sweet Devyn story. Could use a wee bit of tweaking to make it smoother. This is an interesting story of how one person steps up to help a stranger in need. Do take the time to read this.
Rory and CJ are just too cute for words and this story was short and sweet and I loved it and for them to fight for what they want his brave. How they meet was pretty funny and too see how they interact is sweet and I just loved it
This was a delightfully sweet romance about Rory a tailor and CJ a computer nerd. CJ is trying to get funding for a computer program he is trying to get on the market and Rory is the one he chooses to use as his "sample" businessman. Rory is the perfect choice as he is a terrible businessman but one of the best tailors for high end custom made suits around which CJ needs as he hasn't a clue about style or clothes. CJ finds an investor but is sabotaged by an old enemy from college who works at the investment firm. Rory and CJ find each other irresistible but can't do anything about it without compromising CJ's work. Follow these two as they find love, happiness, lust, treachery, trickery and hot gay sex. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
This is a hard book to rate if I am honest. It took me a while to get into this story, I just couldn't feel anything about either of the main characters, and then, suddenly I realised I was enjoying the story and I wanted to know that all ended well for both CJ and Rory. The second half of the book was easy to read and by then I cared about the welfare and happiness of both men and was really pleased when things worked out for them. 3 stars overall, as I went from a bored 2 stars, to at least 3.5 by the end. I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest, balanced review.
CJ and Rory are fun characters. CJ is up and coming software designer and Rory is a high-class tailor. I liked the characters because they were real. Their interactions with each other are not fake. The reader could see it happen in real life. I think Devyn created once more excellent characters. The passion was there for them definitely. It was a fast read for me. I voluntarily received an ARC of this book and have given an honest review.
Devyn Morgan sure can write a lovely love story. The protagonists are adorable as they grow from early attraction to love, all villains are vanquished, and virtue reigns triumphant in the end!
This is totally entertaining and engaging. The characters are lovable and realistic. This story is amusing and touching. You find yourself pulling for them and their relationship. Absolutely loved it!
