Coffee addled, twitter addicted, A disabled romance author based in the UK, Stefanie Simpson has written multiple contemporary romances as well as fantasy romance.
Most of her work contains angst, healing and conflict. Expect strong adult content and themes, language, explicit material, love and a HEA.
I have read the majority of Stefanie Simpson's published works. I have, and I can say this with complete honest, loved every single one of them. Sometimes it's a quiet love, or it's a love that reaches myself because I saw something of me in the story, but they have all dragged me into the depths of complete and utter adoration for the world that Simpson creates.
I was not ready for Suzy Martin and Nathan Maxwell. This book equal parts broke my heart and mended it. Suzy is this beautiful, flawed, viscerally real person and Nate shows so much vulnerability in searching not only to find himself but to hold onto this bond that grows between Suzy and himself. There were times this romance literally took my breath away, and these two characters were so deeply just real.
I can't even describe it well. I'm left speechless in the best of ways.
This book was amazing! Full disclosure: I'm a romance fanatic and a huge fan of Stefanie Simpson, so I will read anything she ever puts out...and oh my gosh, this book is everything! Admittedly, I'm not someone who has ever read about a fem-dom romance before. The topic never interested me, but as soon as I started reading this book, I couldn't get enough.
Suzy is a successful young professional who can't seem to find a man who's compatible with her sexual interests. Frustrating to say the least! That is until she meets her new temporary boss, Nathan. Turns out he's super sexy, smart, sweet, funny and DTF exactly how she likes it. What follows is an exciting, hot, wrenching, and satisfying journey for the both of them. I don't want to give anything away, but this story is a rollercoaster ride of emotions in the best possible way! And the sex scenes...oh dear golly, they are very hot, and very, very satisfying! The author doesn't skimp on the details and is a master at creating vivid images in those scenes. And she takes her time with each love scene, which makes for an incredibly satisfying read!
The author does an amazing job of getting into the heads of the two main characters. You fall in love with them, hurt with them, cry with them, root for them, and get all hot and bothered with them ;) I am head over heels for this New City Series! Can't wait for the next book!!
This the third installment in Simpson's New City Series, and in my opinion, the strongest so far. The intense emotional bond between Suzy and Nathan felt the most complex of the series and was tied into their sexual relationship in a way that enforced it and gave it more depth.
It was also nice to have a love interest, Nathan, who is not the typical brooding loner. There was no hate-to-love journey for either character, and honestly, that was the biggest appeal for me. They start the relationship off on the same footing, with clearly defined boundaries and an understanding of what each of them want. The romantic tension is still there, but it's less confrontational than The Way Home or A Good Night's Sleep were, which was a nice change of pace.
As with her previous novels, Simpson does not shy away from tackling difficult subject matter, but addresses the issues raised in a manner that shows compassion, strength and genuine empathy. This is a story about healing.
Dominant leading lady! Submitting to a woman never occurred to Nathan, and I was pleasantly surprised how sweet and steamy these two characters are. Nathan’s backstory is heartbreaking. Suzy’s is infuriating. And, trying to get them both to work through their past and come together was a couple is frustratingly entertaining. As always, Simpson’s characters are well developed. I love how each of her stories intertwines with the others, allowing you to meet all the characters and see how they fit together as well as separately in the New City world. I can’t put down her romances, be it this series, or her freebies on Wattpad. I’m now a romance reader thanks to Stef! Thanks for sharing this series with me! I highly recommend it.
This book was great. I loved how Suzy and Nathan came together. They were so suited and I enjoyed how her dominance was woven in as a normal aspect of their relationship. There was nothing "deviant," "shameful," or "bad" about it. It was just an aspect of how they loved each other. Her friends were all FANTASTIC!
Wish I could find more F/m books by this author and other's, frankly.
I loved this. The femdom content was great, it had some angst and the romance was believable. One interesting thing I noticed is that almost all the sex scenes were from his POV until late in the book she submitted and he dominated. On the one hand it was probably meant to show her growth and comfort in the relationship but on the other I think it might have been nice to experience the POV of the dominant person? Anyways I’m quite enjoying this author.
This was my first experience reading an erotic romance tale where the female is in the more dominant position. Simpson writes with compassion as well as a flair for what is enticing and what would draw two people together. Bravo.
Well now, it appears I have a new favourite Stefanie Simpson book. This novel was intense and incredible all the way through. An erotic romance with the most wholesome kind of kink, ringing with an enticing emotional authenticity. Just perfect.
