I've climbed my way to the top. Now it's your turn, baby.

I’m filthy rich. They call me a genius on the front page of the business newspapers, and you’re just as likely to see my face on the tabloids.

I used to love it all. The spotlight, the women, the glamor. But it was getting old.

That’s when Emily sashayed her way into my life. With her long legs and full hips, my reaction was primal and instantaneous. I wanted to rip her clothes off, pin her down and feel those curves writhing under me.

I had to have her. And I’m a man who gets what he wants.

But one split second changed everything.

Now a man lies six feet under, and everything is upside down. A deadly secret stands between Emily and me. I’ll lose everything I’ve worked so hard for if I get any closer to her.

So I swore to keep my dirty paws off her. For her own good.

But when she looks at me with those big blue eyes so full of pent-up desire, those luscious lips tempting me to have a taste, all my good intentions go out the window.

I want nothing more than to break all the rules and make her mine.

Note: This is a full-length standalone novel with a guaranteed happily ever after. No cheating, no cliffhanger.

This was a great debut novel. I really enjoyed Nikki's writing style.

This was a story was so much more than falling in love again after personal tragedy but, also allowing yourself to heal and get over guilt that consumes your every waking second.

Emily lost the love of her entire life and is trying to live again with the help of her sister when during a another job interview that she's sure she will fail she meets Cole.

The second Cole sees Emily he knows he's going to hire her even though it's not for the best. He tries his hardest to suppress his feelings for her but, during a business trip together he's not sure his will power will last. He's holding onto a life changing secret that if found out will impact everyone around him, including Emily.

This book twists and turns that kept your interest peeked wanting to find out about Cole and his secrets. His only concern was keeping Emily safe. It was a sweet quick novel.

I was given this book to read by the author for my honest opinion...this is the first book of Nikki Chases's that I have read. I finished reading this early this am this story had me wanting to know what was going to happen next! I will say that it did take me a couple of chapters to actually really get into the story and figure out what had and was happening...we meet Emily who is struggling trying to get her life back, to feel happy and have a purpose. We know something happened to Emily but initially we do not know what that is...then there is Cole who is handsome, rich, sexy and the CEO of his hotel hospitality company who also has some secrets of his own. He is struggling with what haunts him..that dark rainy night that changed his and Emily's life forever! no matter how hard he tried he is drawn to her and can not stay away! Emily is attracted to Cole as well! This book has mystery, love, tears, laughter and some sexy moments! I really enjoyed this book, her first book and I wish to thank Nikki Chase for giving me the opportunity to read it in advance of its release. I look forward to reading other works of hers as they are published.

Received an early copy for review.

Nikki Chase is a phenomenal writer. I am obsessing over Guilty and I wish there more to it. I was ready to give this book a full on 5 star rating, but I had to pull back think. I'm giving this 4 stars because I really REALLY wish there was more to the story between Cole and Emily. Everything had so fast between them that I was trying to piece it all together and then BAM they are a couple and the connection between them starts to come forth and I was just wanting more...so much more. I truly wish this was duology or even a trilogy -- it was that good.

Emily was a sweet girl. She was quite and reserved. I felt like she was a push over when the girls started giving her all the work, but she took it in strides and had the opportunity of a life time. I loved the sass she showed towards the end of the book, I wish she showed more of it throughout the book. Emily did have a wild side that I enjoyed seeing because it just made her seem out of place in a cute way. Loved her character.

Cole was a hot man from start to finish for me. He was dealt a shitty hand in regards to his past with Emily and his father. Cole was strong, dominating and loving. He was tender with his love for Emily. Cole tried so hard to not be like his father, but in trying so hard he did exhibit some parts of his father -- he tried to control things instead of asking Emily how she felt. Cole is a strong man.

The romance was quick and fast. You know from the start that there is a connection between Cole and Emily, but you're not sure what it is. When the connection is revealed I was blown away and really wanted more of a backstory and how Cole fell in love with her. Even so, Cole and Emily were absolutely cute together. I think they were meant to be considering how they initially met. I think it was all supposed to happen to bring Emily more joy in her life.

That ending was perfect, both the last chapter and epilogue. I still wanted way more background on Scott and the accident, but things played out good. Think this is the perfect read if you're looking for a quick read or even a book to get you through a book hangover. I definitely will be reading more from Nikki Chase.

A Review of Guilty by Nikki Chase

The road to happiness is sometimes bumpy - 5 stars

I have to admit, it was a little hard to follow this story at first. There were a couple of scenes, then it is suddenly 18 months later. She applies for a job with Foster Hotels, where Cole does the interview himself, which is totally out of character. It is obvious that he knows her, but she doesn't know him, does she? At this point, we know that something terrible has happened and we believe it was her that it happened to. Cole hires her for the job and then we don't see anything else from either of them for another 6 months.

When Emily finally learns the truth that Cole has been hiding from her, will she be able to forgive him? As Cole finally looks at things from her point of view and realizes that he is acting like his father, will he be able to pull back and let Emily go when she asks him to? This is a story about love, lies, forgiveness and fate stepping in to right the wrongs of the past and learning to let go. Definitely worth the time to read!

I'm going to say the same thing I told the author. It's got a surprise twist in the middle that, even though you see a shadow of it, you aren't really sure it's going to go that direction. I like the relationship conflicts between Cole and his father, the way he dislikes his father but sees his face every time he looks in the mirror, some of the other things that I don't want to mention because I don't want to give anything away. The relationship between Emily and Cole after the fact is unpredictable and seems impossible, but it works even when it doesn't. There's a lot of feels in this story, and I think it has a lot of potential. I loved the ending, and of course the way they had trouble keeping their hands off of each other was a bonus.

That being said, there were some editing issues and some other things that could be improved. Anything with sexual content has to be handled in a particular way, but I believe she is on the right road. I think once those issues are addressed, this is going to be a fantastic story. I gave it a higher score, because I can see the potential. I liked it.

If this first book is any indication of what we can expect from Nikki Chase, then I definitely want more! I don't want to give spoilers, so I'll just say that the prologue sucked me right in and I was hooked. I love the writing style and other than a few minor grammatical errors (hopefully corrected before release) I can't find any fault with this one. The character development is good, and the story flows so well. I did guess Cole's secret, but the twist at the end with his father was great. I can't wait to see what Chase has in store for us next.

Story of Cole, the son of a former mafia guy turned legit. He's created a multi-million dollar legal hotel empire. Emily is hired to help, and he doesn't want her because it turns out Cole knows who she is. Despite his involvement in an accident that killed her boyfriend 2 years ago, Cole decides to assuage his guilt and hire Emily. He falls for her, but continues to lie. As does everyone else in this book.

We met Cole's brother, Caine, in Stripped and he makes an appearance here, but I bet he's got his own book coming.

EDITED TO ADD: Overall this was a much better story and has better writing than Stripped.

I always enter into reading a new romance/erotica author with fear and trepidation. There are some gems out there, some well known. But there is so much awfulness - and anyone who reads this genre knows of what I speak.

So I consider it a personal victory when I find an author I enjoy so much I buy all the rest of their books. This is one of them. This was a good, solid read.

Now don't get me wrong. This isn't a five star book. But it was good. Here are some of the things I disliked about it:

1st person - I despise this. Seriously. There are some books and stories where 1st person is called for. But usually it isn't, and every erotica/romance author out there seems to think 1st person is the way to go after a certain un-named series that really took off. Unfortunately it ends up with me bonding with the narrating character and no one else because I never see how they view things, or if the viewpoint is switched as it is here, it suffers from transition issues. But I knew going into it that it was in 1st person so I can't harp on this too much. Well, as you can see I can - but I can't berate the author on it. The author did a good job on the 1st person - as good a job as you can.

Predictable and dull areas - there were some. There weren't many, but I did find myself skimming a few times. Particularly near the end. This is what dropped the review from a five star to a four star. To get a five star I should be grabbing for every word, every line, ever minute interaction. I should be waiting in breathless anticipation for what happens next. I wasn't.

Unrealistic interactions - there were some interactions between the characters that were unrealistic enough to make me roll my eyes. Don't get me wrong, I love fantasy and imagination in my reading - but there is a fine line between fiction and unbelievability. This line was crossed a few times. Especially at the end, where the wrap-up was done quickly and clumsily - like she was going for a certain word count for the novel (which was a good length by the way!) and realized she met her word count and went "Welp! All done! Everyone lives happily ever after! Next novel!"

But it was a good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was sappy, sweet, and had surprises in it.

I was actually left surprised at the author's good uses of plot twists. Usually plot twists in a romance novel are predictable. They may be pleasant and stimulating, but they are predictable. I legitimately did not know where the author was going with some of these twists. I enjoyed that, it was very refreshing.

Transitions, viewpoints, descriptions all done very well. Rarely was I jarred me out of the story. Especially with a 1st person viewpoint, which I have already established I hate, this is rare. The few times I was jarred out of the story was due to character interactions being so unrealistic I eyerolled. Usually viewpoint transitions or overly dramatic descriptions will hang me up and pull me out of the story, but they were very well done here.

Character progression! I always get excited when I find good character progression in a romance, because you don't get it too often. But it is here! On both the male and female leads, there is a healthy amount of character progression - it is nice to see them both grow as individuals.

All in all, this was a very enjoyable read. So much so I bought out the author, and look forward to reading her other books. Highly recommended.

Emily trying to overcome the tragedy of losing her boyfriend, gets a recommendation for a job at Foster Hotels, shes been through many job interviews since her boyfriends untimely death in the last 18 months, with no success so when she meets with Cole Foster himself for the entry-level marketing position and gets the position during the interview she surprised and happy that her life just might be turning around, but unfortunately the past will rear it's ugly head and secrets will surface, getting past that may be more than she can handle.
What a great story! Emily and Cole's story was full of emotional heart string tugging moments, with mixture of flirtatious humor and a copious amounts sexual heat and plenty of romance I found myself not wanting this book to end, the special relationship that develops between Cole and Emily is great, you can feel the connection between them. When I got to the end I was reminded this is a debut novel by this author, honestly this IMO is a excellent start!
I am really looking forward to what NIkki Chase creates for us next.

I received a copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed this book.

It is a very good story and I would actually give it 4.5 stars but I don't want to drag down this very promising author's rating by giving it 4 stars (there were some editing issues). The two main characters (Emily and Cole) are given such a tremendous story with all the obstacles that they must overcome. This story (even though it is short) is pretty well packed with omissions (because I won't say they were outright lies), threats, angst, and a hero that will do anything to keep his girl safe and protected. Granted I did think that they hit the mattress a little too quickly (on Emily's side of the story) but everything needed to move quickly to get the whole story told. The story started out like every other rich guy sees and lusts after girl but morphed into a story of a guy tortured by his past and trying to atone for his mistakes. I signed up to get the bonus chapter - which I hope is included in the release - and I have to say Linda needs her own book. Grab a copy and enjoy!

This book had an interesting secret and one that you don’t know about until later on in the story. It was gripping and suspenseful because I had to know why Cole was the way he was with Emily.
Cole is the CEO of Foster Hotels and makes it his mission to ire Emily as a junior marketer. Emily thinks that her lucks in and she’s extremely grateful for the job especially after the time Emily has had recently. She lost the love of her life in a car accident and is finding it hard to carry on but she sees this job as her new start.
There’s an attraction between Cole and Emily from the start but Emily believes that it’s one sided on her part. She has noticed though that he is surprisingly nicer to her than everyone else but the gossip in the office is that he is in a relationship with someone else. You know how office gossip goes, obviously it’s not true and Cole and Emily do after quite some time, give in to their desires.
I really enjoyed this book and I’m sure you will too. Definitely worth reading.

This was an ARC I requested to review.

Guilt makes people do all kinds of different things. Emily survived a tragic accident but has guilt over the circumstances. Cole has guilt about lying to Emily for just about everything. When he hires her to work at his hotel, he had no intentions to get involved, but there was always a pull. When they end up going to a conference together, their relationship evolves.

Will Cole 'man up" and tell Emily his secret before someone else does? Will learning the truth spin them away from each other? Will each of their consuming "guilt" be rectified for them to have a HEA? This is a story of loss, worth and love and believing that all things happen for a reason.

5 Mega Stars

I was given this book for my honest review.

This is the first time I have read anything by this author so really all I can say is AMAZING. The blurb does not do this book justice by far. If you're looking for a little bit of everything from hotness to mystery with a bit of everything else then you surely have the right book. If your afraid of the unknown then this book is not for you. The unknown is what makes this book AMAZING.

The hotness of one bewilders the mind but when it combusts watch out the only thing you need to do is stand back and watch as the combustion becomes of awe.

Amazing.

Major Kudos

Happy Reading

Thrilling drama, ingeniously crafted! The prologue is a scenario that leaves you with curiosity and questions. Who is this? Why? How? Where? What? When? The answers will come but slowly as the story of Emily & Cole unfolds. The reader is fed tidbits, crumbs along the way that stimulate speculations and tempts one to fit the pieces together. Hints of secrets, nefarious plans, suspected lies. Amidst all the swirling intrigue, heartfelt feelings tug at the emotions and steam up the e-reader. 4*
Emily was involved in an accident which killed her boyfriend before he had chance to propose. She's been out of work since however she gets hired by Cole to work for his families business. Is there more to this than she knows? Secrets have a habit of coming out.
So many things are against them.
Another new author for me.

This one has a realness to it in that it talks about the problems created by secrets. These two really want each other but their secrets almost tear them apart. The story moves at a slower pace at some points but I think it works for the storyline. It has interesting characters and the author spends time developing them so you can understand their choices and actions better.

Guilty was a great story, and a refreshing difference from other bad boy billionaire romances. The story starts off fast and pulls you in right away.

The connection between Cole and Emily is electric and, although you could tell they had some kind of encounter in the past, I didn't expect it to be what was revealed...

I really enjoyed this story and the characters. I received an ARC of this book, but enjoyed it so much, I had to buy a copy.

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** Very good debut novel from Nikki Chase. Loved the storyline n characters except maybe Mr. Foster bc of his overly obsessive control. Would've liked to see maybe some more flashback memories of Emily's life w/ Scott before the accident but otherwise still enjoyed the story as is.

Cole feels guilty for the way Em is feeling. He offers her a job at his hotels corporate offices. What he does not expect to Don is fall in love with the 1 person in the world he is not suppose to fall in love with. Will he give up everything for her love? Will she forgive him for keeping a secret from her?

This book will definitely keep you turning the pages into the night. The story of Cole and Emily is a tragic story that evolves into an electric attraction that even a meddling father cannot interfere with. This author has fast become one of my favourites for the storylines she waves that are both believable and interesting. A brilliant five star read.
