Featuring Anthony Ryan's novella "The Lady Of Crows", Grimdark Magazine #10 is full to the brim with action, revenge and espionage.
This issue also includes a writers' workshop on worldbuilding written by Jesse Bullington (Alex Marshall), Matthew Cropley's opinion on where the grimdark genre is going, interviews with John Gynne and Deborah A. Wolf, and reviews of Brian Lee Durfee's The Forgetting Moon and Michael R. Fletcher's The Mirror's Truth.
This is Derla's story, who we know briefly from Blood Song, when King Janus met with her and Vaelin.
We get to know how she became Janus' tool and spy, and also who helped Frentis flee to the Sixth Order to escape One Eye's retribution.
But the story is about her meeting young drukard Mustor, and I must say, I love both characters for their wit. It's a great tale and it would a pity to skip it.
Another triumph from the boys and gals at GdM. Only one piece of fiction in this article, but its a great one from Anthony Ryan. Great interviews and articles as usual. I'm becoming obsessed with all things Jesse Bullington (aka Alex Marshall) lately, and his article on worldbuilding was my favorite from this issue.
