Gaynor Torrance lives near Cardiff with her husband and their rescue cat, Cleo. The area is the setting for her Detective Inspector Jemima Huxley Crime Thriller series of books. Like Gaynor, Jemima has a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Though, apart from them both having a keen interest in human behaviour, that’s where any similarity ends.

When she’s not writing or glued to her Kindle, Gaynor enjoys listening to music, playing the piano, walking, travelling, and eating far too much chocolate.

I really enjoyed the story and the fast pace of action as it I zoomed through the pages. One day Meghan was the woman who had everything, the next her life collapsed around her. She went from a spoiled and well looked after woman to a determined and focused mother, as she took care of her son's wellbeing. I think Torrance has a great international story here and told both sides of the Atlantic sides well.
It did take me a few chapters to settle into, because there are a lot of threads that needed to be woven together, but apart from that, I recommend this to any lovers of thriller books.

I’d had Step Up Or Die on my kindle for a little while and due to unforeseen circumstances I didn’t get round to reading it as soon as I would have liked, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down.
The story starts at a fast pace with a number of catastrophic events taking place globally. I seemed to whizz through these chapters, practically holding my breath at some points at the monstrosities that were occurring. We’re talking cybercrime, murder and espionage that quite literally have your eyes popping out.
The story then focuses on Meghan Dawson, daughter of US senator, Chuck Fellowes and wife to multi millionaire Russell Dawson. I’ll be completely honest here and say I did not like Meghan one little bit to start with. She came across as a spoilt little brat and I felt myself wanting to reach in and give her a slap or a good shake. Then as the story unfolds you get to see there’s more to Meghan’s character and I really found myself urging her on and hoping for the best.
I’m not going to go into detail about the plot but I will say it keeps you on the edge of your seat, it’s fast paced with lots of twists and turns. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this psychological thriller with it’s uniqueness. It was like a jigsaw puzzle, you have all the pieces in front of you that you slowly manage to fit together and at the end you feel satisfied all the pieces are now in place.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written international thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great international thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

If you like a tense psychological drama crossed with a superbly crafted 'whodunnit' this is definitely the book for you.
The panorama is vast. The opening chapters are delivered at breakneck speed, global events unfold hinting at the possibility of imminent Armageddon.
The action then focuses upon the family of a successful American politician.
I don't want to give too much away but the characters are finely crafted and they develop as they respond to unfolding and shocking events.
This novel would adapt well to the big screen. The conclusion is cinematic and deeply satisfying.
Perhaps most brilliantly this book captures the mood of the times. With surprises such as Brexit and Trump the author has tapped into current concerns and written a cracking book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tense, psychological thriller, which has a focus on political intrigue, espionage, and murder. I found the main characters to be believable, and likely to promote an emotional response from the reader. The pace of the action is fast from the word go, with a global context, and the story developing mainly in New York, Toronto, and London. The finale is gripping, and I was left guessing right until the end as to what the outcome would be. This is a well-crafted plot, tapping into contemporary concerns surrounding international terrorism and the dark web. An enjoyable and satisfying read.
