June was born in June and she always loved the moon. Born and raised in Slovenia, she studied economics, and quickly realised she hated it.

However, later she found herself working in mainly male-dominated businesses. She can choose the best steel for your project, but don't, please don't, ask her which lipstick brand you should use.

Although her writing was constantly criticised by her teacher that didn't stop her. Under different pen names, she had stories published in magazines, and then went on to publish three books under pen name Eri Krt.

After having two children, and learning that her second child has autism, she married their father and carried on working. Work and family life left her with little free time. But the desire to write didn't die.

Always looking for something new, she challenged herself to write a novel in English and all her three novels:

All that the Heart Desires
Caught Between Two Worlds
and her latest novel - publication scheduled for 1st May 2018:
At the End of the Summer

are a result of that continuous challenge …

I'm struggling to make my mind up about this book.

On one hand, this is probably the most intriguing take on the Kidnapped By A Sheikh trope I've ever seen - the heroine turns out to be his Seekrit Daughter and falls in love with his bodyguard, of which the sheikh is surprisingly approving - but on the other, I never really bought into the romance between Veronica and Nicholas.

On one hand, Islamic culture is treated with great respect and in careful detail, and on the other (this is an actual quote from the book) "He looked typically Egyptian and that meant if I ever saw him again, I was sure I wouldn't recognise him". Wow. Way to imply that All Brown People Look The Same To White Eyes.

On one hand, the author writes marvelously descriptive paragraphs lavishly detailing the scenery in every location the heroine finds herself - and on the other, I still don't know what Veronica actually did for a job before she went on her adventure. Even though the book is told in first-person from Veronica's PoV, we never find out that detail about her. We never really get to KNOW her.

On one hand, I admired Veronica's pluck and determination in standing up to the sheikh's nasty bitch of a second wife who was determined to be rid of her - and on the other, I wanted to grab her and shake her and ask why she wasn't more forceful in demanding answers?

Talking of answers, there were a hell of a lot of questions left unanswered in this book. At one point fairly early on, a young woman is murdered and Veronica is briefly blamed. She is quickly absolved... but the murder is never mentioned again and absolutely no attempt seems to be made to solve it.

The book's villain turns up in the last few pages to kidnap Veronica and attempt to force her into marriage, but once again we never find out WHY. Nor does the burning question Veronica has been trying to ask through the whole book "How exactly DID my mother and father meet and have me?" ever get answered.

Going back to the romance between Veronica and Nicholas, it really feels very rushed. She sees him swimming a couple of times, thinks he's hot, and the next time she sees him he's picking her up out of the sand where she escapes her kidnappers. Pretty much the next time after that he's sneaking into her room at night, kissing her, not answering any of her questions and then ASKING IF SHE LOVES HIM.

I was going to give this book 3 stars, but looking back at the criticisms I have of it above, I just can't. 3 stars means 'It was OK' and though the writing was very good, the story just has too many massive flaws, plot holes and unresolved questions. I read through to the end because I was hoping some of them would get answered, but they never did. 2 stars.

Caught Between Two Worlds
June Moonbridge

Veronica has always wanted to visit Egypt and she decides to do just that with her not so
willing boyfriend, Peter. She tires of his complaining and sets out to explore on her own. She meets two travelers, Jason and Sarah, and a mysterious man named Salah Ali. When she plans a trip with Peter, Jason, and Sarah, she is kidnapped by the sheikh. Salah Ali rescues her and keeps her in his palace. She spends months in the dark not understanding her kidnapping or rescue. As the story unfolds, you find out the answers just as Veronica does.

Caught Between Two Worlds is a page turner. I liked not knowing what was going on until Veronica did. The description of Egypt, the customs, and language was vivid. It made you feel like you were there.

I was surprised by the story of her connection to Salah Ali. I felt Veronica was such a strong character for what she was put through. I don't normally read books like this, but I am so glad that I had the pleasure of reading it. The only reservation I had about the book was with Nicholas. I understood their connection, but there wasn't enough there to buy when and how she fell in love with him.

I would recommend this book and definitely read more by this author.

This is a different genre from Miss Moonbridge's previous work, All That The Heart Desires. It involves more suspense and action but less romance. To this, I see the potential of the author to write more of this type of books. The excitement is certainly there, and the suspense builds up quite well.

The story revolves around Veronica Blake, narrated from a first person perspective. A vacation to Egypt took an unexpected turn when she finds herself kidnapped by people completely unknown to her. Things become even more bizarre when she was rescued, only to be kept isolated, albeit treated nicely, for weeks in the middle of nowhere. One revelation after another ensued as the story speeds toward a climactic ending.
The pace of the story was just right with some intense moments. As earlier stated, the suspense and excitement factor made this an entertaining read. I find the author did a very good job in building the plot, slowly peeling away bits and pieces of the mystery to ensure the reader is hooked to the very end. The author also made the story very believable with intricate description on the places where the story had occurred.

My main reservation is generally on character and character development. While the author did portray Veronica to be a strong and rebellious character, sometimes I felt her stubborn nature to resist anyone who opposes her thoughts may be a bit overdone. Perhaps given her predicament at that time, some sense of panic is understandable. I also felt her relationship with Nicholas was not developed properly and her love for him could not be easily related to by readers. It seems even less developed than her conflicts with Dona Yolanda Marie.

All in all, this book is easy to read and follow, has a solid plot and conflict, and the entertainment value is definitely there. I would rate this 3.5 stars.

I gave this a 5 star as I found that I was kept engaged by the flow of the story from the first to the last page, with lots of detailing so you could imagine yourself there. There were a couple of twists I was not expecting which made the story all the better. I thought Veronica was a very strong lady who always held her own and kept her beliefs. I learnt a few things about Egypt I did not know.
This is the second book I have read by this author and thoroughly enjoyed both. I look forward to reading more.

I have read this book twice.
Wow....What a wonderful storyline this book has, and I would love to have been ablevto give it 10*. It was so wonderful and magical it kept me totally enthralled from the beginning to the end, and to me reading it was like watching a really good movie. The authors imagination definitely transfers to yours, with each step of the way, and makes you hunger for more.
I don't like to give storylines away, but I can sincerely recommend this author and her other book. This is my second title of June Moonbridge's and I really cannot wait for her next one, as both of her books have been Brilliant.

I was glued to this novel from page one and couldn't put it down until the wonderful, dramatic end. Veronica Blake, torn from her normal life in the UK to a life in a desert palace doesn't give in to despair but instead finds friends where she can, and learns to cope. It helps, of course, that she has the handsome Nicholas to lean on but even that has its problems, Dubai is not the place to have extra-marital sex! I loved the character of Yolanda Maria - what a great 'baddie' she is! A great novel to transport you to a world of sand and riches, would highly recommend it.

The book was intriguing, and my opinions of it shifted as I was reading.
At first glance it seemed like another romance, typical of the genre but the plot had a way of shifting as you least expected it to. The author didn't reveal all, not at once. But teased with little bits of information as you read and by the end everything fell into place.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it has a great storyline and plot. I loved what happened at the end, no spoilers, but it's the ultimate romantic deed!
