The dragons will search the universe for their one true mate...
Grace has a special ability. She senses paranormal beings. It’s the perfect trait to have as an operative for the Paranormal Detection Agency. A pity her next target, Kadin Marres, doesn’t just trigger her paranormal senses … he triggers her lust too.
Kadin has been aware of the elusive Grace for some time now and has waited patiently for her. She’s a dragon breeder, and once he finally has her, he isn’t about to give her up. Not even if it means she goes from hunter to hunted.
I’m an award winning author who loves to write scorching hot contemporary and science fiction romance—stories I love to read. I love working from home, where my office window looks out over our ‘block’ of fourteen acres with gorgeous mountain views. After enjoying a stint as a foster carer for cats, I now have seven felines to entertain me, along with two dogs and two horses. But only when I’m not distracted by my three gorgeous daughters, one of whom—a teenager *shriek*—is still living at home. As for my husband…he’s still waiting for retirement.
KADIN by Mel Teshco is the prequel to the science fiction alien romantic suspense series, Dragons of Riddich. The concept behind the story line had great potential, but the novella did not live up to it. Grace Macintosh has the ability to sense paranormal beings and is an operative for the Paranormal Detection Agency. Her next target is Kadin Marres who has been aware of Grace for a while and wants her for his mate.
Unfortunately, the world-building was inadequate in this one. To understand even a small amount of what is going on and the world situation, you have to read half of the novel, and even that is insufficient to understand why paranormals are being pursued. It felt like there was a book that should have come before this one.
Grace’s acceptance of Kadin’s remarks and her actions do not seem realistic. She was not the strong protagonist that I expected. However, the paranormal shifter’s transformation is a more believable event than in many novels. There is plenty of action, some suspense, and a few steamy scenes as well in this book.
Overall, this was a read that did not live up to my expectations. 1.5 stars rounded up to 2 stars due to the potential the story line had. I don’t plan on continuing the series.
Ah, I was curious after the hilarious comments of some readers I know. They were right. It was hilarious, though absolutely terrible. At least it was short.
Okay so I wouldn't give it 1 star - it was okay - if you like dragon shifting, erotica love-making, thriller chase scene books. A lot of people I knew read this for Quidditch and there was just so much buzz about it I had to give it a go. Glad I did but I won't be continuing with this series..
So, I do enjoy stories of Shifters and the all Mates thing. I even can, most times, get past the Insta-feelings because of the Mating deal. BUT... Not on this one!
Here, in this book, it's Insta-Lust all the way! I feel no Love or growth of feelings here.
The story is too short, underdeveloped... We don't get to really know (or actually care for) the main characters. There's no connecting with any of the characters.
This is just a quick, free, kind of erotic book (not even that hot) about a Dragon shifter/human couple.
Still, I have read worse (and I reserve the 1 star for books I can't stand reading or that I hate with a passion), hence the 2 stars rating of this book... because, even if the book IS cliché, predictable, and a bit ridiculous (and hilarious in that way), it isn't really horrible much... It is readable and worthy of more than 1 star.
Overall, I'd not really recommend this book. There's just so much better books out there to read.
Strong Prequel to a New Series - fast-paced and sexy ~ 4.5 stars If you like hot alien dragon shifters do yourself a favour and download a copy of this book. Kadin is a great introduction to a new erotic sci-fi series penned by Mel Teshco, Dragons of Riddich. The novella is a short, fast paced, sexy, erotic read where the hunter very quickly becomes the prey. Grace soon discovers that her destiny is inextricably linked to the supernatural beast she is charged with entrapping for the Paranormal Detection Agency. Her life unravels in ways she could never have imagined as soon as she meets her mark Kadin…. The scene where they first meet had me hooked – it’s downright hot and literally sears the page with its scorching passion! Grace’s plan to once again use her womanly attributes to snare and destroy another despised supernatural goes out of the window very quickly, as Kadin makes it his business to keep her. Her unexpected desire blindsides her as does the fact that he seems to know all about her troubled past.. Indeed, the author does an excellent job of showing us just how attracted Grace and Kadin are to each other and how their destinies are intertwined. The couple must learn to trust each other very quickly if they are to give their burgeoning relationship a chance, as they strive to escape their pursuers who have a nefarious agenda of their own… We learn what circumstances have brought Kadin to Earth in search of a life and a mate, which paves the way for the other books in the series. For Grace all is not as it seems as she is compelled to question all she knows. The ending really packs a punch and I’m looking forward to reading Asher, book 1 in the series. A super prequel to what promises to be a great new sci-fi erotic romance series. Please note that a copy of this book was given to me by the author for he purpose of a fair and honest review.
My major question.... Why did Kadin change his surname when he came to earth, but not his weird AF first name??? It's not even like his real name was out there bonkers either (Marrent, iirc)
I don't give a lot of one star reviews but this book was ridiculous. No character development, no world building, one of the worst cases of instant love, eye rolling sex scenes and dialogue that left a lot to be desired.
yah..... They are already banging in the first chapter, this is not for me I know for a fact there is going to be some insta-lust nonsense I don't care if its only 60ish pages No thank you.
I love when Ms Teshco brings me another naughty little story to read. This is the lead-in novella to her new Sci-fi/Paranormal ‘Dragons of Riddick’ series.
Orphaned at an early age, Grace swore she’d make whoever killed her parents pay. Or should that be ‘what’ ever, because even then, Grace could sense those who were different from humankind. That ability found a home with the PDA - Paranormal Detection Agency, its members utilising Grace’s abilities while giving her the means and skills to someday fulfil her vow. But this talk of dragons is too far-fetched. They don’t exist, and if they did, surely, they would have triggered her senses. Then she closes in on the PDA’s person of interest and discovers that not only do dragons exist, her genetic code could save their entire race.
Kadin has been watching and waiting for the opportunity to meet Grace, but he never expected their intense reaction to each other. She’s the answer he’s been scouring the Universe to find, and now that he has her, he’s not letting her go. Being an alien might complicate matters, but nowhere near as complicated as the revelation that Grace is his fated mate, and the PDA, once her saviours, are now their enemy, for a mated pair of dragons is a sort-after commodity indeed.
I really liked this short story by Mel Teshco. I will emphasize short story. I know people get upset about that but for me personally short stories are great when you don't have time to read a novel or when it is an introduction into the authors imagined world. This story hit the spot. Do I think more world building would have been nice? Sure but I also think she gave what was promised in a free short story. I will definitely be going out to read the other books in this series. I love Mel Teshco books and this one was no exception. Kadin is a dragon (alien species) with Grace being a Paranormal Agent. That being said is why they shouldn't be together. But... there is always a But...I never give spoilers. Read for yourself.
Kadin is a dragon shifter exiled to Earth from his home planet Riddrich. Grace is a beautiful woman with a very special skill and way to make a living. She has the ability to sense paranormal beings and it is her job to hunt them and bring them to justice. Kadin turns out to be different from their first meeting as he has Grace totally off balance with his strong attraction and this set up for the rest of the hot shifter story.
Grace is a member of the Paranormal Detection Agency and they are after a dragon shifter. Kadin Marres is said dragon shifter, and he realizes Grace has a special power to mate with dragons. Unfortunately, she is deceived by her team and she and Kadin are on their own. This was a short and somewhat silly story.
I don't know how to rate this. I giggled through the whole thing. This is definitely not my type of read, but anything for a book challenge....well almost everything. I probably won't read a book like this again for a long time
Grace is an agent in the Paranormal Detective Agency and is sent to Kadin to assassinate him it seemed like. I'm not really sure what she was sent in to do other than seduce him but he sees through her facade right away. But that doesn't stop him from sleeping with her and letting her go through with the facade to seduce him. Afterwards though he lets her know that he knows who and what she is and why she's there. She has very little time to believe what he's telling her before her team breaks the door down and it's at that moment she realizes that her whole life is a lie. Her team turns on her in order to get Kadin who turns out to be a dragon shifter from an alien planet.
Kadin and Grace find themselves on the run from her team and in that time Kadin tells her more about why her leader wants her and Kadin alive together. It's a lot for her to take in and even harder for her to believe until she comes face to face with someone from her past who tells her the evil truth of his plans for her and Kadin.
I was so mad for her. She was lied to her entire life just to get to this moment. But Kadin is a dragon shifter and an alien. He possesses some abilities that help them overcome the people she used to work for and Kadin proves himself to be a great guy in the end. I really ended up loving this book.
Ok, I'm waffling between 2 and 2.5 STARS because I was expecting it to be horrible. I've had a few GR friends read this and talk about how horrible it was. I don't think it was horrible. It just wasn't good by any stretch of the word.
The book was too short. But, being paranormal/sci-fi it can get a way with the insta-love. The whole life mate thing is ok when you are dealing with shifters.
But, there was lot going on. A lot: Grace, her parents death, Kadin, how he got to earth, why he was banished. There was more time with them screwing like...er bunnies (dragons?) than the story and that's really where it fails. I think if the author had developed this more, it actually could have been a decent story (terrible sex talk and sex scenes in the middle of fleeing the bad guys aside).
I guess now that I've put my thoughts down, I'll stay with *2 STARS*
Kadin is the first book in the Dragons of Riddich series by Mel Teshco. It’s a sci-fi/paranormal romance- with sexy alien dragon shifters, action, drama, intrigue and betrayal. This is a novella length story- which makes it a very quick and easy read. I enjoyed this story so much- I really wished it was longer, so I could have spent more time with the characters and their story. The story is great and Grace & Kadin have fantastic chemistry- making for some sizzling hot reading. Ms. Teshco has packed a lot into a small space- and showcases some very creative and top-notch world building! I won’t go into detail her, as the story is quite short and I don’t want to give anything away- anyway, the blurb gives a brilliant rundown of what to expect. Bring on the rest of the series!! Asher Book #2 Baron Book #3 Dahlia Book #4 Wyatt Book #5 Valor Book #6
Well, the world building was not very good. I felt like I missed a previous book in the series that had the missing bits of the back story that this was built upon. The flow was a bit stop & go. The characters were ok, nothing memorable, but they were at odds with how smart they were supposed to be. Her being an operative, but reduced to lust induced stupidness in their plight to escape. Him being a super smart alien dragon but also reduced to lust induced stupidness with her. Even the super highly trained operatives were not so brilliant. Too many things just didn’t seem logical or make sense for me to feel this was well thought out. Definitely wouldn’t want to have paid $ for this. I did finish, although quickly (1 & 1/2 hours) so 2 stars.
It was a decent book. Very short. Very fast-paced. And leaves you wanting to know more. I haven't read any of the other books in the series, but this one states it is a prequel to the other books. But each book is about a different dragon. I'm not sure where this couple fits in exactly. I want to know more about these couples, but don't see how they could possibly fit into the other stories. Guess I will just have to read the others. I would recommend, but only if you are okay with feeling unsatisfied after finishing.
Wasn't sure what to expect, but I do so love dragons.
Def deserves a 3 star. Those conflicts, twists, & turns were surprising interesting. Also, glad the commander or leader of their agency got eaht they deserved using Gracie that way. Thankfully, Kadin was already aware of her before Gracie & her teams mission to infiltrate Kadins...species or whatnot. The only one lost in all of this was Gracie but she also thankfully developed those pesky little feelings in a manner of time that it didn't fully freak her the heck out at being pawned about & manipulated by two diff sides.
Kadin is the one-hundred-page prequel to the Dragons of Riddich series written by Mel Teshco. It starts with sex between an operative of the Paranormal Detection Agency and her target, a wealthy alien dragon shifter who has come to Earth. It ends with the agent finding justice and the lovers realizing their dream of a beautiful future together. More …
It moved a bit fast, but it is a novella after all! I read a lot of erotic romance, so oftentimes I find myself bored with cliche sex scenes, but this novel... idk something about the writing style really made the sex scenes worth a read! The author does a great job describing power dynamics. Overall, if you like fluffy, fun, erotic romance (with dragons to boot!) I highly recommend this read.
2.5 stars - the h is an agent, part of her job includes her having sex with 'clients', and her justifications were silly. I don't like when have weaknesses, and in this world, he H loses consciousness when he shifts. He is very vulnerable, knows she's an agent, they are on the run from the baddies/goodies and they still find lots of time for steamy stuff. Very limited story line.
