ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ನಡೆಯದೆ ಅದರ ವಿವಿಧ ಘಟ್ಟಗಳ, ಘಟನೆಗಳ ಹಾಗು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟತೆ ಮಾತು ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯ ಅರಿವಾಗಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ಒಂದು ಮರೀಚಿಕಿಯೇ ಸರಿ. ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಸಿಗುವ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯ ಸತ್ಯಾಸತ್ಯತೆಯು ಚರಿತ್ರೆಕಾರರ ಪಕ್ಷಪಾತದಿಂದಾಗಿ ಪೂರ್ವಾಗ್ರಹ ಪೀಡಿತವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಅದು ಅಪೂರ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ದೂರವೆಂದೇ ಭಾವಿಸಬೇಕು. ಈ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೇ ಹಲವು ಚಾರಿತ್ರಿಕ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ವಲಯಗಳ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಜನ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಜ್ಞಾತವಾಗಿಯೇ ಉಳಿದಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯನ್ನು, ಚರಿತ್ರೆಕಾರರನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸಿರದ, ಆದರೆ ಭಾರತ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿರುವ ಕೆಲವು ವಸ್ತು ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಸುತ್ತ ಹೆಣಿಯಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ವೀರಗಾಥೆಹಲ ಒಂದು ಘಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ತೆರೆದಿಡುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

About the author

Dr. K.N. Ganeshaiah is an agricultural scientist and professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. He is also a novelist specializing in thrillers, and writes in the Kannada language.

Prof Ganeshaiah has pioneered a new style of writing novels and short stories in Kannada that seamlessly mixes facts and fiction in the form of thrillers. Through this style, his writings have captured a new generation of readers in Kannada contributing to the growth of story writing in Kannada.

Though an agriculture scientist, his novels and stories bring to the reader, the lesser-known and hidden facts of history along with science. Some of
his novels are also aimed at bringing the most complicated elements of science to the general reader.

Recognizing the novelty in the style of writing, he was awarded Kannada Sahitya Academy Datti Award for his novel Kanaka Musuku, which combines both history and science. As some experts have inferred, his thrillers have drawn a large number of new readers to Kannada.

In recognition of his novel contribution to Kannada Literature, Prof Ganeshaiah has also been honored with the Honorary President of Kolar District Sahitya Parishat during 2013

Prof Ganeshaiah has written Nine novels, and 41 short/long stories (in eight collections) and over 63 essays in the areas related Science and Society. His recent book Sasya Sagga on the wonders of plant life as told through his own journey in the field of botany and evolution has attracted your readers. Several of his novels and stories were serialized in Kannada Weekly Magazines

Another Gem of Historical fiction by Ganeshaiah .

Book is regarding a treasure hunt by Italian mafia and its subordinates and how they plan to take help from Indian historians and researchers to know location of treasure , in the book we get introduced to Pepper Queen who has been forgotten and not recognized in any of our books and historical monuments .

highly recommended to our millennial generation and anyone interested to read a historical and kind of thriller fiction.

ಕೆ. ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರ ಕೃತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಫ್ಯಾನ್ ಬೇಸ್ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಅವರ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾತ್ಮಕ ಶೈಲಿಯ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಯೇ ಕಾರಣ. ಗಜಾನನ ಶರ್ಮ ಅವರ ಚೆನ್ನಭೈರಾದೇವಿ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಅತ್ಯದ್ಭುತ ಎನಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಅದೇ ಪಾತ್ರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬರೆದ ಬಳ್ಳಿಕಾಳ ಬಳ್ಳಿ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕುತೂಹಲವಿತ್ತು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಆಕೆಯ ಬಗೆಗಿನ ಶಾಸನಗಳಿಲ್ಲ ವಿದೇಶಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು, ಪೋರ್ಚುಗೀಸರು ಹೇಳಿದುದು ಮತ್ತು ಗೇರುಸೊಪ್ಪೆ, ಹಾಡವಳ್ಳಿ, ಚಂದ್ರವಳ್ಳಿಯ ಬಸದಿಗಳು ರಾಣಿಯ ಗತಕಾಲದ ವೈಭವಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ. ಅತ್ಯಲ್ಪ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಸುವುದೇ ಸಾಹಸವಾದರೆ, ಬಸದಿಯ ಸುತ್ತವಿರುವ ಪಳೆಯುಳಿಕೆಗಳು, ಬಾವಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಥಾನಕಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾತ್ಮಕವಾಗಿ ಕಥೆ ಹೆಣೆಯುವ ಕಲೆಯೇ ಒಂದು ಅದ್ಭುತ.

ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರ ಕೃತಿಯು ನನಗಿಷ್ಟವಾಗುವ ಸಂಗತಿ ಎಂದರೆ ಕಥೆ, ಮತ್ತು ನೈಜ ಘಟನೆಗಳು ಯಾವುವು ಎಂಬುದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಪುಟದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಡುವ ರೆಫರೆನ್ಸಸ್ಸು ಓದುಗನಿಗೆ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ಮನಸ್ಸಲ್ಲಿ ಅಚ್ಚಳಿಯದೆ ಇರುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಲೇಖಕನ ಕಟ್ಟು ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಓದುಗ ನೈಜ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಎಂದು ನಂಬದಿರುವಂತೆ ಪುಟದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೈಜ ಇತಿಹಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕೊಡುವ ರೆಫರೆನ್ಸು ಓದುಗನಿಗೆ ದಾರಿ ತಪ್ಪದಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೇ ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರ ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯ.

ಕರಿಸಿರಿಯಾನದ ಪೂಜಾ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕೂಡ ಅನ್ವೇಷಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದುವರೆಯುತ್ತಾಳೆ‌. ಇಟಲಿಯ ದಂಧೆಕೋರರು, ಚೆನ್ನಭೈರಾದೇವಿಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುದುಗಿಸಿಟ್ಟ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ದೋಚುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಗೇರುಸೊಪ್ಪೆ, ನೇತ್ರಾಣಿ ದ್ವೀಪ, ಹೈಗುಂದ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಡುಕುವಾಗ ಪೂಜಾ ಎಂಬ ಪಾತ್ರ ರಾಣಿಯ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾಳೆ.

ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಥ್ರಿಲ್ಲರ್ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಗಳಿಸಿರುವ ಕೆ. ಎನ್ ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರ ಹೊಸ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ "ಬಳ್ಳಿಕಾಳ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ" ಮತ್ತೆ ಓದುಗರನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಮುಚ್ಚಿದ ಪುಟಗಳ, ಪಾಳುಬಿದ್ದ ಶಿಲ್ಪಗಳ, ಶಿಥಿಲವಾದ ಹಳೇ ರಾಜಧಾನಿಗಳ ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕಥಾವಸ್ತುವಿಗೆ ಜೈನ ಧರ್ಮದ ಅನುಯಾಯಿ ರಾಣಿ ಚೆನ್ನ ಭೈರಾದೇವಿಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಡೆದ ಕೆಲವು ನಿಗೂಢ ಘಟನೆಗಳಿಗೆ, ಈಗಿನ ನಿಧಿಗಳ್ಳರ ಜಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ತಳುಕು ಹಾಕುವ ಲೇಖಕರು ಅಂತ್ಯದವರೆಗೂ ಕೌತುಕಮಯವಾಗಿ, ರಹಸ್ಯಮಯವಾಗಿಯೇ ಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಯಕನಿಗಿಂತಾ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸಂಶೋಧಕಿಯರಾಗಿ ಡಾ.ಪೂಜಾ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ.ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿ ಪೊದ್ದಾರ್ ಎಂಬ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರನ್ನು ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದು ಮೆಚ್ಚತಕ್ಕುದ್ದು.
ಆದರೆ ಒಂದು ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಬೇಕಾದ ಪಾತ್ರ ಪೋಷಣೆ, ಪಾತ್ರಧಾರಿಗಳ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಜೀವನದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ (backstory or motive), ಅವರ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಭಾವನಾತ್ಮಕ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳಿಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸ್ಥಾನವಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಬರೇ ಸಂಶೋಧಕರೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲಾ ತಜ್ಞರೋ, ಜಾನಪದ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ವಿಮರ್ಶಕರೋ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಅವರನ್ನು "ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ" ( Technical) ವಾಗಿ ದುಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅದರಿಂದ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಓದುವ ‘ಹಿತವಾದ ಫೀಲ್ ’ ಬರದೇ, ಒಂದು ರಿಸರ್ಚ್ ಗ್ರಂಥ ಅಥವಾ ಜ್ಞಾನಕೋಶ ಓದಿದಾಗ ಬರುವ ಗೌರವ ಮಾತ್ರ ಉಂಟಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಬಹಳ ಓದುಗರನ್ನು ಇದು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಬಹುದಾದರೂ, ಮಿಕ್ಕವರಿಗೆ ( ಪ್ರೇಮ- ಪ್ರಣಯ- ಮನರಂಜನೀಯ ಕತೆ ಬಯಸುವವರಿಗೆ) ಇದು ’ಒಣಗಿ ದಂತಿದೆ’ (dry) ಎನಿಸಬಹುದು..ಇದೊಂದೇ ಋಣಾತ್ಮಕ ಅಂಶ ನನಗೆ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದು.
ಆದರೆ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಚಾರಿತ್ರಿಕ/ ಪೌರಾಣಿಕ ಬಗೆಯ ಕಥಾವಸ್ತು, ಬೆರಗುಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲಾ ಮಾಹಿತಿ, ವಾಸ್ತವ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಲ್ಪನಿಕವನ್ನು ಬೆಸುಗೆ ಹಾಕುವ ಲೇಖಕರ ಶೈಲಿ ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಿತ ( learned) ಓದುಗರನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದು ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ.
ಅಂತವರಿಗೆ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಕೆಳಗಿಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

K.N Ganeshaiah can be called as Kannada's Dan Brown. Only difference is Ganeshiah's area of work is much larger than Dan Brown's. He has given logical conclusion to questions raised / symbolic interpretations of many folk tales. It is as if, that is the way actual event has happened. In this book he has answered many questions regarding great queen Channa Bhairadevi. It contains all the usual drama associated with all his books. This drama serves the purpose of telling the history without boring the reader.

ಕೆಳದಿ, ನಗರ ಹೀಗೆ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತ ಸುಮಾರು 17ನೆ ಶತಮಾದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೆಣೆದಿರುವ ಒಂದು ರೋಚಕ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ. ಕೆ.ಎನ್. ಗಣೆಶಯ್ಯ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ typical ಬರವಣಿಗೆಯ ಶೈಲಿಯನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮುಂದುವರೆಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ರಾಣಿ ಚನ್ನಭೈರವಾಂಬ ಕಾಲದ ನಿಧಿಯ ಹುಡುಕಾಟವೇ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕಥಾಹಂದರ. ಚನ್ನಭೈರವಾಂಬಳ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ನಿರೂಪಣೆ ಮೈನವಿರೇಳಿಸುವಂತಿದೆ.

K.N.Ganeshaih takes the very less known history of coastal kingdoms and wovens it with Portugese and British history. Was thrilled to know about histories of my own hometown.

As his other books, it joy to read a historical fiction book with actual pictures of the places around which it's built. Overall it was a great read

Sooper. We have forgotten somany heors of our land. Pepper Queen is from Shivamogga. I doubt whether local people know about her. I know some friends from sagara taluk but they know only shivaji. not others. taking story from SS gairsoppa ship , gairsoppa falls [Jog falls was called as Gairsoppa falls from British] to pepper queen. sooper. i loved it.

ನನ್ನ ಮೂಲ ಊರು ಹೊನ್ನಾವರ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಗೇರುಸೊಪ್ಪೆಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಇದೆ ಎಂದು ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಗೊತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲಾ. ಬಳ್ಳಿಕಾಳು ಅಂದರೆ ಕಾಳು ಮೆಣಸು (Pepper) ಎಂದು ಹಾಗು ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ S S Gairsoppa ಎಂಬ ಹಡಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನೂ ಒಳಗೊಂಡು ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರು, ಡಚ್ಚರು ಮೊದಲೇ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಹೊಡೆದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಆಗಿದೆ.
