I am reading a few books that are taking me forever to get through and I needed instant gratification in a quick reading fix. These books you can read in about 2 hours - so instant gratification met.
Mistaken identity troupe. He thinks she is a gold digger (and yes....the song kept playing in my head the whole time I was reading) when she is actually his Grandfather's doctor. Story plays out from there....
It is really hard to find books of this type that have believable characters/dialogue etc and this is no exception. Characters were a bit wooden/preachy/whingey (take your pick). Dialogue was flat. However, at just under 200 pages, authenticity and character development is rarely part of the package. I did like the writing though and I do always like to support Aussie authors.
I feel re-invigorated to pick up the other books I was reading - so this book achieved its mission :-)

His mother was invited back to her childhood home to a father that hadn't seen her since she married his father. Dare is there to make sure that she is not hurt by her own father. When he mistakes Carly as his grandfather's mistress. She is his doctor. But Dare is not a push over where he finds out that she is not the person he believes. There is much angst mixed in and the jealousy blinds him. Can he come to the truth before she leaves for good?

She ain't no gold-digger!
Carly was fun because she just kept letting him make a fool of himself by insinuating she was a useless gold-digger. I always like this trope, but it's even more fun in this book because usually the heroine is just a sweet girl taking care of an old man, or his long-lost grandaughter or something. But not here! Here, she's his doctor! So much more satisfying when the hero finds out he's snobby jerk. And I just love the angst caused by a hero who wants to bang the woman he thinks is getting satisfied by his grandfather. Lol, the hero has to sit around and wonder if he can satisfy her as much as a wrinkly 70+ year old. That is tormentingly angsty, and I freaking love it.

One of those romances where the h/h hate each other for no particular reason, argue constantly, then fall instantly in love. The writing was good as I would expect from this author, but the story line failed to engage me.

Excellent read with a cynical, reluctant hero that has to rethink his points of view when he meets the fiesty heroine.
