Well, damn, this story is funny! It's a parody of porn movies, human relationships, zombie movies, action movies, teen movies, 80's movies, sexuality and misogyny. Hell, it's even making fun of comedy movies. It's unexpectedly fun if you can overlook the naked breasts. I know I couldn't. The TnA deserves a full star on its own.
Lucky guy Ellis has somehow convinced his girlfriend to a threesome. His best friend Ace manipulates Ellis into allowing him to film the encounter. Instead of extazy and goodness, Ellis gets literally eaten by the two women - as in cannibalism, not the good kind. Ace goes to the police to report the crime, but is ignored. Gwen and her kinda-but-not-really-lesbian-girlfriend witness something crashing into the ground. They investigate the crash site and find a naked woman who starts making out with Gwen's kinda-girlfriend. Gwen runs to the police, but is ignored until lesbian zombies attack. She escapes the police station with Ace's help. The two will risk their lives to stop the zombie infestation. Oh, the heroism!
Okay! So this is my book, and I'm likely to be biased.
Don't consider this a review.
I just wanted to say a little something about genre. Apart from this being a Horror Comedy Graphic Novel, I've seen it show up on Amazon as "Erotica". Yes, there are naked zombies within these pages, and they are (at least at the beginning) attractive. However, I don't consider this book (or series) to fall under erotica, simply because that genre by its nature is meant to sexually titillate the reader. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) In contrast, the main intent of LZfOS is to induce laughter, and if/when there is titillation, it is usually followed by over-the-top gore.
Of course, one man's porn can be another's literature (especially if that man is Ace Johnson). The defining boundaries of erotica vary from reader to reader. You know yourself better than anyone: if the thought of hot naked zombies hungry for male gonads doesn't bring a smile to your face, you may want to try another book. And if the idea IS a turn-on for you, well, feel free to call this "Erotica".
I admit I'm pretty worried about the people who worked on this thing, and also about me for liking it so much, lol. The story is well inspired in the 80s porn and slasher movies, and you can say that there is a high dose of comedy on each issue, which makes things even better. The script is interesting and I like the way many cliches are worked with, but I would have prefered to see something more original in some scenes. However, to use so many polemic topics, such as incest and virginity, in a completely and sensationalist manner, but which adds more content to the story. If you're into easy and bizarre entertainment, then maybe, maybez, this is what you're looking for.
Lesbian Zombies From Outer Space by Jave Galt-Miller
This was given to me by the author for a fair and honest review. NSFW!
As you can probably tell from the title, this was definitely not a book that normally falls within my wheelhouse. While described as a horror comedy, Lesbian Zombies From Outer Space by Jave Galt-Miller definitely pushed the boundaries of my comfort zone, and yet I found myself open to the possibilities of a comedic take on the horror genre, and seeing as this was my first graphic novel, I jumped at the chance to give this a review. Here is they synopsis:

The the hijinks of Ace and the survivors of this zombie outbreak were definitely humorous, what really struck me was the way this series has highlighted the often ridiculous male fantasies that they dream up, as well as the stupid stereotypes that the lesbian community is often labeled with. The story does a great job of bringing these issues to light, while also touching on the horror genre often explored in cheesy, B-movie 80's films.
The artwork is wonderfully drawn, and the story conjures up images of a mix of various 80's films, as if Weird Science and The Evil Dead were combined into one giant film. While I would recommend this to my adult readers out there, I think it is a great addition to the horror comedy genre, and so I hope you guys will pick up Vol 1 (Issues #1-4) of Lesbian Zombies From Outer Space by Jave Galt-Miller today!
1 star for the interesting idea. at first glance it looked like the story intended to make fun of patriarchy and misogyny; people are lesbian because they have not found the right man. yet the last volume made me cringe and disgusted. a man 'cure' the lesbian queen by shagging her. eew. moreover, the main character flirted with a man, giving him hope despite being lesbian. truly wet men dream. it was fun at first until the male glance and failed attempted to beat patriarchy showed.
Sa vise fora poput VHS izdanja cap Hammera i postera na zidu ureda videoteke bilo bi ovo puno zabavnije izdanje. Sve ostalo je unutar ocekivanja za strip s ovakvim imenom.
Re-read April 27th 2018 because I need to read volume 2 so I know wtf happens. It could go so well or so wrong. TW: Homophobia. I love Gwen. Ace is an ass, as are all the typical guys, but Gwen don't let it slide. She tells it like it is and she's fucking awesome. I'm not sure what to think about this so i'm keeping the rating at 3 for now, i'll make a final judgement after I read volume 2 and finish it. It doesn't take long to read so I figured i'd do it to refresh my memory. I noticed details I didn't notice the first time or I forgot about. The art style didn't bother me like it did the first time (it's like an 80s style) and I think that's just because I wasn't expecting it the first time.
I have no idea what to rate this to be honest. I figure it isn't ment to be taken seriously, and I thought it may actually have some good stuff in there but looking at the last issue reviews, i'm not so sure. I like Gwen, she tells it like it is. Ace is an ass as are generally all the guys in typical fashion. No idea if i'll continue just to see what happens or not. No idea. Going with 3..because reasons.
This is a great compilation of the first four issues of the series. Ace is a doofus, but he's a lot of fun. What's really impressive is seeing his and Gwen's relationship grow over the series. It's like a buddy movie with boobs and blood. The added variant covers are fantastic. Though I'm afraid I might be sent to hell for enjoying the Issue 3 cover! A whole lot of fun, and I can't wait to see how it ends.
