This is a romance book revolving around an aspiring actress and a rich businessman. Basically the same thing that happens in every other C-novels but with fewer chapters.

✓ FL has a soft temperament.
✓ FL's family is greedy and opportunistic.
✓ ML is pampering and clingy.

Why are arcs with co-actors and families hating on FL so common in these books? And don't even get me started on how netizens keep changing parties faster than you can blink whenever some scandal or gossip regarding the FL gets out. Why is it that only FLs need rescuing in C-novels? I don't think I've ever read as many C-novels where the man is subjected to people's rude remarks and the FL saves the day. The ratio is hardly noticeable 💀

Pretty funny, modern novel regarding celebrity life in China. If you can imagine one of those teen movies like Princess Diaries or Mean Girls, only set in China, you'd be on the right track. Despite this "wish-fulfillment" kind of back ground, the story is actually quite funny and very realistic (other than the rich boyfriend) - the actress heroine really works her butt off getting to a moderately successful place in the film world but she's not perfect and she doesn't mind letting you know it. Not a hard story to read.

If you're already familiar with the Chinese web novels (at least to some extent), then I'm sure you'd know of Ban Li Zi/ Chestnut. She wrote 14 novels in total in shared universe (I've already finished 10. Don't worry, I'll get to the other 4 soon). Each novel has its own flavor but mostly Slice of life genre in it is common. But nothing to worry, it's not a series, every novel is a stand alone.

This is the 1st novel *I* read of this author.  At first it gave me the impression of the stereotypical CEO romances in wattpad. But no, it's not.

The ML (Song Nan Chuan) is blackbellied and sly. Even his pursuit for FL didn't escape from his slyness. He is the epitome of dominant but doting CEO ML.

FL (Pei Ying) has her own charm. Her long legs with good humor makes her noticeable in a crowd of  FLs. Despite failing multiple times, neither did she give up nor did she lose her cheerful self. I think it's admirable in itself.

Their romance and chemistry isn't stereotypical. Reading this, you'll feel refreshed, not boring.

But if you're in for some angst, it's not for you right now.

P.S:

Pei Ning's friend is my favorite character though.

But Song Nan Chuan is the prince charming of my teenage heart!

also i just love how pei ying survived her hard life. she always has a positive mindset, believing that everything will be fine. she's a hardworker and never give up for her life. she deserves everything she got! song nanchuan came into her life and brought so much luck and happiness. i love both of them<3

I don’t know how much I liked this, but they gave me all the fluffiness! It’s a typical CEO and actress stories of Chinese Novels, (I mean this like my 5th Chinese story encounter with an actress as a female lead.) too sad I didn’t see babies!

I laughed throughout this novel. The dry humour of the female lead, her best friend's dirty remarks and the Male lead's care for the female read made it a fantastic read.
