A collection of twenty-two interviews and one personal essay, Julia Kristeva Interviews presents an intimate and accessible portrait of one of France's most important critical thinkers and intellectual personalities.
Julia Kristeva is professor emerita of linguistics at the Université de Paris VII and author of many acclaimed works. Her Columbia University Press books include Hatred and Forgiveness (2012); The Severed Head: Capital Visions (2014); and, with Philippe Sollers, Marriage as a Fine Art (2016).
She argues that people often carry hidden emotional conflicts, and forgiveness helps them rebuild themselves rather than just fix a relationship.
For Kristeva, forgiveness is important because it allows both the victim and the offender to grow and transform internally. By understanding why people act badly—often because of their own inner struggles—individuals can move beyond resentment and self-blame.
This is another one of my reviews when I have to say that I am not competent to say much about the book or the author. I assume that Kristeva was brilliant, but her thinking is so far above mine that I could only understand some of what she wrote.
