An omega forced to mate an alpha he hates turns to his beta best friend for help to escape--but the only way out is to be stolen by another alpha.
Grant Denny is an omega who never wanted an alpha mate. He doesn't want to be a sex toy for an entire pack, even if the alternative is to go through the agony of full moon heats locked up alone. But the choice has been taken away from him--he's been given to Cliff, an alpha he can't stand, who is keeping him in a remote cabin along with Jack, a beta who is his best friend, packmate, and the only person he's ever wanted.
Jack Merritt is trapped in his wolf shape by the cruel alpha who claimed Grant against his will, and took Jack along with him. Jack has loved Grant forever, and he'll do anything to stay with the omega--but Grant begs him to run away at the first chance, to try to find some way they can both escape before Grant's heat arrives and forces him to submit to the alpha. Jack would do anything for Grant, but leaving him behind is the hardest thing he's ever done.
Mike Gilford has been an alpha werewolf for half a year now, and he's ready to find a mate and start a pack of his own. He never imagined that he would find them like this--a lost wolf, hurt and helpless by the side of the road, and the trapped omega he leads Mike to rescue. Mike only wants to help, but the moment he meets Grant the pull between them is undeniable--and terrifying to Grant, who is trying to escape from being bent to an alpha's will.
Grant and Jack need a pack's protection, and Mike is willing to give it, but can he keep them safe without keeping them prisoner? Can Grant learn to trust that Mike isn't like the alphas he's met before, and that his destiny as an omega isn't the doom he's always feared? With the full moon and Grant's next heat on the way, there's not much time for three wolves to make themselves a pack and find their way home...
M/M/M Alpha/beta/omega First Time Werewolf Pack Romance
Okay, yes...considering I wasn't all that enamored with the last two installments of this series, I am SUPER glad we got back to the weirdly fascinating & emotionally engaging werewolf porn. And yes, OMG so much porn it's a knotting extravaganza. And a touching romance. I don't know what my feelz are doing right now, but it's awkwardly arousing.
I always thought that Mike didn't fit the mold correctly, that while he's still a part of the Jamieson pack, he's an Alpha in his own right and shouldn't have to settle for sharing Sam (or Rusty, or Brody, or Nick). That considering the other 4 sort of pseudo paired up that it left him out in many ways, even if Sam & the others worked to keep him from feeling like that.
So, yay for 2 new members and for the way their addition to the pack was handled. I LOVED that Mike asked Jack to join first...and that Jack, as a Beta, expected to just tag along with where ever his best friend and true love would be sent - because Grant was the Omega and therefore of more value - but here he was wanted for himself...probably for the first time in any situation.
Grant was a piece of work but I guess I get his fear, his hesitation...when all your life you've never been given a choice, well to suddenly have EVERYTHING be a choice you're expected to make? Must be difficult and overwhelming. I just felt like him leaving was like a kid running away, thinking they're all independent but then realizing they're not and by that time they're caught up in a mess that's tough to get out from under.
In the end it's all HEA though.
I hope we do get a novella with the whole pack on Sam during one of the full-moons. That would be one helluva fuck-fest.
This is definitely the best book of the series so far and I'd even rec it to first-timers because no knowledge of the previous books is necessary. Everything you need to know gets explained pretty quickly and since this book introduces two new characters newbies should be all set.
I discovered this author through her stunning fic and was happy to follow her to her published works where she keeps up the perfect mix of interesting characters, fun plots and scorching hot smut.
I was actually a little suprised by how much I loved this part of the series because so far Mike had been the least interesting character of the pack to me. But this book is less about Mike than introducing Grant and Jack and about the way these three make a new pack work.
They balance each other out perfectly and it was a joy to read about them finding their way to understanding this for themselves.
The fact that Grant and Jack reminded me of two certain Boys from Brooklyn certainly helped but I would have loved them regardless. Some dynamics are just magic :)
I can't wait to see what Dessa has in store for us next!
I don't know if it's me, but this book was kind of meh (says person who is in love with the series).
While I really like story overall, there were times when I was like "okay I get it can we move on." The sex scenes didn't do it for me either. I think it's because there was too much emphasis on the heat sex, so it felt like the plot building up to it took forever and the actual heat went on too long to pack the right punch. And there's too many instances of the phrase "deeper and deeper" for it to hold weight.
It's also starting to feel monotone in terms of character voice. And, no, Nick and Brody's one-liners don't count. BUT I really like the insights into Grant's character and his experiences as an omega, so there's that.
Anyway, I'm still looking forward to any new books in the series, so I'm not deterred.
I was a little disappointed with this book due to the fact that Mike don't all pay have sex with Jack. It seems unequal to me. I know it's about Grant being an Omega but come on!
Gay male shifter romance drama, but more interesting than is typical of this genre. Alpha without followers rescues a beta and omega. Lots of explicit sex needed to bind and heal them. This is book five of a series I have not previously read. I picked up enough to follow the story. Typos: Chapter three "Mike let out a breath...and laid down" should be lay. Chapter nine "'Oh, thank you!' The woman said..." The word 'the' should not be capitalized.
Being book 5 in a series, it might not seem like a good idea to jump into this one before having read from the beginning, but I honestly couldn’t help myself. The blurb had me intrigued and with the potential combination of shapeshifting wolves, m/m/m sex, and nature’s pull working together, I had to give it a go and really glad that I did. While more back history would have enhanced the story, I never felt lost by jumping in midstream and now I’m motivated to track backwards to catch up!
A unique twist on traditional themes is how I would sum up this story. For example, the omega wolf is traditionally at the bottom of the pack hierarchy, and while the bad Alpha in this book may see the omega as his to own and play with, in other circles (the ones that matter) the omega is revered and given choices. Another twist is the pack within a pack theme. I truly loved the one big happy family that grew out of one Alpha (Mike) starting his own pack (with Jack and Grant) while still belonging to Alpha Rusty and his super pack.
MC Mike was not only an upstanding man, but a worthy Alpha. My heart melted and he firmly cemented his place in it multiple times as he sought to gain the trust of his new pack members. One example is when he recognized Jack’s worth on his own (as the beta) and not just as a sidekick of the omega he lusted after, and another was when he recognized that Jack and Grant loved one another and that Grant (the omega) deserved to be with Jack as his first.
I loved seeing the extended pack in action in this book and can’t wait to learn more about all of them!
Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review through ... - 4 hearts
This is the first book in this series that I have read and I really enjoyed it. The characters are intriguing and there is a lot of smoking hot sex. The packs in this world are different than in other shifter books I have read and I like how the author gave everyone a role so that the betas were not left out. The relationship between Mike and Rusty is great because the usual alpha posturing is not present and their long friendship is very apparent in how they interact. I love the relationship between Jack and Grant and how much history they have together. Adding Mike to their dynamic could break them or make all three of them stronger. The patience, caring and space Mike gives them allows them both to make their own decisions for the first time. Did I mention the smoking hot sex? There is a lot of it in this book but there is also a beautiful love story about three men damaged by life who refuse to give up on love. The secondary characters are amazing and I need to go find the first four books in this series so I can read their stories. There are a few editing issues and it was difficult to follow the story at times with so much going on but it is an entertaining and captivating read.
There is absolutely no reason for them all to commingle together sexually, especially with Sam. I find it stupid that just because Rusty and Sam are the head alpha and omega, that they somehow have to be involved sexually with basically everyone. That kiss from Grant to Rusty was so random. I kind of feel bad for Mike. Not only was he still pretty much on his lonesome self for the first half but he'll likely have to share his mates with the rest of his packmates. Mike had already hinted that he no longer saw Sam in a sexual way, that Grant was his omega. So it's unfair to him. I honeslty think this pack has way to weird of a dynamic. It doesn't work for me.
And I'm quite dissapointed that Mike and Jack never had any penetration s**. It makes no sense for them to not have that type of intimacy when they're apparently in love with each other.
Very, very fun book! I've already started rereading it. ^_^ Really exciting to read about Mike starting his own pack. Love the new characters too. Also, it was really nice to get another omega in the series, who provides a good contrast for Sam. And I liked how the relationship between him and his beta was handled, as well as their relationship with Mike (and Grant & Sam! i loved their scenes together so much!!).
This unique world of werewolves were there are alpha males, beta males, and omega males that can have babies. Omega are rare and often used as barter between alphas. When Mike, an alpha finds an injured beta along the road and finds that his best friend is an Omega that is being forced into a mating with an abusive alpha. Mike saves the Omega starts pack and mating with these two friends. Urban and erotic paranormal romance fantasy. Three males.
I do love this series. And I’ve been waiting a long time for Mike’s book since the very first of the series. Just a tad bit disappointed the key focus was Grant, as being his POV. Would have loved more of Mikes perspective and his emotions. Mike creates his own pack with two omega Grant and beta Jack, both virgins. Overall, a fun smutty read!
This was a return to the hotness of the first book, so welcome, probably because of the two new characters. Who had to be, um, taught the ropes. I think Lux does werewolves really well and believably, one of the best in this sub-genre. And she works the werewolf-sex to the max.
Poor Grant was so scared of everything around him, except for Jack. Mike was the perfect alpha for this Omega & Beta. He showed Grant that he was more then just an Omega & that he could do anything with his life. I can't wait to see where we go from here.
Continuing to enjoy the characters and the series (and yes, the incredibly raunchy sex). These are fun and light-hearted, even when dealing with the considerable issues of PTSD, abandonment, and coercion.
Please please please can we have more of Sam and Rusty's pack!? These are my favorite alpha omega re-reads. Great characters and lovely pack dynamics. Please!?
I think this is my favourite of the series from an "actual plot" standpoint. It was nice seeing Mike get his own story, and Grant and Jack are lovely additions to the pack.
YAY!! Shifters, and alpha/beta/omega, and knotting, oh my! You all know me by now, and you know I love this stuff. I eat it up and beg for more. The Alpha’s Home was right up my alley, and I really enjoyed it.
Mike, Jack, and Grant had a great chemistry. I loved how Mike was tender and understanding. He wanted a pack of his own, and he wanted it to be with Jack and Grant, but he wasn’t willing to force them. He also acknowledged Jack and Grant’s feelings for each other. They were obviously in love, but they hadn’t been allowed to be together. Just as Mike didn’t want to force himself on them, once they were safe at the house, he encouraged Jack to be Grant’s first. He was aware he could have taken Grant’s virginity, but he didn’t. He was kind and considerate. How could they not eventually fall for him?
I liked Jack’s absolute love and dedication to Grant. He was willing to be bitten and forced to stay in wolf form just to remain by Grant’s side. He also supported Grant’s dreams of going to art school, getting a job, and taking care of himself. He never once tried to talk Grant out of those dreams. I admired Grant because he wanted to be independent. I also felt so bad he suffered such terror at the hands of the bad alpha. That terror carried over to Mike, and it was rather sad to see Grant at war with himself as to whether to trust Mike.
This was actually pretty decent. It was long enough to give me what I wanted and not too long to make me bored. I haven't read a m/m/m shifter book, but I enjoyed this very much. Typically shifter romance isn't written very well, but this wasn't bad at all. I'll definitely be reading more by this author!
I enjoyed this one the most in the series. I've always had a soft spot for Mike in the books and so pleased to see him getting his own pack at last. And what a surprise it ends up being! Grant and Jack are stupidly adorable and just what Mike needed and didn't even know it while Mike was the best alpha these boys could have ever imagined.
I loved how tender and sweet everything was with them, with Mike guiding Jack and Grant's exploration of each other and himself - while Grant's omega instincts require him to need sex (and lots of it) at full moon, it wasn't the frantic, rough straight-up fucking that we've seen with Sam in the other books. This was lovely and careful, and it worked, so very well. Maybe my favourite theme running through the book is Mike's repeated use of the phrase 'only what you want, when you want it' - thus instilling it on Grant (and Jack) that they are actually in charge and they have nothing to fear.
Wonderful end to the series (though, not ashamed to say I would love to read more of them!)
I love A/B/O stories and this series is excellent. True mates, and omegas with a twist. The story is well written, the world building is engaging and the sex is HOT!!!
This was a fun continuation of the overall story, and I liked all of the characters, but I did find myself skimming as I read this book. That led to me missing details that I then had to go back and re-read to figure out what was happening. I don't think that it was anything wrong with the writing, just maybe with my mood.
My favorite so far of the series (plot-wise, that is. My other fave is Omega's Lesson *wink*.) Would love to see more female werewolves tho. I hope Lux continues to expand the universe set out here, I would love to see life in different packs. Maybe some closure about Sam's father?
I love this series. If it ever ends I would really miss these guys. It's perfect, humor, suspense, and really really hot sex. A lot of emotion and a lot of love.
