One of the better Horrorland books.
The main storyline reminds me of two Goosebumps books which is How I Learned To Fly and Brain Juice and I really loved those books. This one is more of a lite version of it, It starts out with a good setup with the twin main characters developing reading minds and telekenisis, not much happens, but their usual normal day and there is one weird but somewhat normal in reality where the main character reads one boy's mind along the minds of:
“Wow, Jillian is hot today!”
Kinda weird but atleast it's normal, just something that is the highlight of the first half.
The rest is where they meet the villains and the main storyline is halfway over and it leads to a wacky ending which is the okayish thing you can get I guess. could have been worse as the previous Horrorland books (mainly Books 7-9) are lackluster to downright terrible.
Now for the Horrorland section I have lots of things to unpack.
I am not liking most of the Horrorland sections in these books up until Books 5-9 and the hindsight in this one is 10/30.
So, I liked how this one starts with a chase and this leads to some characters where I have a reaction of “Oh god no.”
Fuck this Enter Horrorland section, the main storyline I will say is very well written then these characters appears and it just feels like Stine smashed down everything he can type on his typewriter to the point that
I dont even understand what is happening anymore in this section like just compare what's going on in this action scene compared to the main storyline, it's like there is a meth phase in between writing this and I was really glad when those characters disappear and we meet the characters from the previous books and it's kinda solid again. not great as a palltete cleanser but that helps after my violent reaction in the change of this pace. kinda interesting on how this ends up as this will lead to the penultimate book of the Horrroland phase one and I am excited to atleast wrap all these up and maybe take a break from these books until I want to read the rest of the Horrroland books from the 2nd phase of the series.

The kids (boy-11 and girl-10) and I really enjoyed book #10 in the Goosebumps Horrorland series. It is the story of twins, brother and sister Jillian and Jackson, getting special powers. It was very entertaining and we also enjoyed the continuing saga of Horrorland. It ended with a cliffhanger and both my kids responded with "noooooooo." Needless to say we are all anxious to read book #11.

If the last five years have taught me anything, it's that I already get enough of everyone's opinions all the time. No one knows how to shut the fuck up about anything.
And now I have to hear all of these stupid people's thoughts inside my head, too? What kind of torture is that? Fuck no. I'm packing up and moving to a secluded cabin in the woods. Goodbye, world.

2.5 STARS!!
I listened to this one on audio while I read the book as well and I really enjoyed the audio book until about page 94 and then shit went downhill and it got so damn confusing. So I liked the first 94 pages but after that it got bad for me. I'm thinking you might have to read these Horrorland books in order and nowhere does it specify that. Scholastic fix yo shit. The audio book was fun that's why I'm giving this a 2.5. There was spooky scores played throughout the book and sound effects, I really liked that. :)

This was pure chaos.
While I really enjoyed the last Horrorland book I listed to, this one was just too much. The production level felt like it was too much. And don't even get me started on these awful main characters. Also, this was another book with twins. LOL Stine had a trope.
I AM intrigued, however, about what is happening in Horrorland--I think that's the best part of these books.

Oh my gosh - SUPER great book! I liked the narrative build up before the action. I can't believe the twist! I never saw it coming. The OTHER twins had powers. They were so mean to Julian and Jackson. I think you should read this book - it's so good. (btw I'm gonna read more Goosebumps - can't wait to read the next one!!!) BOOM!!!

This book was surprisingly different from the other books in the Goosebumps Horrorland series.
Sure, there's the usual fake-out scares at the end of most chapters, and eventually the kids do become helpless and end up being passive later on, but for a while, we see them trying out the special powers that they gained: the ability to read minds, and the ability to levitate/move objects telekinetically.
For a while, the book is pretty fun and not as predictable as Stine's other fare, playing out more like a story about kids in everyday life situations who just happen to have special powers. But this is a Goosebumps book, and you know what that means.
It isn't too long before bad things start to happen, and badguys become actively involved in the plot. And not in a fun, "heroes try to outwit villains" kind of way either, with active heroes who actually get involved, but rather a typical Goosebumps, "heroes run scared while bad things happen to them" kind of way. Goosebumps had largely had passive characters who just get scared and feel helpless, which may make the books scary to their intended audience, but also makes them boring if you're not scared or intrigued by them.
Which is a shame, because for a while, the kids are actively trying out their powers, seeing how they work, and trying to find uses for them.
After the main plot, it switches over to the Horrorland sidestory that the new series is partly focused on. Now at Horrorland, the kids (from previous stories in the series) are more actively trying to escape and actually affect the plot, and things get more interesting now that we have the two new kids from this story, who have unusual powers and the full intent to put them to good use.
In all, I'd have to say that the special powers thing elevates this book above typical Goosebumps fare, but sadly it's the fact that it's a Goosebumps book with the typical Goosebumps elements that also drags it down, keeping it merely average overall.

Galen asked me to read this today, telling me how short the audiobook at school is so I can definitely do it. Okay kid, I did it. :)
This was silly and a little creepy (though at almost 40 it’s definitely more silly). I’m reminded of why kids like these and I’m glad Galen’s discovered them. It was interesting to see what the scary chapter was for him, and now I can talk to him better about it if he still gets scared.
Stinkin’ cliffhanger though. 😂
(Oh. Somehow we have a UK edition? That was weird at first. “Jumper” “cinema” “mac” etc.)

one of my favorite books growing up and to boot it kickstarted the trilogy of the end of the horrorland series. I wish the perspective followed the twins throughout the books but it is what it is. definitely better read the younger you are. 4/5.

What I liked about this book was how the twins, Jillian and Jackson went to a theme park and went to a fortune tellers booth. They got a piece of paper that said, "Welcome to Horrorland." They didn't know that they had powers. I think you should read this book because the kids have cool powers, it is haunted and scary.

This book started very good and ended really good. Every part of the book is exiting. Every chapter always leaves me a question so that will make me want to continue reading the book till it ends. I'm not surprise that this book is very good because it's written by R.L Stine and every goosebumps series I've read so far are all very good.

A good start, but the story quickly delves into the utterly ridiculous. Manages three stars, though, because the two secondary characters are probably the most repulsive in Goosebumps history.

I like many of the beginning and middle of R.L. Stine's books like this one, but never the endings. What is worse than a bad ending is a cliff hanger!!!

TLDR;
Twins, Jillian and Jackson Gerard, get gifted superpowers but are being hunted and watched by the Institute. They just want to live normal lives, but unfortunately have to deal with another set of twins, Nina and Artie Lerner, who think they’re all best friends. This one was fun. I liked their powers, I liked what they did with them, and I hated Artie. There was a good twist in there. I liked the HorrorLand part too, it just keeps getting better.
Twin Trouble:
Jillian Gerard and her twin, Jackson, love superheroes. They are about to watch Butt Kicker II—their favourite superhero—when Nina and Artie Lerner sit down beside them in the front row of the theatre. “Jackson and [Jillian] can’t stand those kids.” Nina says everything gives her a headache and Artie’s nose is constantly running. Artie wipes his nose on his hand and helps himself to Jackson’s popcorn, spilling it, and in turn ruining Jackson’s new sweater. Jackson loses it and a fight breaks out and they’re all kicked out. Outside, Jillian and Jackson find a fortune teller box, “Madame Doom.” They throw in a quarter and their fortune gets stuck. Jackson reaches into the book, Jillian helping him forwards, and both of them get electrocuted. He grabs their fortune card that’s fallen to the ground and it says “Welcome to Horrorland.” The next morning, the twins find out they have superpowers.
They decide they need to practice their powers so they go out to the park after dark. A strange boy approaches them named Finney. He also seems to have powers. He says they must come to the Institute. They run away but eventually both of them end up at the Institute. A strange Dr. Cranium does a few tests on them and lets them leave. “The Institute doesn’t make mistakes,” Finney whispers to them as they leave, having denied the entire time that they don’t have any powers. The Institute is now watching them, and they try their best to live normal lives and not draw attention to their powers. But of course, the annoying Lerner twins have to ruin everything.
HorrorLand
Jillian and Jackson want answers, so they accept their invite to HorrorLand. However, Dr. Cranium isn’t done with them and keeps shouting some strange things at them as they fight. They head down the Doom Slide to try to get away get grabbed by some Horrors. They take them to the rest of the group that is being held by Dr. Maniac and the Purple Rage. Jillian and Jackson use their powers to help the group. Unfortunately, the group gets split up. Jillian notices two people following them in the shadows and instantly doesn’t trust them. But they’re all in this together, and they have to find out how to get back with the rest of the group.
This was fun. I loved The Institute by Stephen King, so this concept was really fun for me. I found Nina and Artie insufferable, mainly Artie with his disgusting, snotty hands. Nina was kind of cute with her ear plugs, but she did come off very whiney. The HorrorLand part was interesting, I wonder why Jillian is reading the newcomers to the group like that. Is she correct? Why wouldn’t she be? Things are getting more and more tense with each book. This is getting pretty good.

This book is about two kids that are both 12 and they're twins. Their names are Jackson and Jillian, they are the only kids in their family. The book starts out with them talking about their life and how they hate these other twins in school named Artie and Nina. They were shrugging and mouthing the word "sorry" over and over again out the window" 3. "And then, Artie seemed to stumble. His punch went wide--- and he slammed his fist into my brother's jaw." To be honest they just really hate the twins but at the end they find out they have a lot in common.
I rated this book a 4/5 cause it was really interesting to see what they can do with their powers and how they use them. Some of the parts I really loved cause they were intense. But the reason I didn't give it a 5/5 is cause I wish it was longer and it had a little bit more detail. It also went to fast so if it was longer and slowed down a bit I think I would of enjoyed it more.

My senior and fellow bookworm once said, "the more unique the book plot is, the better the book can be." Oh well, this book is the perfect practical example of his statement. I adore every element that this masterpiece offers me.
The storyline is so creative and mind-blowing that it makes me want to have a superpower like the protagonists. The antagonists are also much more unique than the villains and monsters in the previous Goosebumps Horrorland books. Additionally, the peak of the plot is so exciting and satisfying that it pushes my adrenaline to another level. The last few chapters also ooze the rushing emotions that great climax scenes should provide the readers. Lastly, the ending scene is not too bland nor too experimental.
All in all, this is one of the best Goosebumps Horrorland books that I have read so far. Kudos to R.L. Stine for this breath of fresh air!

Help! We have mediocre powers!

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the book, but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the main characters and was a fan magic/science
clash of the main story. The frenemy characters had an okay twist revolving them that you could spot from china, but they were gross and weird but okay characters. The powers are fun, I guess, and the weird dude that looks like a kid that has the face of an old mad was creepy. The main story just doesn’t stick out, or rather it’s insanely boring and bland. I almost fell asleep! And I also wasn’t too into the plot it was going for, which felt really half baked and just… why even do this? The HorrorLand segment was decent and did a good job setting some stuff up for book 11 and I’m a big fan of the hot/cold scene (if ya know what I mean). But, it’s kinda slow and a little underwhelming—but hey, they gotta save the juice for the finale coming up! Overall, 6.5/10. It’s fine at best, just really uninspired in the main story but understands what it’s setting up. Otherwise, it’s a filler book when it comes to the main story.

Brother and sister duo are twins and there are another set of twins that just moved to town and have latched themselves to them but they don’t want to be friends with them. So when they get them thrown out of the theater Jillian and Jackson find this fortune teller machine and something happens and now they have have powers. It attracts the attention of the thought police and they have to try and get away from them.
This story is different from the other goosebumps because it’s part of Horrorland and I am guessing that in each story there is a little short story in the back of each of them about Horrorland which makes me think they are best read in order because once the twins go to Horrorland I was a little confused.
I still found the story enjoyable but this was probably my least favorite of the three books I read. 2.75 stars

Jackson and Jillian receive superpowers after visiting a mechanical fortune teller in their local mall. Jillian can read minds, and Jackson has telekinesis. Now, a shady organization called The Institute, led by a mad scientist named Inspector Cranium, wants to lock the siblings away before they can reach their full potential.
This is the second underwhelming Goosebumps Horrorland book in a row. I think R.L. Stine wrote himself into a corner with the Horrorland subplot. There are now characters from the ten previous Horrorland installments trapped in the haunted theme park with no resolution to be found.
